One of the critical success cocoa cultivation is the use of quality plant materials. Cocoa plant material obtained through propagation techniques Somatic Embryogenesis (SE) is the latest method that can produce planlet that are the same with source, have a taproot and a branched structure similar with plant from seeds. Another advantage of this SE technique can be mass-produced seedlings, pest-disease free, growth is more uniform, more vigor, high yield and drought resistant. The objective of the experiment is to know the growth media composition which give the best effect on growth cacao seedling (Theobroma cacao L.) from Somatic Embryogenesis (SE). The experiment was conducted at The Agricultural Experiment Station of Agriculture Faculty, Padjadjaran University, Jatinangor, altitude ±700 m above sea level with soil type is Inceptisols. The experiment was conducted from June until October 2013, used Randomized Block Design (RBD), consisted of nine treatments combinations and replicated three times. The treatments were topsoil : casting (2 : 1) + urea 0,5 g application-1 , topsoil : cattle dung (2 : 1) + urea 0,5 g application-1 , topsoil : cacao pods compost (2 : 1) + urea 0,5 g application-1 , topsoil : casting (2 : 1) + urea 0,75 g application-1 , topsoil : cattle dung (2 : 1) + urea 0,75 g application-1 , topsoil : cacao pods compost (2 : 1) + urea 0,75 g application-1 , topsoil : casting (2 : 1) + urea 1 g application-1 , topsoil : cattle dung (2 : 1) + urea 1 g application-1 , topsoil : cacao pods compost (2 : 1) + urea 1 g application-1. The result of the experiment showed that the growth media composition consist of topsoil : casting (2 : 1) + urea 0,75 g application-1 give better effect on vegetative growth of cacao seedling from SE compared to other treatment combinations, increased stem diameter, leaves number, shoot dry weight and total plant dry weight at 16 MST is 17,54g. Abstrak Salah satu penentu keberhasilan budidaya kakao adalah penggunaan bibit tanaman berkualitas. Bibit kakao yang diperoleh melalui teknik perbanyakan Somatik Embriogenesis (SE) adalah metode terbaru yang dapat menghasilkan planlet yang sama dengan sumber, memiliki akar tunggang dan struktur bercabang mirip dengan tanaman dari biji. Keuntungan lain dari teknik SE ini dapat memproduksi bibit secara massal, bebas hama-penyakit, pertumbuhan lebih seragam, vigor lebih baik, hasil tinggi dan tahan kekeringan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui komposisi media tumbuh yang memberikan efek terbaik pada pertumbuhan bibit kakao (Theobroma cacao L.) asal Somatik Embriogenesis (SE). Penelitian dilakukan di lahan Percobaan Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Padjadjaran, Jatinangor, ketinggian ± 700 m di atas permukaan laut dengan jenis tanah Inceptisols. Penelitian dilakukan dari bulan Juni sampai Oktober 2013, menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok (RAK), terdiri dari sembilan perlakuan kombinasi dan direplikasi tiga kali. Nagari Sungai Dareh Kecamatan Pulau Punjung Kabupaten Dharmasraya merupakan kawasan yang terletak di tepi Sungai Batang Hari. Sungai harus dilindungi dan dipelihara kelestariannya serta ditingkatkan fungsi dan manfaatnya guna kesehatan dan keberlanjutan ekosistem. Penanaman aren di bantaran sungai merupakan salah satu cara yang dapat dilakukan untuk menjaga kelestarian sungai. Selain bermanfaat untuk konservasi, aren juga memiliki nilai ekonomis yang tinggi. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk pemberdayaan masyarakat dengan cara: 1) Kegiatan konservasi di bantaran sungai Batang Hari, dan 2) Pengenalan tanaman aren serta meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan masyarakat dalam hal budidaya aren. Cacao (Theobroma cacao L.) is one of the plantation crop that has high economic value. Therefore it is important to carry out cacao cultivation as recommended. The objective of this study was to collect data on the cultivation characteristics on smallholder cacao plantations where located in Panti Sub-district, Pasaman District. Crickets feces manure is the solid waste produced by cricket metabolism which contains some nutrients. Its application as the mix of planting medium is very potential for increasing plant growth. The objectives of this study were to determine the effect of several doses of crickets feces manure on the growth of cacao (Theobroma cacao L.) seedling and to obtain the best dose of it for growth of cacao seedlings. This research was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 4 replications to obtained 20 experiment units, and each of it consisted of 3 plants, so there were total 60 plants. Generally, the cacao farmers in Harau, Lima Puluh Kota District cultivating the cacao crops that unclear identity of its seed and there is also a high level of cacao diversity.
