One of the most important writers of the twentieth century, Marguerite Yourcenar's Oriental Tales, first published in 1938, consists of ten tales inspired by the ballads, tales and legends of the Eastern and Balkan regions, also stories that the author herself fictionalised. Most of the tales had published in the magazines La Revue Européenne, La Revue de Paris, Nouvelles Littéraire, La Revue de France and La Nouvelle Française between 1928 and 1978. In the editions of the work published in 1963 and 1978, it is seen that the author made changes and arrangements in some of his tales. In our thesis study, we are going to discuss the tales in the 1978 edition in the context of archetypal criticism theory. Yourcenar, who frequently uses historical events and myths as sources in her Oriental Tales, refers to the social problems of the epoch she lives in. The author annotates the subjects she constructs by blending them with myths and historical facts with a rich imagination. It is seen that scientific studies, especially in the fields of anthropology and psychology, in the twentieth century had significant effects on the formation and development of archetypal critical theory. The process, which started with Freud's analytical psychology theory studies which transfers of dreams, symbols and myths to a scientific field, finds the opportunity to be examined in a wider area with the collective unconscious and archetype theories in Jung's analytical psychology theory. Synthesizing the East and the West, Yourcenar effectively presents life to the reader in all its reality by creating contrasts. The author, who tries to reveal the bright and dark sides of human by taking the archetypes in the unconscious without making any judgments, contributes to creating a bridge between today's people and the past. In our study, we aim to represent some light on human life by revealing the archetypes reflected from the unconscious through Yourcenar's work Oriental Tales. In our thesis, we will analyse the archetypal and symbolic elements in Yourcenar's tales collection through the archetypal criticism theory, which is a "work-oriented" analysis method.

Tarihsel açıdan insanlık kadar eskilere dayanan ve günümüz toplumları tarafından sorunsallaştırılan şiddet, aynı zamanda insan hakları ihlallerinden biri olarak görülmektedir. Erkek egemen toplumların içinde cinsiyet rolleri çerçevesinde kısıtlanan, farklı kültürlerden ve toplumlardan kadınlar, eğitim düzeyi ne olursa olsun şiddete maruz kalan birincil grubu oluşturmaktadır. İnsanlık tarihi boyunca farklı özelliklere sahip bireylerin ayrıştırılması amacıyla bir araç olarak kullanılan damga, 20. yüzyılla birlikte toplumsal boyut kazanarak kuramsallaştırılmıştır. İlk olarak suçlu tipolojileri üzerinde yapılan çalışmalarla başlayan damga kuramı, toplumbilimci Erving Goffman tarafından geliştirilmiş ve damganın insan ilişkileri sırasında ortaya çıkarak bireyin toplum tarafından kabul görmesini engelleyen bir durum olarak tanımlanmıştır. Eski çağlarda suçluları görünür kılmak amacıyla başlayan damgalama uygulamaları günümüzde zihinsel ve fiziksel engeli bulunan bireyleri, farklı etnik kökene sahip toplulukları hatta farklı cinsel yönelimi olan kişileri ayrıştırmak amacıyla kullanılır. Damgalanarak ötekileştirilen bireyler toplum içinde yer edinmekte güçlük çeker ve bu damgaların toplum tarafından yeniden üretilmesi, ötekileştirmenin sürekliliğine zemin hazırlar. Bununla birlikte 18. yüzyıldan başlayarak 20. yüzyıla kadar fiziksel damgaya sahip bireylerin sirklerde ve çeşitli alanlarda kamuya açık bir şekilde teşhir edildiği bilinen bir gerçektir. Ancak ne yazık ki günümüzde hala toplumsal bir sorun olmaya devam eden damgalama uygulamaları akademik çalışmalarda ve yazınsal yapıtlarda yeteri kadar ele alınmamaktadır. Bu noktada damgalamanın birey üzerinde psikolojik, toplum üzerinde ise sosyolojik etkilerinin özümsenmesi, farkındalık oluşturulması ve gerekli önlemlerin alınabilmesi için daha fazla akademik çalışmaya gereksinim vardır. Bu çalışma, Gineli frankofon yazar Libar M. Fofana’nın biri damgalı diğeri normal siyam ikizlerini konu alan L’étrange Rêve d’une Femme Inachevée (Eksik Bir Kadının Garip Düşü) adlı romanı çerçevesinde, damgalı bireylerin yaşam boyu deneyimlemek zorunda kaldıkları güçlükleri, Goffman‘ın damga kuramından yola çıkarak irdelemeyi amaçlamaktadır.

