We discuss the general behavior of the scattering amplitude with channel couplings near the two-body threshold. It is known that the Flatté amplitude, which is often used in the analysis of experimental data involving exotic hadrons, has some constraint in the near-threshold energy region. While the M-matrix gives the general expression of the scattering amplitude, it is not smoothly connected to the Flatté amplitude, due to the property of the determinant of the amplitude in channel space. In this paper, based on the effective field theory, we propose new parametrization of the scattering amplitude which gives the general expression near the threshold and has a well-defined limit reproducing the Flatté amplitude. We show that the nonresonant background contribution exists in the general amplitude even in the first order in the momentum. Finally, we quantitatively evaluate the cross sections by changing the strength of the background contribution. We find that the interference with the background term may induce a dip structure of the cross section near the threshold, in addition to the peak and threshold cusp structures.

The near-threshold clustering phenomenon is well understood by the low-energy universality, for shallow bound states below the threshold. Nevertheless, the characteristics of resonances slightly above the threshold still lack thorough elucidation. We introduce a novel probabilistic interpretation scheme for complex compositeness of resonances, in which resonances with unphysically large decay widths are inherently excluded. Employing this scheme to analyze resonances via the effective range expansion, we demonstrate that near-threshold resonances have small composite fraction, in sharp contrast to shallow bound states below the threshold.

We examine the $Λ$-${}^4\mathrm{He}$ ($α$) momentum correlation in high-energy collisions to elucidate the interaction between Lambdas ($Λ$) and nucleons ($N$). We compare phenomenological $Λα$ potentials with different strengths at short range. In addition to the conventional Gaussian-type potentials, we construct the $Λα$ potentials by substituting the nucleon density distribution in $α$ into the Skyrme-type $Λ$ potentials. We find that the dependence on the employed potential models is visible in the correlation functions from a small-size source. This indicates that the $Λα$ momentum correlation could constrain the property of the $ΛN$ interaction at high densities, which is expected to play an essential role in dense nuclear matter. Also, we verify that the Lednicky-Lyuboshits formula can yield erroneous results for a small-size source with a potential which has a large interaction range, like the $Λα$ system.

The rapid growth of the e-commerce market creates new dynamics in the logistics landscape, which has been evolving for decades in cities around the world. It is a challenge for businesses and planners to meet the high demand for logistics facilities for e-commerce order fulfillment and goods handling. In the Tokyo Metropolitan Area, mega-scale multi-tenant logistics facilities have been developed in both the port area near the urban center and the periphery of the city, while delivery service providers locate many last-mile delivery stations, varying in number depending on the urban density. We analyze the spatial distribution and location factors of both mega-scale multi-tenant facilities and last-mile delivery facilities. We found that, due to the scarcity of land, newly developed multi-tenant facilities are more likely to be in less accessible places that have high-level development restrictions. The result also indicates the heterogeneity of the distribution of delivery service providers' facilities, reflecting the heterogeneity in business strategies.

When laser radiation is skilfully applied, atoms and molecules can be cooled allowing precise measurements and control of quantum systems. This is essential in fundamental studies of physics as well as practical applications such as precision spectroscopy, quantum-statistical-property manifesting ultracold gases, and quantum computing. In laser cooling, repeated cycles of laser photon absorption and direction-independent spontaneous emission can slow atoms and molecules to otherwise unattainable velocities. Simple systems can provide a rigorous testing ground for fundamental theories of physics; one such system is the purely leptonic positronium, an exotic atom of an electron and its antiparticle, the positron. However, the cooling of positronium has hitherto remained unrealised. Here, we demonstrate laser cooling of positronium. A novel laser system of a train of broadband pulses with successively increasing central frequencies was used to overcome major challenges presented by the short lifetime of positronium and the significant Doppler broadening and recoil as a consequence of its very light mass. One-dimensional chirp cooling of the dilute positronium gas in a counter-propagating configuration gave a final velocity distribution corresponding to approximately 1 K in a short time of 100 ns. This study on a pure leptonic system is a major step in the field of low-temperature fundamental physics of antimatter, and is complementary to the laser cooling of antihydrogen, a hadron-containing exotic atom. Progress in this field is vital in elucidating the origin of the matter-antimatter asymmetry in the universe. The application of laser cooling to positronium may afford a unique opportunity to rigorously test bound-state quantum electrodynamics. Moreover, laser cooling of positronium is key to the realisation of Bose-Einstein condensation in this matter-antimatter system.

