- Der Stetind (samisch Státtájåhkkå) ist ein 1.392 m hoher Berg am Tysfjord in Nord-Norwegen. Die Übersetzung seines norwegischen Namens bedeutet „Ambosszinne“. Im Jahr 2002 wurde er in Norwegen zum „Nationalberg“ gekürt. Nach einigen Besteigungsversuchen Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts gelang 1910 die erstmalige Besteigung des Berges durch Ferdinand Schjeldrup, Carl Wilhelm Rubenson und Alf Bonnevie Bryn. Die erste Winterbesteigung sowie die Durchsteigung der äußerst schwierigen Westwand gelang dem norwegischen Öko-Philosophen und Bergsteiger Arne Næss. Stetind gilt als höchster Granit-Obelisk der Erde. Seine Umgebung überragt und beherrscht er deutlich. Die Lage weit im Norden und die oft extremen Wetterbedingungen machen seine Besteigung auch auf dem Normalweg zu einem ernsten Unterfangen. Durch den Berg führt seit den 1980er Jahren ein Tunnel des RV 827, ein Bauwerk, das unter den Einheimischen wie auch unter Naturschützern äußerst umstritten ist. (de)

Los primeros intentos serios de escalar la montaña fueron del alemán Paul Güssfeldt y el noruego Martin Ekroll durante el verano de 1888; tras ellos llegaron el danés Carl Hall y el guía noruego Mathias Soggemoen, quienes lo intentaron en 1889. Ya en el siglo XX, tampoco lo consiguió. No fue hasta el 30 de julio de 1910 cuando , y lograron finalmente llegar a la cumbre. Arne Næss, Ralph Høibakk y K. Friis Baasted lo escalaron en invierno por primera vez en 1963 por su cara este. También Arne Næss, junto a otros cuatro escaladores, fue en 1966 el primero en hacer cumbre por su cara oeste. (es)
