In this paper we find analytical expressions for thermodynamic quantities of scalar (tensor) and vector unparticle static black holes. We also find rotating solutions to these systems and analyse their thermodynamics. First we consider the static case with a spherically symmetric source for both the vector and scalar (tensor) unparticles. We obtain thus analytical expressions to the principal thermodynamic quantities: Hawking temperature, entropy, heat capacity and free energy. For the scalar (tensor) case we find that the black hole presents a residual value for the entropy when its radius goes to zero but the other thermodynamic quantities give, for any horizon radius, a thermodynamically unstable behavior similar to the standard black hole. For the vector case we find a richer structure in the region in which the horizon radius is less than the characteristic length of the unparticle theory. We identify a phase transition and a region where the black hole can be thermodynamically stable. Following, we show that the mentioned modifications in the standard gravity are formally similar to those ones present in the black holes with quintessence. With this we also show, notwithstanding, that the unparticles cannot be a source of quintessence. By using this similarity we find two different rotating solutions to the unparticle black holes based on works by Ghosh and Toshmatov {\it et al}. For both cases we compute the Hawking temperature and in the ungravity dominated regime we find, as in the static cases, a fractalization of the event horizon. For the Gosh-like solution the fractal dimension depends on the polar angle and on the rotation of the source. For the Toshmatov-like one it is equal to the static case and therefore the fractalization is not dependent on the rotation of the source.

In this work we analyze the zero mode localization and resonances of $1/2-$spin fermions in co-dimension one Randall-Sundrum braneworld scenarios. We consider delta-like, domain walls and deformed domain walls membranes. Beyond the influence of the spacetime dimension $D$ we also consider three types of couplings: (i) the standard Yukawa coupling with the scalar field and parameter $η_1$, (ii) a Yukawa-dilaton coupling with two parameters $η_2$ and $λ$ and (iii) a dilaton derivative coupling with parameter $h$. Together with the deformation parameter $s$, we end up with five free parameter to be considered. For the zero mode we find that the localization is dependent of $D$, because the spinorial representation changes when the bulk dimensionality is odd or even and must be treated separately. For case (i) we find that in odd dimensions only one chirality can be localized and for even dimension a massless Dirac spinor is trapped over the brane. In the cases (ii) and (iii) we find that for some values of the parameters, both chiralities can be localized in odd dimensions and for even dimensions we obtain that the massless Dirac spinor is trapped over the brane. We also calculated numerically resonances for cases (ii) and (iii) by using the transfer matrix method. We find that, for deformed defects, the increasing of $D$ induces a shift in the peaks of resonances. For a given $λ$ with domain walls, we find that the resonances can show up by changing the spacetime dimensionality. For example, the same case in $D=5$ do not induces resonances but when we consider $D=10$ one peak of resonance is found. Therefore the introduction of more dimensions, diversely from the bosonic case, can change drastically the zero mode and resonances in fermion fields.

In this paper we generalize our previous model (arXiv: 1705.09331), on a hidden conformal symmetry of smooth braneworld scenarios, to the case with two real scalar fields non-minimally coupled to gravity. The gauge condition reduces the action of the system to the action were gravity minimally couples to one of the scalar fields, plus a cosmological constant. We show that, depending on the internal symmetry of the scalar fields, the two possibilities, $SO(2)$ or $SO(1,1)$, emerge. In the $SO(2)$ case we get a ghost-like scalar field action, which can describe two models -- Standing Wave and Sine-Gordon smooth braneworlds. For the $SO(1,1)$ case we get the standard sign for the kinetic part of the scalar field. By breaking the $SO(1,1)$ symmetry (but keeping the conformal one) we are able to get two Randall-Sundrum models, with a non-minimal coupling and with a scalar field having hyperbolic potential. We conclude that this method can be seen as a solution-generating technique and a natural way to introduce non-trivial scalar fields that can provide smooth braneworld models.