We study the $Ξ(1620)$ resonance near the $\bar{K}Λ$ threshold in the light of the recent experimental constraints. The Belle collaboration have found a resonance peak of $Ξ(1620)$ slightly below the $\bar{K}^{0}Λ$ threshold in the $π^{+}Ξ^{-}$ invariant mass spectrum, and the ALICE collaboration have determined the $K^{-}Λ$ scattering length from the measurement of the momentum correlation functions in the heavy ion collisions. Using the effective range expansion, we classify the nature of the pole of the near-threshold eigenstate in terms of the scattering length, in the presence of the decay channel. It is shown that the quasibound state below the threshold can be described by only the scattering length, while the description of the resonance above the threshold requires the contribution from the effective range. Based on the chiral unitary approach, we construct a theoretical model which generates the pole of $Ξ(1620)$ below the $\bar{K}Λ$ threshold with relatively narrow width, as reported by the Belle collaboration. It is quantitatively demonstrated that the spectrum of the $Ξ(1620)$ quasibound state is distorted by the effect of the nearby $\bar{K}Λ$ threshold. We then construct another model which reproduces the $K^{-}Λ$ scattering length by the ALICE collaboration. In this case, the eigenstate pole does not appear in the physically relevant Riemann sheets, and the spectrum shows a cusp structure at the $\bar{K}Λ$ threshold. We finally examine the compatibility of the value of the $\bar{K}Λ$ scattering length and the subthreshold pole of $Ξ(1620)$ including the experimental uncertainties.

We study the properties of the hadron-hadron potentials and quark-antiquark potentials from the viewpoint of the channel coupling. We demonstrate that, for finite quark masses, the coupling to the two-hadron continuum induces the imaginary part of the quark-antiquark potential, in contrast to the string-breaking phenomena in the static limit. It is also shown that the elimination of the different degrees of freedom induces the nonlocality and energy dependence of the effective potentials. For the obtained nonlocal potentials, we apply two methods of the local approximation proposed previously, the formal derivative expansion and the derivative expansion in the HAL QCD method, by carefully examining the energy dependence of the potential. As an application, we construct a coupled-channel model of $c\bar{c}$ and $D^{0}\bar{D}^{*0}$ to describe $X(3872)$, and discuss the property of the effective $D^{0}\bar{D}^{*0}$ potentials. We confirm that the local approximation by the HAL QCD method works better than the formal derivative expansion also for the energy-dependent potential. At the same time, we show that, in the HAL QCD method, the resulting phase shift is sensitive to the choice of the wavefunction to construct the local potential when the system has a shallow bound state such as $X(3872)$.

The compositeness of weakly bound states is discussed using the effective field theory from the viewpoint of the low-energy universality. We introduce a model with coupling of the single-channel scattering to the bare state, and study the compositeness of the bound state by varying the bare state energy. In contrast to the naive expectation that the near-threshold states are dominated by the molecular structure, we demonstrate that a non-composite state can always be realized even with a small binding energy. At the same time, however, it is shown that a fine tuning is necessary to obtain the non-composite weakly bound state. In other words, the probability of finding a model with the composite dominant state becomes larger with the decrease of the binding energy in accordance with the low-energy universality. For the application to exotic hadrons, we then discuss the modification of the compositeness due to the decay and coupled-channels effects. We quantitatively show that these contributions suppress the compositeness, because of the increase of the fraction of other components. Finally, as examples of near-threshold exotic hadrons, the structures of $T_{cc}$ and $X(3872)$ are studied by evaluating the compositeness. We find the importance of the coupled-channels and decay contributions for the structures of $T_{cc}$ and $X(3872)$, respectively.

