Using the~$B^+\rightarrow χ_{c1}(3872)K^+$decay, the $χ_{c1}(3872)\rightarrow ψ(2S)γ$ process is observed for the first time and the ratio of its partial width to that of the $χ_{c1}(3872)\rightarrow J/ψγ$ decay is measured to be $$ \frac{Γ_{χ_{c1}(3872)\rightarrow ψ(2S)γ}}
{Γ_{χ_{c1}(3872)\rightarrow J/ψγ}} = 1.67 \pm 0.21 \pm 0.12 \pm0.04 , $$ where the first uncertainty is statistical, the second systematic and the third is due to the uncertainties on the branching fractions of the $ψ(2S)$ and $J/ψ$ mesons. The measured ratio makes the interpretation of the $χ_{c1}(3872)$ state as a~pure $D^0\bar{D}^{*0}+\bar{D}^0D^{*0}$ molecule questionable and strongly indicates a sizeable compact charmonium or tetraquark component within the $χ_{c1}(3872)$ state.

The gait generator, which is capable of producing rhythmic signals for coordinating multiple joints, is an essential component in the quadruped robot locomotion control framework. The biological counterpart of the gait generator is the Central Pattern Generator (abbreviated as CPG), a small neural network consisting of interacting neurons. Inspired by this architecture, researchers have designed artificial neural networks composed of simulated neurons or oscillator equations. Despite the widespread application of these designed CPGs in various robot locomotion controls, some issues remain unaddressed, including: (1) Simplistic network designs often overlook the symmetry between signal and network structure, resulting in fewer gait patterns than those found in nature. (2) Due to minimal architectural consideration, quadruped control CPGs typically consist of only four neurons, which restricts the network's direct control to leg phases rather than joint coordination. (3) Gait changes are achieved by varying the neuron couplings or the assignment between neurons and legs, rather than through external stimulation. We apply symmetry theory to design an eight-neuron network, composed of Stein neuronal models, capable of achieving five gaits and coordinated control of the hip-knee joints. We validate the signal stability of this network as a gait generator through numerical simulations, which reveal various results and patterns encountered during gait transitions using neuronal stimulation. Based on these findings, we have developed several successful gait transition strategies through neuronal stimulations. Using a commercial quadruped robot model, we demonstrate the usability and feasibility of this network by implementing motion control and gait transitions.

The value ${r_τ^{\rm Run\,2}=1.076\pm0.013\pm0.006}$ is obtained, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second systematic. This value is averaged with the corresponding value from Run 1 to obtain ${r_τ^{\rm Run\,1,2} = 1.078\pm0.012\pm0.007}$. Multiplying by the world-average value of the $Λ^0_b$ lifetime yields $τ_{Ξ^-_b}^{\rm Run~1,2} = 1.578\pm0.018\pm0.010\pm0.011$ ps, where the uncertainties are statistical, systematic, and due to the limited knowledge of the $Λ^0_b$ lifetime. This measurement improves the precision of the current world average of the $Ξ^-_b$ lifetime by about a factor of two, and is in good agreement with the most recent theoretical predictions.

We consider the problem of user-adaptive 3D gaze estimation. The performance of person-independent gaze estimation is limited due to interpersonal anatomical differences. Our goal is to provide a personalized gaze estimation model specifically adapted to a target user. Previous work on user-adaptive gaze estimation requires some labeled images of the target person data to fine-tune the model at test time. However, this can be unrealistic in real-world applications, since it is cumbersome for an end-user to provide labeled images. In addition, previous work requires the training data to have both gaze labels and person IDs. This data requirement makes it infeasible to use some of the available data. To tackle these challenges, this paper proposes a new problem called efficient label-free user adaptation in gaze estimation. Our model only needs a few unlabeled images of a target user for the model adaptation. During offline training, we have some labeled source data without person IDs and some unlabeled person-specific data. Our proposed method uses a meta-learning approach to learn how to adapt to a new user with only a few unlabeled images. Our key technical innovation is to use a generalization bound from domain adaptation to define the loss function in meta-learning, so that our method can effectively make use of both the labeled source data and the unlabeled person-specific data during training. Extensive experiments validate the effectiveness of our method on several challenging benchmarks.