In this manuscript we describe a hidden conformal symmetry of the second Randall-Sundrum model (RS2). We show how this can be used to localize fermions of both chiralities. The conformal symmetry leaves few free dimensionless constants and constrains the allowed interactions. In this formulation the warping of the extra dimension emerges from a partial breaking of the conformal symmetry in five dimensions. The solution of the system can be described in two alternative gauges: by the metric or by the conformon. By considering this as a fundamental symmetry we construct a conformally invariant action for a vector field which provides a massless photon localized over a Minkowski brane. This is obtained by a conformal non-minimal coupling that breaks the gauge symmetry in five dimensions. We further consider a generalization of the model by including conformally invariant torsion. By coupling torsion non-minimally to fermions we obtain a localized zero mode of both chiralities completing the consistence of the model. The inclusion of torsion introduces a fermion quartic interaction that can be used to probe the existence of large extra dimensions and the validity of the model. This seems to point to the fact that conformal symmetry may be more fundamental than gauge symmetry and that this is the missing ingredient for the full consistence of RS scenarios.

In this manuscript we show that the geometrical localization mechanism implies a four dimensional mass for the photon. The consistence of the model provides a mass given exactly by $m_γ=\sqrt{R}/4$ where $R$ is the Ricci scalar. As a consequence, the cosmological photon has a mass related to the vacuum solution of the Einstein equation. At the present age of the universe we have a dS vacuum with $R=4Λ$, where Lambda is a positive cosmological constant. With this we find that $m_γ\approx 2\times 10^{-69}$ kg, which is below the present experimental upper bounds, and such correction may be observed in the next years with more precise measurements. By considering the value of $R$ inside some astrophysical sources and environments we find that the bound is also satisfied. The experimental verification of this mass, beyond pointing to the existence of extra dimensions, would imply in a fundamental change in cosmology, astrophysics and in particle physics since the same mechanism is valid for non-abelian gauge fields.

In this paper we compute the corrections to the black-body force (BBF) potential due to spacetime geometry and topology. This recently discovered attractive force on neutral atoms is caused by the thermal radiation emitted from black bodies and here we investigate it in relativistic gravitational systems with spherical and cylindrical symmetries. For some astrophysical objects we find that the corrected black-body potential is greater than the flat case, showing that this kind of correction can be quite relevant when curved spaces are considered. Then we consider four cases: The Schwarzschild spacetime, the global monopole, the non-relativistic infinity cylinder and the static cosmic string. For the spherically symmetric case of a massive body, we find that two corrections appear: One due to the gravitational modification of the temperature and the other due to the modification of the solid angle subtended by the atom. We apply the found results to a typical neutron star and to the Sun. For the global monopole, the modification in the black-body potential is of topological nature and it is due to the central solid angle deficit that occurs in the spacetime generated by that object. In the cylindrical case, which is locally flat, no gravitational correction to the temperature exists, as in the global monopole case. However, we find the curious fact that the BBF depends on the topology of the spacetime through the modification of the azimuthal angle and therefore of the solid angle. For the static cosmic string we find that the force is null for the zero thickness case.

Contrary to standard coupled cluster doubles (CCD) and Brueckner doubles (BD), singlet-paired analogues of CCD and BD (denoted here as CCD0 and BD0) do not break down when static correlation is present, but neglect substantial amounts of dynamic correlation. In fact, CCD0 and BD0 do not account for any contributions from multielectron excitations involving only same-spin electrons at all. We exploit this feature to add---without introducing double counting, self-interaction, or increase in cost---the missing correlation to these methods via meta-GGA density functionals (TPSS and SCAN). Furthermore, we improve upon these CCD0+DFT blends by invoking range separation: the short- and long-range correlations absent in CCD0/BD0 are evaluated with DFT and the direct random phase approximation (dRPA), respectively. This corrects the description of long-range van der Waals forces. Comprehensive benchmarking shows that the combinations presented here are very accurate for weakly correlated systems, while also providing a reasonable description of strongly correlated problems without resorting to symmetry breaking.