The quark-antiquark potentials are known to be confining in the absence of the $\bar{q}q$ pair creation. On the other hand, the inter-hadron potentials vanish at large distance, because the interaction range is limited by the inverse pion mass. When the $\bar{q}q$ pair creation and annihilation are switched on, the channel coupling occurs between the quark and hadron degrees of freedom, modifying the behavior of potentials. In this work, we investigate the properties of the effective potentials obtained by eliminating one of the channels. We show that the coupling to the eliminated channel induces a non-local and energy dependent effective potential, irrespective of the properties of the transition potential. In addition, when the hadron channel having continuous scattering eigenstates is eliminated, the resulting inter-quark potential contains an imaginary part above the threshold to describe the decay effect into the meson pair.

The compositeness $X$ is defined as the probability to observe the composite structure such as the hadronic molecule component in a bound state. One of the model-independent approaches to calculate $X$ is the weak-binding relation. However, when the scattering length $a_{0}$ is larger than the radius of the bound state $R$, the central value of the compositeness $X$ becomes larger than unity, which cannot be interpreted as a probability. For the systems with $a_{0}>R$, we need to estimate the compositeness with the correction terms. For the reasonable determination of the compositeness, we first present the quantitative estimation of the correction terms. Because the exact value of the compositeness should be contained in its definition domain $0\leq X\leq 1$, we propose the reasonable estimation method with the uncertainty band by excluding the region outside of the definition domain of the compositeness. We finally estimate the compositeness of physical systems, and obtain the result which we can interpret as the fraction of the composite component.

The first is the ambiguous initial impression given by the calculation of the magnetic field using the integral form of Ampere-Maxwell's Law which incorporates the displacement current density. The second is misinterpretation of this law as a cause-effect formula. The third is insufficient recognition of the fact that the electric field in Maxwell's equations represents the sum of the well-distinguished irrotational and divergence-free fields, which are independently responsible for conservation of charge and the existence of the electromagnetic waves, respectively.

The composite nature of a shallow bound state is studied by using the weak-binding relation, which connects the compositeness of the bound state with observables. We first show that the previous weak-binding relation cannot be applied to the system with a large effective range. To overcome this difficulty, we introduce the finite-range correction by redefining the typical length scale in the weak-binding relation. A method to estimate the uncertainty of the compositeness is proposed. It is numerically demonstrated that the range correction enlarges the applicable region of the weak-binding relation. Finally, we apply the improved weak-binding relation to the actual hadrons, nuclei, and atomic systems [deuteron, $X(3872)$, $D^{*}_{s0}(2317)$, $D_{s1}(2460)$, $NΩ$ dibaryon, $ΩΩ$ dibaryon, ${}^{3}_Λ{\rm H}$, and ${}^{4}{\rm He}$ dimer] to discuss their internal structure from the compositeness. We present a reasonable estimation of the compositeness of the deuteron by properly taking into account the uncertainty. The results of $X(3872)$ and the $NΩ$ dibaryon show that the range correction is important to estimate the compositeness of physical states.

In particular, the interaction in the isospin $I=0$ channel is sufficiently attractive to generate a quasi-bound state, the $Λ(1405)$ resonance, below the $\bar{K}N$ threshold. Based on this picture, it may be expected that the $\bar{K}N$ interaction also generates quasi-bound states in kaon-nuclear systems, sometimes called kaonic nuclei. At the same time, the $\bar{K}N$ quasi-bound picture of the $Λ(1405)$ is also related to the discussion of hadronic molecules in hadron spectroscopy. The weak-binding relation is a useful tool to study the internal structure of hadrons from the observable quantities. We introduce the range correction in the weak-binding relation for the system having a sizable magnitude of the effective range, and show that the applicability of the weak-binding relation can be enlarged by the range correction. Thanks to the low-energy universality, the weak-binding relation can be used to study the structure of shallow bound states in any systems with different length scales. We apply the weak-binding relation to actual systems, including hadrons, hypernuclei, and atoms and show the importance of the range correction.

