5月24日(米国時間)、Waylandのメーリングリストにおいて、Waylandのみで動作するようになった新しい「Wayland Live CD」が報告された。これまで起動の途中でXアプリケーションが使用されていたため、Xサーバが起動していたが、新しいLiveCDでは完全にWaylandアプリケーションのみでシステムが起動するように書き換えられている。 システム起動後にXアプリケーションを起動すると、xwaylandappを使うことになりXサーバが起動する。Wayland単体でシステムが起動すること、Xアプリケーションも実行できるように互換性が確保されていることなどを確認できる。