The Geometrical Localization mechanism in Randall-sundrum (RS) scenarios is extended by considering the coupling between a quadratic mass term and geometrical tensors. Since the quadratic term is symmetric, tensors with two symmetric indices have to be taken into account. These are the Ricci and the Einstein tensors. For the Ricci tensor it is shown that a localized zero mode exists while that is not possible for the Einstein tensor. It is already known that the Ricci scalar generates a localized solution but the metrics do not. Therefore, it can be conclude that divergenceless tensors do not localize the zero mode of gauge fields. The result is valid for any warp factor recovering the RS metrics at the boundaries, and therefore is valid for RS I and II models. We also compute resonances for all couplings. These are calculated using the transfer matrix method. The cases studied consider the standard RS with delta-like branes, and branes generated by kinks and domain-wall as well. The parameters are changed to control the thickness of the smooth brane. We find that, for all cases considered, geometrical coupling does not generate resonances. This enforces similar results for the coupling with the Ricci scalar and points to the existence of some unidentified fundamental structure of these couplings.

In this manuscript we explicitly compute the effective dimension of spacetime in some backgrounds of Hořava-Lifshitz (H-L) gravity. For all the cases considered, the results are compatible with a dimensional reduction of the spacetime to $d+1=2$, at high energies (ultraviolet limit), which is confirmed by other quantum gravity approaches, as well as to $d+1=4$, at low energies (infrared limit). This is obtained by computing the free energy of massless scalar and gauge fields. We find that the only effect of the background is to change the proportionality constant between the internal energy and temperature. Firstly, we consider both the non-perturbative and perturbative models involving the matter action, without gravitational sources but with manifest time and space symmetry breaking, in order to calculate modifications in the Stephan-Boltzmann law. When gravity is taken into account, we assume a scenario in which there is a spherical source with mass $M$ and radius $R$ in thermal equilibrium with radiation, and consider the static and spherically symmetric solution of the H-L theory found by Kehagias-Sfetsos (K-S), in the weak and strong field approximations. As byproducts, for the weak field regime, we used the current uncertainty of the solar radiance measurements to establish a constraint on the $ω$ free parameter of the K-S solution. We also calculate the corrections, due to gravity, to the recently predicted attractive force that black bodies exert on nearby neutral atoms and molecules.

In this paper we propose a new way of obtaining four dimensional gauge invariant $U(n)$ gauge field from a bulk action. The results are valid for both Randall-Sundrum scenarios and are obtained without the introduction of other fields or new degrees of freedom. The model is based only in non-minimal couplings with the gravity field. We show that two non-minimal couplings are necessary, one with the field strength and the other with a mass term. Despite the loosing of five dimensional gauge invariance by the mass term a massless gauge field is obtained over the brane. To obtain this, we need of a fine tuning of the two parameters introduced through the couplings. The fine tuning is obtained by imposing the boundary conditions and to guarantee non-abelian gauge invariance in four dimensions. With this we are left with no free parameters and the model is completely determined. The model also provides analytical solutions to the linearized equations for the zero mode and for a general warp factor.

In a recent paper the present authors reopened this problem since the solution presented before did not satisfy the boundary condition at the origin. The first solution is given by the introduction of a mass term and by coupling the spinor with the brane through a delta function. The second solution is reached by a Yukawa geometrical coupling with the Ricci scalar. This two models changes consistently the the boundary condition at infinity and at the origin. For the case of Geometrical coupling we are able to show that the zero mode is localized for any smooth version of the RS model.

We start proven that the equations of motion can be obtained without splitting the field in even and odd parts. The massive and tachyonic cases are studied revealing that this mechanism only traps the zero mode. The result is then generalized to thick branes. In this scenario, the use of a delta like interaction of the quadratic term is necessary leading to a "mixed" potential with singular and smooth contributions. It is also shown that all forms produces an effective theory in the brane without gauge fixing. The existence of resonances with the transfer matrix method is then discussed. With this we analyze the resonances and look for peaks indicating the existence of unstable modes. Curiously no resonances are found in opposition of other models in the literature. Finally we find analytical solutions for arbitrary $p-$forms when a specific kind of smooth scenario is considered.