We study the range correction in the weak-binding relation, which relates the internal structure of hadrons with the scattering length and the binding energy. Utilizing the effective field theories, we show that the effective range originates from the derivative coupling interaction as well as from the channel coupling to the bare state, and that the different contributions are not distinguishable. By examining the compositeness in the effective field theories, it is demonstrated that the effective range induces the finite range correction for the weak-binding relation in addition to the previously known contributions. We thus propose to include the range correction in the uncertainty terms of the weak-binding relation.

The momentum correlation functions of S = -2 baryon pairs (p Xi^- and Lambda Lambda) produced in high-energy pp and pA collisions are investigated on the basis of the coupled-channel formalism. The strong interaction is described by the coupled-channel HAL QCD potential obtained by the lattice QCD simulations near physical quark masses, while the hadronic source function is taken to be a static Gaussian form. The coupled-channel effect, the threshold difference, the realistic strong interaction, and the Coulomb interaction are fully taken into account for the first time in the femtoscopic analysis of baryon-baryon correlations. The characteristic features of the experimental data for the p Xi^- and Lambda Lambda pairs at LHC are reproduced quantitatively with a suitable choice of non-femtoscopic parameters and the source size. The agreement between theory and experiment indicates that the N Xi (Lambda Lambda) interaction is moderately (weakly) attractive without having a quasi-bound (bound) state.

The present article proposes a data analysis method for experimentally-derived measurements, which consists of an auto-optimization procedure and a sensitivity analysis. The method was applied to the results of a total-reflection high-energy positron diffraction (TRHEPD) experiment, a novel technique of determining surface structures or the position of the atoms near the material surface. This method solves numerically the partial differential equation in the fully-dynamical quantum diffraction theory with many trial surface structures. In the sensitivity analysis, we focused on the experimental uncertainties and the variation over individual fitting parameters, which was analyzed by solving the eigenvalue problem of the variance-covariance matrix. A modern massively parallel supercomputer was used to complete the analysis within a moderate computational time. The sensitivity analysis provides a basis for the choice of variables in the data analysis for practical reliability. The effectiveness of the present analysis method was demonstrated in the structure determination of a Si$_4$O$_5$N$_3$ / 6H-SiC(0001)-($\sqrt{3} \times \sqrt{3}$) R30$^\circ$ surface. Furthermore, this analysis method is applicable to many experiments other than TRHEPD.

The strange quark plays a unique role in QCD, reflecting its intermediate mass between the light and heavy quarks. In recent years, remarkable progress has been made in the spectroscopy of baryons with strangeness. Many new features of the strange baryon spectrum have been revealed by accurate experimental data with novel techniques, as well as systematic developments of theoretical framework to describe hadron resonances. The basic properties of strange baryons, namely, the pole positions, spin and parity, and decay branching ratios, are being determined accurately. As a consequence, the Particle Data Group have added new entries in the particle listings, such as the $Λ(1380)$ and the $Ω(2012)$. The developments of the spectroscopy stimulate intensive discussion on the exotic internal structure of strange baryons beyond the ordinary three-quark configuration. In this review, we introduce the basics of QCD, the scattering theory, and the exotic internal structure of hadrons, emphasizing the importance of the pole positions of the scattering amplitude for the characterization of hadron resonances. We then summarize the current status of selected strange baryon resonances; $Λ(1405)$, $Λ(1670)$, $Ξ(1620)$, $Ξ(1690)$, and $Ω(2012)$, from theoretical and experimental viewpoints.

The effects of all coupled channels together with the Coulomb potential and the threshold energy difference between K^-p and Kbar0 n are treated completely for the first time. Realistic potentials based on the chiral SU(3) dynamics are used which fit the available scattering data. The recently measured correlation function is found to be well reproduced by allowing variations of the source size and the relative weight of the source function of piSigma with respect to that of KbarN. The predicted K^-p correlation function from larger systems, which is less affected by the piSigma source function, indicates that the investigation of its source size dependence is useful in providing further constraints in the study of the KbarN interaction.

