Research Focus:
Research, since 1968, at Polish Academy of Sciences on
general seismology, mathematical theory of dislocations and cracks, high
pressure and temperature physics, electro-and magneto-mechanical phenomena
related to earthquakes, resistivity anomalies related to rockbursts. Since 1980
in USA, research on modelling of great tectonic earthquakes along simple plate
boundaries, seismicity patterns, mechanics of subduction zones in connection
with earthquake cycles, intermediate-term earthquake prediction, rupture
interaction with fault geometry, dynamics of fault branching and jumping, and
off-fault damage.
