This study investigated the challenges and prospects of serials management in Alvan and Futo libraries Owerri. It was guided with three research questions. A descriptive survey design was used for the study with a population of 10 Librarians. The instrument for data collection was structured questionnaire. Percentages, mean scores and frequency tables were used in analyzing the data. The findings revealed that the serial section is stocked with more outdated journals, newspapers, bulletins, magazine, annual proceedings and monographs but, there are missing gaps. The finding also revealed that facilities and services are provided in serial sections of the libraries, but are inadequate. The paper therefore recommends that the authorities should provide adequate funds for the library to make available relevant, current and adequate serial, facilities and services so as to be able to meet the users' needs.

This study investigated the relationship between re-skilling and librarians' competency towards library automation among federal universities libraries in eastern nigeria. Three research questions and one hypothesis were formulated and guided the study. Descriptive survey design was adopted for the study. The entire population of 124 librarians in 5 federal universities in South East participated in the study. Questionnaire was used to collect data. The instrument was validated by three experts in the Faculty of Education. Data obtained were analyzed using range of score and percentage. Pearson Correlation Coefficient was employed to test the relationship between ICT capacity building and librarians' task. The findings of the study showed that national conferences, workshop/trainings, seminars and interpersonal training/mentorship were most organized ICT capacity building for librarians. Result of the hypothesis showed that, there is a significant relationship between the ICT capacity building and librarians' task in library automation practice in these academic libraries. The null hypothesis was thus, accepted. Considering the low ICT tasks by the librarians studied, and the significant relationship found, the study recommended that the university management and the library management should introduce regular ICT trainings for librarians. Furthermore, regular sponsorship is recommended of librarians to various ICT related capacity building programs especially, national and international. The study also recommended that librarians should be encouraged and sponsored for further studies. These will help improve their electronic services and tasks for better services to the current digital age users.

ABSTRACT The study investigated library information resources and as correlates of users’ satisfaction in libraries of universities in Nigeria. To guide the study the researcher posed three research objectives and formulated three research questions. The researcher employed inferential survey and correlational research designs. The area of the study is the South east geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The sample size of 400 was sampled from a population of 130,000 undergraduate students using multistage cluster cum stratified simple random sampling. University Library Information Resources and User Satisfaction–rating scale (ULIRSUSRS) was used for data collection. The research questions were answered using expected mean and Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC). The major findings are: there is a low extent of availability of current information resources in the university libraries; there is a high level of satisfaction of library users in the university libraries; information resources and significantly correlates with users’ satisfaction. The researcher therefore recommended among others that university library management should ensure the availability of library information resources and services to the highest extent possible; should ensure internet services are made available and accessible; provision of information services in the university libraries be improved on or sustained so as to encourage potential users to become habitual ones. Keywords: Library, Information, Resources, Users Satisfaction, University.