Imagology studies were initiated in the second half of the twentieth century, especially to reveal the
power of mass media. These studies have become used in the analysis and interpretation of literary works
because they reflect society and are used extensively in literature. Imagology is a discipline that allows a deep
understanding of the text by examining the meaning, symbolic value and function of the author’s language and
visual images within the literary text. For this reason, imagology studies consider the social, cultural, and
historical contexts of literary works and reveal the author’s perpective. They gain importance especially in
revealing the way nations perceive each other. Orhan Pamuk creates works in fictions where different cultures
coexist, based on the conglicts and interactions between Eastern and Western culture. Thanks to this feature,
Pamuk prepares the appropriate grounds for imagoloy studies by writing narratives in which Turkish and
Muslim cultures in the process of modernization interact with Christian culture in his novels. In this study, the
novel Plague Nights by Nobel Prize-winnig author Pamuk, who often pits East against West in his works, was
analyzed within the framework of Daniel-Henri Pageaux’s imagology method. It has been revealed that Pamuk
uses the image of plague to criticize alienation, the human condition, society’s view of groups perceived as
other, and the political policies of gouvernements. However, within the context of imagology studies, the
narrator’s Muslim and Christian image was analyzed and his perpective on the other was tried to be revealed
based on the semantic units used by different societies to define the other.

Transhumanism sees the next step of the evolution of humanity in technology, together with the developments in the twentieth century and the influence of positivism. It desires to use technology as o tool for a stronger, smarter, non-sick, even immortal humanity. Transhumanists developed in an environment where the influence of humanism was reduced due to materialism and they aim to create a superhuman through technologies such as biotechnology, nanotechnology, artificial intelligence and cloning. In literature, which is a close follower mirror of social developments, transhumanist works are frequently encountered as they create a suitable environment for the development and discussion of transhumanist ideas. Therefor Transhumanism has become an important subject in world literature and has attracted the attention of French authors. Michel Houellebecq, one of the leading figures of contemporary French literature, is famous for deeply processing existential themes and bringing striking subjects such as religion, nudity and the human condition into his novels by refence. His novel Elementary Particles, published in 1998, problematizes the potential return of transhumanist ideas, human desires and technological advances, while depicting a modern society where life has lost its meaning with the advancement of scientific developments. This article aims to reveal the author's ideas for the future of humanity in a world driven by the increasing use of technology while critically investigating the traces of transhumanism in Houellebecq's Elementary Particles. After providing an overview of the theory, the study tries to reveal the author's transhumanist ideas and the potential consequences of transcending human boundaries by making use of important themes and passages in the novel.

André Gide, a writer of the twentieth century, has his way of interpreting the problems of his generation. He differs from other writers because he does not like imitation. In his novel, Strait Is the Gate, Gide criticizes the exaggeration on the path of virtue. By renouncing life, Alissa not only spoils her life but also spoils the lives of those who love her. The narrative appears like this on the surface but we must go down into the depths to clarify things. As it is said so well, the medallion has two faces. Even if Alissa appears to abandon herself on the path of God, there are implicit reasons which push her towards despair. In reality, Alissa remains impotent before her sentimental failure and finds no outlet to get by. So she renounces life because she can no longer stand this painful situation. Death seems to her a solution to escape from it. This is the case of many young people who live in the same difficult period. Their weakness ends up annihilating them because they lose their hope.