We study the strangeness $S=-2$ baryon-baryon interactions in relativistic chiral effective field theory at leading order. Among the 15 relevant low energy constants, eight of them are determined by fitting to the state of the art lattice QCD data of the HAL QCD Collaboration (with $m_π=146$ MeV), and the rest are either taken from the study of the $S=-1$ hyperon-nucleon systems, assuming strict SU(3) flavor symmetry, or temporarily set equal to zero. Using the so-obtained low energy constants, we extrapolate the results to the physical point, and show that they are consistent with the available experimental scattering data. Furthermore, we demonstrate that the $ΛΛ$ and $ΞN$ phase shifts near the $ΞN$ threshold are very sensitive to the lattice QCD data fitted, to the pion mass, and to isospin symmetry breaking effects. As a result, any conclusion drawn from lattice QCD data at unphysical pion masses (even close to the physical point) should be taken with caution. Our results at the physical point, similar to the lattice QCD data, show that a resonance/quasi-bound state may appear in the $I=0$ $ΛΛ$/$ΞN$ channel.

Based on a baryon-baryon interaction model with meson exchanges, we investigate the origin of the strong attraction in the $N Ω( {}^{5}S_{2} )$ interaction, which was indicated by recent lattice QCD simulations. The long range part of the potential is constructed by the conventional mechanisms, the exchanges of the $η$ meson and of the correlated two mesons in the scalar-isoscalar channel, denoted by "$σ$" in the literature. The short range part is represented by the contact interaction. We find that the meson exchanges do not provide sufficient attraction. This means that most of the attraction is attributed to the short range contact interaction. We then evaluate the effect of the coupled channels to the $N Ω( {}^{5}S_{2} )$ interaction. We find that, while the $D$-wave mixing of the $N Ω$ channel is negligible, the inelastic $ΛΞ$, $ΣΞ$, and $ΛΞ(1530)$ channels via the $K$ meson exchange give the attraction of the $N Ω( {}^{5}S_{2} )$ interaction to the same level with the elastic meson exchanges. Although the elimination of these channels induces the energy dependence of the single-channel $N Ω$ interaction, this effect is not significant. With the present model parameters fitted to reproduce the scattering length of the HAL QCD result of the nearly physical quark masses, we obtain the $N Ω( {}^{5}S_{2} )$ quasibound state with its eigenenergy $2611.3 - 0.7 i$ MeV, which corresponds to the binding energy $0.1$ MeV and width $1.5$ MeV for the decay to the $ΛΞ$ and $ΣΞ$ channels. From the analysis of the spatial structure and the compositeness, the quasibound state is shown to be the molecular state of $NΩ$. We also construct an equivalent local potential for the $N Ω( {}^{5}S_{2} )$ system which is useful for various applications.

A Kbar N-pi Sigma-pi Lambda coupled-channel potential is constructed on the basis of chiral SU(3) dynamics. Several matching conditions are introduced to formulate an equivalent local potential that reproduces the coupled-channel scattering amplitudes resulting from chiral SU(3)_L times SU(3)_R meson-baryon effective field theory. In contrast to a previously constructed effective single-channel Kbar N potential, the explicit treatment of the pi Sigma channel yields a natural description of the low-mass pole as part of the two-pole structure of the Lambda(1405) resonance. The energy dependence of the potential can now be parametrized with a minimum of polynomial orders. To study the properties of the Lambda(1405) as a quantum-mechanical quasibound state, we derive the normalization condition of its wave function generated by the energy-dependent coupled-channel potential, using the Feshbach projection method. This framework provides an improved understanding of this system from the viewpoint of the compositeness of hadrons. With the properly normalized wave function, we demonstrate and confirm that the high-mass pole of the Lambda(1405) is dominated by the Kbar N component.

We study the mechanism of the weak decay process of Xi_b^0 into D^0 with a meson-baryon pair. It is shown that the dominant component of the prompt weak decay produces the meson-baryon pair with the spectator strange quark being transferred to the baryon, so that the Kbar N channel is absent. Subsequent final state interaction then reflects the pi Sigma originated Lambda(1405) formation amplitude, which has been difficult to access in previous experimental studies. We predict the line shapes of the pi Sigma invariant mass distribution using a realistic chiral meson-baryon amplitude for the final state interaction. It is shown that the interference between the direct and the rescattering contributions can strongly distort the peak structure of the Lambda(1405) in the mass distribution. This indicates the necessity of a detailed investigation of the reaction mechanism in order to extract the Lambda(1405) property in the pi Sigma mass distribution.

