The aim of this publication is increasing the awareness about the works of women who worked in Europe as well as European women who worked outside Europe over the last 100 years (1918-2018). Forty-five authors from Universities and Research centres all around Europe contributed to writing texts, and more than 300 women among architects, civil engineers, landscape designers, urban planners, furniture and interior designers are listed in the "Index of names". The book consists of four main sections: the first "100 Works, 100 Years, 100 Women" is a catalogue of the MoMoWo international travelling exhibition, the second presents the "Chrono MoMoWo" timeline on women achievements, the third "Th...

Due to the complexity and scope of the topic, identification and analysis of the plundered artworks are left for future study. The inconsistencies in understanding of the process, which arise from the numerous gaps in documentation, are overcome via a case study revealing how the operations were implemented in practice. Presented in the second part of the article, it focuses on the transfer of inventory from the church of St Lucy in Dražgoše, which was burnt down by the Germans in January 1942 in the aftermath of the battle in its immediate surroundings. A part of the artworks they removed from the church before destroying it are still missing today.

In addition to serving as President Tito’s summer residence, it was also regularly used for accommodating foreign politicians on their visits and as a ceremonial venue for important receptions.
The many paintings and sculptures, which were specially commissioned with their execution closely supervised in order to appropriately promote the new, socialist regime, created a distinct and carefully thought-out backdrop for these occasions.Based on art historical analysis of the works commissioned for Villa Bled the article examines how they represented the new, socialist state and assesses their role as conveyors of the regime’s political ideas.

Art and its Responses to Changes in Society, 2016

Even though the works were commissioned in decidedly different social and political contexts, a number of similarities in visualising the history of Slovenians can also be noted. Based on a comparison of the different pictorial interpretations, including those of the same subjects (i. e. the instalment of Carantanian Dukes and peasant revolts), the paper discusses the ways in which historical painting reflected contemporaneous historiography and how it evolved in response to changes in society.

Prispevek analizira del njegovih fresk v župnijski cerkvi sv.

The richly illustrated reportage showed the new state leader on the grounds of his Slovenian summer residence Vila Bled, and comprised of photographs of several artworks located at the Villa, including one of Tito posing in front of a statue of a charging partisan.
As spaces of state representation official residences began to be set up soon after 1945; due to the lack of funds in the time of post-war rebuilding of the state and the five-year plan they were mostly planned as renovations of existing, nationalized buildings. Apart from serving as places of residence for President Tito on his visits, they were also regularly used as accommodation for foreign politicians on state visits and as ceremonial venues for important receptions. The many paintings and sculptures, as well as the renovated architecture, created a distinct and carefully thought-out backdrop for these occasions. Most of the artworks were specially commissioned with their execution closely supervised in order to appropriately promote the new, socialist regime; their reproductions were used as a constituent part of the state's visual propaganda in mass media, as suggested by the Life magazine example.
The paper will examine how the new, socialist state was represented in these artworks and assess their role as conveyors of regime's political ideas. It will focus mostly on works commissioned for the Slovenian residences Vila Bled (1946–1947) and Brdo Castle (1950s), and base its survey on a comparative stylistic and iconographic analysis of paintings and sculptures.

Over the past year, there have been notable advancements in the field of artificial intelligence ... more Over the past year, there have been notable advancements in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). These developments have had a significant impact on the art world, specifically through the emergence of generative diffusion models which enable the production of high-quality images from textual descriptions, independent of any particular artistic ability. Although much of the discourse surrounding generative image models has centered on their impact on contemporary artistic production and the challenges they present to traditional artistic creation, the proposed project seeks to investigate a previously overlooked facet of AI advancements: their potential to facilitate the analysis of older artworks in a historical context. This project endeavors to employ generative image models to produce visualisations of significant Slovenian artworks that have either been lost, damaged, destroyed, or never realized.
Through a series of case studies focusing on architecture, sculpture and painting across various historical periods, the project team aims to develop a novel interdisciplinary methodology integrating the approaches of art history, computer science, and philosophy. Our main objective is to develop a comprehensive set of guidelines that support the integration of generative image models into art-based research workflows while taking into account the ethical implications of AI implementation in the humanities with the aim of responsible and equitable utilization. We believe that the proposed methodology has the potential to revolutionize day-to-day research in the humanities by enabling the regular verification of research hypotheses through the use of affordable and user-friendly generative image models. With the project, we seeks to foster a paradigm shift in the development of generative diffusion models to better support the humanities while providing AI tool developers with a user-centric perspective on new directions for technological advancement.