A new mechanism, valid for any smooth version of the Randall-Sundrum model, of getting localized massless vector field on the brane is described here. This is obtained by dimensional reduction of a five dimension massive two form, or Kalb-Ramond field, giving a Kalb-Ramond and an emergent vector field in four dimensions. A geometrical coupling with the Ricci scalar is proposed and the coupling constant is fixed such that the components of the fields are localized. The solution is obtained by decomposing the fields in transversal and longitudinal parts and showing that this give decoupled equations of motion for the transverse vector and KR fields in four dimensions. We also prove some identities satisfied by the transverse components of the fields. With this is possible to fix the coupling constant in a way that a localized zero mode for both components on the brane is obtained. Then, all the above results are generalized to the massive $p-$form field. It is also shown that in general an effective $p$ and $(p-1)-$forms can not be localized on the brane and we have to sort one of them to localize. Therefore, we can not have a vector and a scalar field localized by dimensional reduction of the five dimensional vector field. In fact we find the expression $p=(d-1)/2$ which determines what forms will give rise to both fields localized. For $D=5$, as expected, this is valid only for the KR field.

In this paper we consider a geometrical Yukawa coupling as a solution to the problem of gauge field localization. We show that upon dimensional reduction the vector field component of the field is localized but the scalar component ($A_5$) is not. We show this for any smooth version of the Randall-Sundrum model. The covariant version of the model with geometrical coupling simplify the generalization to smooth versions generated by topological defects. This kind of model has been considered some time ago, but there it has been introduced two free parameters in order to get a localized solution which satisfy the boundary conditions: a mass term in five dimensions and a coupling with the brane. The boundary condition fix one of them and the model is left with one free parameter $M$. First we show that by considering a Yukawa coupling with the Ricci scalar it is possible to unify these two parameter in just one fixed by the boundary condition. With this we get a consistent model with no free parameters and the mass term can be interpreted as a coupling to the cosmological constant.

New analytical solutions for gravity, scalar and vector field localization in Randall-Sundrum(RS) models are found. A smooth version of the warp factor with an associated function $f(z)=\exp(3A(z)/2)$ inside the walls ($|z|<d$) is defined, leading to an associated equation and physical constraints on the continuity and smoothness of the background resulting in a new space of analytical solutions. We solve this associated equation analytically for the parabolic and Pöschl-Teller potentials and analyze the spectrum of resonances for these fields. By using the boundary conditions we are able to show that, for any of these solutions, the density probability for finding a massive mode in the membrane has a universal behavior for small values of mass given by $|ψ_m(0)|^2=β_1m+β_3m^3+β_L m^3\log(m)+\cdots$. As a consequence, the form of the leading order correction, for example, to the Newton's law is general and does not depend on the potential used. At the end we also discuss why complications arises when we try to use the method to find analytical solutions to the fermion case.

The Friedmann-Robertson-Walker metric with spherical topology is calculated as an effective metric at the brane in a multiple branes in $D-$dimensional spacetime scenario. In this model the radius of the brane is the cosmological scale factor, and its evolution is calculated from the viewpoint of the observers on their respective branes. The cosmology of the brane-universe is analyzed in cases where the anisotropic pressure has a cosmological constant like state equation. The pressure values needed to distinguish the oscillating, expanding or collapsing solutions are found, and the minimum value of a brane-universe mass to prevent a collapse into a black hole is also calculated. Finally the equation of motion is solved numerically in order to illustrate the different cosmological scenarios and to validate the analytical results.

A chain-like or a 1D crystal-like universe made of intersecting membranes in extra dimensions in a Randall-Sundrum scenario is studied. A background gravitational metric satisfying the right boundary conditions is considered to study the localization of the scalar, gauge and Kalb-Ramond field. It is found that the wave function for the fields are Bloch waves. The mass modes equations are calculated allowing us to show the zero-gap mass behavior and the mass dispersion relation for each field. Finally we generalize all these results and consider $q-$forms in the crystal membrane universe. We show that, depending to the dimension $D$, the form $q$ and the dilation coupling $λ$ the mass spectrum can be the same for the different bosonic field studied.

