The study consisted of a cross-sectional survey, with data constructed through an online questionnaire that included sociodemographic information and information about anxiety symptoms. The questions were constructed considering the concept of “mental health waves”, as being the mental health demands presented at the respective moment of the pandemic. The sample consisted of 632 participants, and the prevalence of anxiety identified was 81%, with no statistically significant differences between genders. The main factors related to anxiety were loneliness (OR=2.18, 95% CI=1.16-4.09), sleeping difficulties (OR=2.59, 95% CI=1.57-4.28), irritability (OR= 1.85, 95% CI=1.11-3.09), financial difficulties (OR=1.85, 95% CI=1.01-3.40), and problems related to emotional isolation (OR=2.43, 95% CI=1.47- 4.01). In the context of the challenges for mental health, the results obtained contribute to deeper understanding of the changes related to anxiety that emerged with the advent of social distancing policies and the context of the pandemic. Since the school does not act effectively to extinguish it, young people decide to impose changes in their behavior to preserve their physical integrity. We start from the assumption that the body means a relationship between the subject and its socio-cultural insertion. The study data are derived from a master's dissertation research. It followed a qualitative descriptive design with non - probabilistic sampling, for convenience. We interviewed ten homosexual men between 18 and 30 years, victims of homophobic violence in schools in Manaus, Brazil. We used a semi-structured interview, conducted in place, time, and day combined between the participants and the researchers. Data were analyzed according to a theory proposed by Bardin (2002). We reached two categories: Embarrassment and stigmatization; and Changes, the body in focus. The first refers to homophobic aggression due to sexuality or b...

Two MD students had high expectations of experiencing health care in the Amazonas interior, as they realized that there was a lapse in their academic training. They questioned the fact that they were about to take the place of "doctors trained by the state of Amazonas" without knowing the population, ethnocultural and geographical variety of the region. This lack encouraged the choice of the location of the internship to be the city of São Gabriel da Cachoeira. Methods:Meetings and lectures were held with health teams that enabled clinical experiences and interactions with indigenous and riverside residents. Finally, seminars/activity reports were produced, which contributed to the awakening of reflections on medical practices. Thus, this experience report is based on the particular apprehension of the reality d...

Objective: To measure the knowledge of health academics about LGBT health, thus ascertaining the degree of knowledge based on the National Integral Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transvestite, and Transgender Health Policy. Methodology: Qualitative descriptive-exploratory research. The exploratory study investigated the familiarization with the phenomenon, the perception, and the discovery of ideas about the targeted subject. Results: Given the difficulties, discrimination, and violence that this group is exposed to in health services, there is a need for continuing education for health professionals, to be honest service and free of pre-established concepts and discriminatory. Conclusion: The effectiveness of the policy is to eliminate this barrier that exists in demand for care with people of the LGBT population, which leaves them vulnerable and excluded concerning other populations.

The method used was an integrative literature review, with searches in the LILACS and SciELO databases. For the selection of publications, the following descriptors were used: Primary Care; Mental Health; Community Health Workers; Mental Health Care; Public Policies; Mental Health Practices and combinations of the descriptors. The following filters were used: Full text; Language, being Portuguese, English and Spanish; Main subject; Document type, being article the only accepted literature modality; Publication year 2015 to 2019. The study of therapeutic itineraries (TI) for treatment of snakebites would support strategies to provide timely access to users. A TI is the set of processes by which individuals adhere to certain forms of treatment, and includes the path traveled in the search for healthcare, and practices to solve their health problems. This study aims to describe TIs of snakebite patients in the Brazilian Amazon. This study was carried out at the Fundação de Medicina Tropical Doutor Heitor Vieira Dourado, in Manaus, state of Amazonas, Brazil. The itinerary from the moment of the bite to the patient’s admission to the reference unit was analyzed. Sample size was defined by saturation. After an exploratory survey to collect epidemiological variables, in-depth interviews were conducted following a semi-structured guide. Patients originated from rural areas of 11 different municipalities, including ones located >500 kilometers from Manaus. A great fragmentation was observed in the itineraries, marked by several changes of means of transport along the route. Four themes emerged from the analysis: exposure to snakebite during day-to-day activities, use of traditional therapeutic practices, and personal perception of the severity, as well as the route taken and its contingencies. Access to healthcare requires considerable effort on the part of snakebite patients. Major barriers were identified, such as the low number of hospitals that offer antivenom treatment, poor access to healthcare due to long distances and geographic barriers, low acceptability of healthcare offered in countryside, lack of use of personal protective equipment, common use of ineffective or deleterious self-care practices, late recognition of serious clinical signs and resistance to seeking medical assistance. Health education, promotion of immediate transport to health centers and decentralization of antivenom from reference hospitals to community healthcare centers in the Brazilian Amazon are more effective strategies that would to maximize access to antivenom treatment.