Dans cinq romans de Gide Les Cahiers d'André Walter, L'Immoraliste, La Porte étroite, Isabelle, La Symhonie Pastorale on voit un protagoniste qui essaie de créer d'abord une doctrine absolue et immuable pour lui-même, puis d'ironiser son monde romanesque tout en faisant contact avec le monde extérieur et la vie réelle et de juger et critiquer ses anciens sentiments. Une évolution psychologique à trois étages est vue chez le protagoniste. Dans son Immoraliste Gide nous montre l'évolution à trois étapes de son héros Michel qui, libéré de la conception morale protestante, oppose au moralisme traditionnel et tente d'obtenir une liberté absolue. Dans la première étape, le héros constitue une conception de la liberté absolue incompatible avec la vie réelle sous la influence de Ménalque, un philosophe immoraliste dont la philosophie consiste en immoralisme et hédonisme. Dans la deuxième étape, Michel lutte pour obtenir une liberté absolue et cherche à pratiquer sa doctrine: Michel est attiré par les personnes vivant dans la pauvreté dépourvue de la sagesse de la vie. Il néglige sa femme qui tombe malade. Il vit les allées et les venues entre le bien et le mal. Il préfère le mal. Il cause la mort de sa femme. Il devient prisonnier de ses passions et ses désirs pédophiles. Dans la troisième étape, Michel fait face à la réalité de la vie. Il est déprimé et ne sait pas comment sortir de cette vie infernale. Il découvre que la doctrine de la liberté absolue lui mène à la misère et à la déception et ne fait pas le bonheur. Le fait qu'il se repent de ses pervers des relations sexuelles et qu'il invoque à ses amis nous montrent l'ironie de la doctrine de la liberté absolue.

As a pastry chef, the writer André Gide kneads his dough differently with the intention of putting an end to imitation in the world of the novel. He has the courage to treat the subject of the novel on the contrary to his contemporaries. He succeeds by introducing the reader into the novel. The reader finds fantastic stories and interesting characters in The Counterfeiters. Themes such as the hypocrisy and falsity of these characters are a reflection of the title that evokes them. Gide transmits this problematic period to the reader with surprising skill. The contrast in the words and behaviors of people are the evil traces of war.

Yazarımız bu masal kitabını, halktan elde ettiği derlemeler sonucunda, çocuk edebiyatına yeni bir soluk getirmesi amacıyla kaleme almıştır. Özet Çeviribilimin inceleme ve uygulama alanlarından biri olan çeviri eleştirisi basit tanımıyla kaynak metnin dokusunun erek metinde nasıl şekillendiğini karşılaştırmalı olarak inceler. Diğer bir deyişle kaynak metne özgü unsurların anlamsal ve dilsel karşılıklarının çevirmenin seçimlerini eleştirel bağlamda ele alarak, hedef metine nasıl aktarıldığını çözümler. Son yıllarda özellikle Türkçe'nin yabancılara öğretilmesi konusunda artan ülkeler arası anlaşmalar, diğer toplumların Türkçe'ye, Türk edebiyatına ilgisini arttırmıştır. Bu ilginin sonucunda diğer dillere çevrilen yapıtlarımız da artış göstermekte ve dilimiz, kültürümüz, edebiyatımız çeviri aracılığıyla diğer toplumlara tanıtılmaktadır. Bir milleti temsil eden çeviri yapıtlar ve temsilciler olan çevirmenler de çeviri eleştirmenleri tarafından mercek altına alınmaktadır. Bu bağlamda karşılaştırmalı çeviri çözümlemesi yöntemiyle kaynak yapıt 'Serdar Özkan'ın Kayıp Gül adlı yapıtında teşbih olarak kullanılan 'gül' sözcüklerinin geçtiği mistik söylemlerin İngilizce'den çevrilen, çalışmada erek yapıt olarak ele aldığımız Fransızca La Rose Retrouvée'de nasıl şekillendiğini, çevirmen kararlarını, kaynak okurda uyanan hislerin erek okurda da uyanıp uyanamayacağı yaklaşımıyla incelemeye alacağız. Yazar Serdar Özkan'ın yapıtında gül etrafında oluşturduğu teşbihler karşılaştırmalı çözümleme yapabilmek için kaynak metinden seçeceğimiz kesitleri oluşturmaktadır. Bu çalışmada amaç çeviri çözümlemesi yöntemine bilimsel anlamda bir örnek sunmak ve gül teşbihi etrafında gelişen mistik söylemlerin anlamsal karşılıklarının çevirmen kararıyla erek yapıttaki eşdeğerleri göstermektir. Tasavvufi bir dil kullanan yazarın yapıtta kullandığı gül teşbihiyle vurgulamak istediği Allah, Hz. Muhammed sevgisi, insanın içindeki iman, dervişler yani genel ifadeyle dini unsurlardır. Çevirmen biçemsel ve anlamsal açıdan eşdeğerliği sağlasa dahi, kültürel kodlardaki farklılıklardan dolayı erek okurda aynı hissi uyandırmanın zorluğunu örneklerle göstermeye çalışacağımız bu çalışmada, çevirmenin dizgesel tercihlerini biçemsel, anlamsal açıdan ele alacağız.
