Description:
In November 2019, NBC's Meet the Press announced a County to County project, where they would embed reporters in five communities around the country to capture views on the presidential election in 2020. Kent County, Michigan was identified as one of those communities, and local citizens were interviewed for the project. In general, Michigan and Grand Rapids were noted as important places to watch for the 2020 presidential election.

ArtPrize is an open, independently organized international art competition which takes place for 19 days every other fall in Grand Rapids, Michigan. "Barbara Vander Mark (3/27/1950 - 1/15/2017) was a native and long-time resident of Grand Rapids. She graduated from Central High School's class of 1968 and attended Western Michigan University. She spent most of her professional life with the City of Grand Rapids, working in various capacities in the Police Department, Public Housing Office and City Assessor's Office. She had a sharp mind and high standards. Ms. Vander Mark loved genealogy and local history. She maintained a website for public use full of noteworthy information on Grand Rapids' historic neighborhoods, street maps, fire barns and public schools. She made presentations at the Grand Rapids Public Library and assembled a book of local genealogy materials for the library." -Quoted from Ms. Vander Mark's obituary.