We discuss the relation between the analytic structure of the scattering amplitude and the origin of an eigenstate represented by a pole of the amplitude. If the eigenstate is not dynamically generated by the interaction in the channel of interest, the residue of the pole vanishes in the zero coupling limit. Based on the topological nature of the phase of the scattering amplitude, we show that the pole must encounter with the Castillejo-Dalitz-Dyson (CDD) zero in this limit. It is concluded that the dynamical component of the eigenstate is small if a CDD zero exists near the eigenstate pole. We show that the line shape of the resonance is distorted from the Breit-Wigner form as an observable consequence of the nearby CDD zero. We evaluate the production cross section in the electron-positron collisions using the nonrelativistic QCD framework, and investigate the difference of the production cross section for different color configurations in two charm quarks (antitriplet and sextet), where the mixing of different configurations is suppressed in the heavy quark limit. The total cross section is estimated by modeling the nonperturbative fragmentation process of the charm quark pair into the tetraquark by the wavefunction of the tetraquark and the probability of picking up the light quarks. We find that the internal color configurations are distinguishable by the qualitative features of the differential cross sections which are independent of the nonperturbative matrix elements.

The meson-neutron scattering length can become infinitely large in an unphysical region of the quark mass when extrapolated from strangeness to charm in the so-called zero coupling limit. Abstract:
The $D_{s0}^*(2317) D$ and $D_{s1}^*(2460) D^*$ heavy meson systems can exchange a kaon that is emitted in S-wave owing to the opposite intrinsic parity of the $D_{s0}^*$($D_{s1}^*$) and $D$($D^*$) mesons. As a consequence of the mass difference of the $D_{s0}^*$($D_{s1}^*$) and $D$($D^*$) mesons, the range of the kaon exchange potential will be significantly longer than expected, corresponding to…

As a consequence of the mass difference of the $D_{s0}^*$($D_{s1}^*$) and $D$($D^*$) mesons, the range of the kaon exchange potential will be significantly longer than expected, corresponding to an effective mass of about $200\,{\rm MeV}$. The potential will be very strong: the strength of the interaction is proportional to $(m_{D_{s0}} - m_D)^2 / f_π^2$ and $(m_{D_{s1}} - m_{D^*})^2 / f_π^2$. This combination of range and strength almost guarantees the existence of $D_{s0}^*(2317) D$ and $D_{s1}^*(2460) D^*$ bound states with $J^P = 0^{-}$ and $J^P = 0^{-}, 2^{-}$ respectively. Concrete calculations indicate a binding energy of $5-15\,{\rm MeV}$ independently of $J^P$. The $D_{s0}^*(2317) D$ and $D_{s1}^*(2460) D^*$ molecules have manifestly exotic flavour quantum numbers: $C=2$, $S=1$ and $I=1/2$. We expect the existence of bottom counterparts composed of the $B B_{s0}$ and $B^* B_{s1}^*$ mesons, which will be more bound and have a richer spectrum that might include a shallow P-wave state and an excited S-wave state.

Motivated by the precise measurement of the $1S$ level shift of kaonic hydrogen, we perform accurate three-body calculations for the spectrum of kaonic deuterium using a realistic antikaon-nucleon ($KN$) interaction. In order to describe both short- and long-range behavior of the kaonic atomic states, we solve the three-body Schrödinger equation with a superposition of a large number of correlated Gaussian basis functions covering distances up to several hundreds of fm. Transition energies between $1S$, $2P$ and $2S$ states are determined with high precision. The complex energy shift of the $1S$ level of kaonic deuterium is found to be $670-i508$ eV. The sensitivity of this level shift with respect to the isospin $I=1$ component of the $KN$ interaction is examined. It is pointed out that an experimental determination of the kaonic deuterium level shift within an uncertainty of 25\% will provide a constraint for the $I=1$ component of the $KN$ interaction significantly stronger than that from kaonic hydrogen.

