RustはMozilla内でスタートしたプログラミング言語の開発プロジェクト。CやJavaに近い文法を持つが、動的な型付けやジェネリクスといった機能を持ち、またNullポインタやバッファオーバーフローといった問題の発生しない安全なメモリ管理モデル、並列性の高さなどが特徴。ライセンスはMIT LicenseとApache License 2のデュアルライセンスで、2012年1月に0.1公開以来、活発に開発が進んでいる。 Rust 0.8は7月に公開されたバージョン0.7に続くリリースとなり、合計で約2200の変更が加わったという。言語面では、forループでIteratorトレイトを利用できるよう変更された。これによって、より簡潔にループ処理を記述できるという。また、文字列フォーマットのためのformat!マクロも新たに導入された。従来のfmt!マクロを置き換えるものになるという。C言語で実装