We obtain the exact solution for the quantum Kalb-Ramond field in the de Sitter background and discuss its relation with the Cremmer-Scherk-Kalb-Ramond model.

We show that a direct connection can be drawn, based on fundamental quantum principles, between the Morse potential, extensively used as an empirical description for the atomic interaction in diatomic molecules, and the harmonic potential. This is conceptually achieved here through a non-additive translation operator, whose action leads to a perfect equivalence between the quantum harmonic oscillator in deformed space and the quantum Morse oscillator in regular space. In this way, our theoretical approach provides a distinctive first principle rationale for anharmonicity, therefore revealing a possible quantum origin for several related properties as, for example, the dissociation energy of diatomic molecules and the deformation of cubic metals.

As the electromagnetism loses its conformality in $D\neq4$, we point that there will be particle production and comoving objects will feel a Bunch-Davies thermal bath. This may become important in extra dimension physics and raises the intriguing possibility that precise measurements of the Cosmic Microwave Background could verify the existence of extra dimensions.

It is based on similar works to understand the quantum mechanics of electrons subject to the potential barriers that exist in heterostructures in semiconductors. This method was used recently to study resonances of a three form field and lately generalized to arbitrary forms. We apply it to a lot of important models, namely those that contain the Gauge, Gravity and Spinor fields. In many cases we find a rich structure of resonances which depends on the parameters involved.

The general solution of Einstein's gravity equation in $D$ dimensions for an anisotropic and spherically symmetric matter distribution is calculated in a bulk with position dependent cosmological constant. Results for $n$ concentric $(D-2)-$branes with arbitrary mass, radius and pressure with different cosmological constant between branes are found. It is shown how the difference between the cosmological constant contributes to the effective mass of each brane, and it is also shown that the equation of state for each brane influences the dynamics of branes, which can be divided into eras according to the dominant matter. This scenario can be used to model the universe in the D=5 case, which may presents a richer phenomenology than the current models. The evolution law of the branes is studied, and the anisotropic pressure that remove divergences is found. The Randall-Sundrum metric in an outside region in the flat branes limit is also derived.

This result have been obtained previously for amplitudes involving only closed or open amplitudes and here we extend it to include Type I amplitudes. For this we first prove the cyclic symmetry of Type I superstring in a way that it is also valid for the Pure Spinor formalism. The technique used is applied to simplify the calculation of the tree level three point amplitude previously computed. As a byproduct, we are able to calculate the gauge anomaly amplitude of type I Superstrings in this formalism.

By a generalization we mean that our expression is valid for any form in an arbitrary dimension with codimension one. We also point out that, even without the dilaton coupling, some form fields are localized in the membrane. The massive modes are considered and the resonances are calculated using a numerical method. We find that different spaces have identical resonance structures, which we call dual spaces of resonances(DSR).

Abstract:
In this work we consider the issue of localization of antisymmetric tensor fields of arbitrary rank in a D dimensional Space-time with a codimension two. A string-like defect is used to simulate the membrane. The localization of massless and massive fields is found. The mass spectrum is infinitely degenerate for each mass level and this is solved by coupling the $q-$form to fermions.

In this article we study the issue of localization of the three-form field in a Randall-Sundrum-like scenario. We simulate our membrane by kinks embedded in D=5, describing the usual case (not deformed) and new models coming from a specific deformation procedure. The gravitational background regarded includes the dilaton contribution. We show that we can only localize the zero-mode of this field for a specific range of the dilaton coupling, even in the deformed case. A study about resonances is presented. We use a numerical approach for calculations of the transmission coefficients associated to the quantum mechanical problem. This gives a clear description of the physics involved in the model. We find in this way that the appearance of resonances is strongly dependent on the coupling constant. We study the cases $p=1,3$ and 5 for $α=-1.75$ and $α=-20$. The first value of $α$ give us one resonance peak for $p=1$ and no resonances for $p=3,5$. The second value of $α$ give us a very rich structure of resonances, with number deppending on the value of $p$.