Recently, the compositeness, defined as the norm of a two-body wave function for bound and resonance states, has been investigated to discuss the internal structure of hadrons in terms of hadronic molecular components. From the studies of the compositeness, it has been clarified that the two-body wave function of a bound state can be extracted from the residue of the scattering amplitude at the bound state pole. Of special interest is that the two-body wave function from the scattering amplitude is automatically normalized. In particular, while the compositeness is unity for energy-independent interactions, it deviates from unity for energy-dependent interactions, which can be interpreted as a missing-channel contribution. In this manuscript, we show the formulation of the two-body wave function from the scattering amplitude, evaluate the compositeness for several dynamically generated resonances such as $f_{0} (980)$, $Λ(1405)$, and $Ξ(1690)$, and investigate their internal structure in terms of the hadronic molecular components.

We develop a theoretical framework to quantify the structure of unstable hadron resonances. With the help of the corresponding system in a finite volume, we define the compositeness of resonance states which can be interpreted as a probability. This framework is used to study the structure of the scalar mesons f_0(980) and a_0(980). In both mesons, the Kbar K component dominates about a half of the wave function. The method is also applied to the Lambda(1405) resonance. We argue that a single energy level in finite volume represents the two eigenstates in infinite volume. The KbarK N component of Lambda(1405), including contributions from both eigenstates, is found to be 58%, and the rest is composed of the pi Sigma and other channels.

Heavy ion collisions (HIC) at high energies are excellent ways for producing heavy hadrons and composite particles. With upgraded detectors at RHIC and LHC, it has become possible to measure hadrons beyond their ground states. Therefore, HIC provide a new method for studying exotic hadrons that are either hadronic molecular states or compact multiquark systems. Because their structures are related to the fundamental properties of QCD, studying exotic hadrons is currently one of the most active areas of research in hadron physics. Experiments carried out at various accelerator facilities have indicated that some exotic hadrons may have already been produced. The present review is a summary of the current understanding of a selected set of exotic particle candidates that can be potentially measured in HIC. It also includes discussions on the production of exotic hadrons in HIC based on the coalescence and statistical models. A more detailed discussion leads to the conclusion that the yield of a hadron is typically an order of magnitude smaller when it is a compact multiquark state than that of an excited hadronic state with normal quark numbers and/or a molecular configuration. Attention is also given to some of the proposed heavy exotic hadrons that could be produced with sufficient abundance in HIC because of the significant numbers of charm and bottom quarks produced at RHIC and LHC, making it possible to study them in these experiments. Further included in the discussion are the general formalism for the coalescence model that involves resonance particles and its implication on the present estimated yield for resonance production. Finally, a review is given on recent studies to constrain the hadron-hadron interaction through correlation measurements in HIC and their implications on the interpretation and the possible existence of exotic states in hadronic interactions.

The internal structure of exotic hadron candidates are studied from the viewpoint of the compositeness of near-threshold states. We focus on the Weinberg's weak-binding relation between the experimental observables and the compositeness of the state. First we extend the relation for quasibound states within the framework of the effective field theory. Next, considering the correction term, we develop a systematic method to estimate the uncertainty of compositeness in the weak-binding relation. Finally, applying the extended relation and the error evaluation method, we conclude that the structure of Lambda(1405) is dominated by the Kbar N component.

Employing a realistic $\bar{K}N$ potential based on the chiral SU(3) effective field theory with the SIDDHARTA constraint, we show that the central nucleon densities of these systems increases when the antikaon is injected, by about factor of two at maximum. The $\bar{K}NNNN$ system shows the largest central density, about 0.74 fm$^{-3}$ even with the phenomenological $\bar{K}N$ potential, which are not as high as those suggested in previous studies with approximate treatments of the few-body systems. We find the spin of the ground state of the $\bar{K}NNNNNN$ system depends on the strength of the $\bar{K}N$ attraction. Thus, the quantum number of the ground state can be another constraint on the $\bar{K}N$ interaction.
