- Die Katholische Hochschule ITI (vormals: Internationales Theologisches Institut – Hochschule für Katholische Theologie) ist ein im Schloss Trumau im niederösterreichischen Ort Trumau beheimatetes Päpstliches Institut für das Studium der katholischen Theologie mit besonderer Berücksichtigung der Thematik von Ehe und Familie. Das Institut wurde auf Initiative von Papst Johannes Paul II. durch Dekret der Kongregation für das Katholische Bildungswesen vom 1. Oktober 1996 als „Internationales Theologisches Institut für Studien zu Ehe und Familie“ in der Kartause Maria Thron in Gaming (Niederösterreich, Diözese St. Pölten) errichtet, nachdem eine Gruppe von Bischöfen aus Österreich 1994 beim Heiligen Stuhl dies beantragt hatte. Im Jahr 2009 siedelte die Hochschule in das Schloss Trumau (Erzdiözese Wien) um, gleichzeitig wurde der Name in „Internationales Theologisches Institut – Hochschule für Katholische Theologie“ geändert. Die aktuelle Fassung der Statuten der jetzt „Katholische Hochschule ITI“ genannten Einrichtung wurde am 26. Januar 2021 vom Heiligen Stuhl approbiert. Der Großkanzler des Instituts ist Christoph Kardinal Schönborn. Das ITI verleiht unter Auflagen vier kanonisch anerkannte Grade:
* Master in Theologie (STM): dafür werden zehn Semester Theologiestudium benötigt
* Lizenziat in Theologie mit Spezialisierung in Ehe und Familie (STL): entspricht dem kanonischen Lizenziat in Theologie
* Master in Theologischen Studien zu Ehe und Familie (MMF)
* Doktor in der Theologie (STD) Ein Spezifikum des ITI besteht darin, die kirchlichen Traditionen des Ostens und des Westens miteinander zu verbinden. Es gibt am ITI daher Eucharistiefeiern sowohl nach römisch-katholischem als auch nach griechisch-katholischem Ritus (Seelsorge durch das Ordinariat für die byzantinischen Gläubigen in Österreich). Der Rektor des ITI ist derzeit Christiaan Alting von Geusau, vorher waren dies Larry Hogan und Michael Waldstein (Gründungspräsident). - ITI Catholic University (German: Katholische Hochschule ITI) is a Catholic theological school in Austria. The school was founded in 1996 as the International Theological Institute at the request of Pope John Paul II. It was then located in the Kartause Gaming and moved in 2009 to Schloss Trumau near Vienna. Its motto is 'Sicut cervus ad fontes'. The ITI's patrons are St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, St. Thomas Aquinas and St. Zdislava of Lemberk. The ITI's mission, as established by Pope John Paul II, unites in a special manner the Eastern and Western traditions of the Church. The Mass/Divine Liturgy is celebrated daily in both the Roman and Byzantine Rites respectively. From its inception the ITI has also given special attention to marriage and family. The Institute employs the Great Books method in its pedagogy in preference to lecture-based instruction in the encyclopedist tradition. The ITI is committed to the primacy of Thomas Aquinas in Philosophy and Theology, it gives a special weighting to the Greek Fathers. The student body tends to number around 70-90 students from all five continents. On March 1 2021, the school's name was changed to "Katholische Hochschule ITI" in German, and "ITI Catholic University" in English. (en)