A study of resonant structures in $B^{+}\rightarrow{D^{\ast+}D^{-}K^{+}}$ and $B^{+}\rightarrow{D^{\ast-}D^{+}K^{+}}$ decays is performed, using proton-proton collision data at centre-of-mass energies of $\sqrt{s}=7, 8$, and $13$ TeV recorded by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb$^{-1}$. A simultaneous amplitude fit is performed to the two channels with contributions from resonances decaying to $D^{\ast-}D^{+}$ and $D^{\ast+}D^{-}$ states linked by $C$ parity. This procedure allows the $C$-parities of resonances in the $D^{\ast\pm}D^{\mp}$ mass spectra to be determined. Four charmonium(-like) states are observed decaying into $D^{\ast\pm}D^{\mp}$: $η_c(3945)$, $h_c(4000)$, $χ_{c1}(4010)$ and $h_c(4300)$, with quantum numbers $J^{PC}$ equal to $0^{-+}$, $1^{+-}$, $1^{++}$ and $1^{+-}$, respectively. At least three of these states have not been observed previously. In addition, the existence of the $T_{\bar{c}\bar{s}0}^{*}(2870)^{0}$ and $T_{\bar{c}\bar{s}1}^{*}(2900)^{0}$ resonances in the $D^-K^+$ mass spectrum, already observed in the $B^+ \to D^+ D^- K^+$ decay, is confirmed in a different production channel.

A search for radiative decay of $B^0_s$ mesons to orbitally excited $K^+K^-$ states is performed using proton proton collisions recorded by the \mbox{LHCb}\xspace experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9~fb$^{-1}$. The dikaon spectrum in the mass range $m_{KK}<2400$~{\ensuremath{\,\text{Me\kern -0.1em V\!/}c^2}\xspace} is dominated by the $φ(1020)$ resonance that accounts for almost 70$\%$ of the decay rate. Considering the possible contributions of $f_2{(1270)}$, $f'_2{(1525)}$ and $f_2{(2010)}$ meson states, the overall tensor contribution to the amplitude is measured to be \begin{equation}
{\cal F}_{\{f_2\}}=16.8\pm 0.5\mathrm{~(stat.)}\pm0.7\mathrm{~(syst.)}\%,\nonumber \end{equation}
mostly dominated by the $f'_2(1525)$ state. Several statistically equivalent solutions are obtained for the detailed resonant structure depending on whether the smaller amplitudes interfere destructively or constructively with the dominant amplitude. The preferred solution that corresponds to the lowest values of the fit fractions along with constructive interference leads to the relative branching ratio measurement \begin{equation}
\frac{{\cal B}(B^0_s\to f'_2γ)}{{\cal B}(B^0_s\toφγ)}= 19.4^{+0.9}_{-0.8}\mathrm{~(stat.)}{}^{+1.4}_{-0.5}\mathrm{~(syst.)}\pm0.5\mathrm{~(\cal{B})}\%\nonumber, \end{equation} where the last uncertainty is due to the ratio of measured branching fractions to the $K^+K^-$ final state. This result represents the first observation of the radiative $B^0_s\to f'_2(1525)γ$ decay, which is the second radiative transition observed in the $B^0_s$ sector.

Large Language Models (LLMs) have made great strides in recent years to achieve unprecedented performance across different tasks. However, due to commercial interest, the most competitive models like GPT, Gemini, and Claude have been gated behind proprietary interfaces without disclosing the training details. Recently, many institutions have open-sourced several strong LLMs like LLaMA-3, comparable to existing closed-source LLMs. However, only the model's weights are provided with most details (e.g., intermediate checkpoints, pre-training corpus, and training code, etc.) being undisclosed. To improve the transparency of LLMs, the research community has formed to open-source truly open LLMs (e.g., Pythia, Amber, OLMo), where more details (e.g., pre-training corpus and training code) are being provided. These models have greatly advanced the scientific study of these large models including their strengths, weaknesses, biases and risks. However, we observe that the existing truly open LLMs on reasoning, knowledge, and coding tasks are still inferior to existing state-of-the-art LLMs with similar model sizes. To this end, we open-source MAP-Neo, a highly capable and transparent bilingual language model with 7B parameters trained from scratch on 4.5T high-quality tokens. Our MAP-Neo is the first fully open-sourced bilingual LLM with comparable performance compared to existing state-of-the-art LLMs. Moreover, we open-source all details to reproduce our MAP-Neo, where the cleaned pre-training corpus, data cleaning pipeline, checkpoints, and well-optimized training/evaluation framework are provided. Finally, we hope our MAP-Neo will enhance and strengthen the open research community and inspire more innovations and creativities to facilitate the further improvements of LLMs.

While existing depression prediction methods based on deep learning show promise, their practical application is hindered by the lack of trustworthiness, as these deep models are often deployed as \textit{black box} models, leaving us uncertain about the confidence of the model predictions. For high-risk clinical applications like depression prediction, uncertainty quantification is essential in decision-making. In this paper, we introduce conformal depression prediction (CDP), a depression prediction method with uncertainty quantification based on conformal prediction (CP), giving valid confidence intervals with theoretical coverage guarantees for the model predictions. CDP is a plug-and-play module that requires neither model retraining nor an assumption about the depression data distribution. As CDP provides only an average coverage guarantee across all inputs rather than per-input performance guarantee, we further propose CDP-ACC, an improved conformal prediction with approximate conditional coverage. CDP-ACC firstly estimates the prediction distribution through neighborhood relaxation, and then introduces a conformal score function by constructing nested sequences, so as to provide a tighter prediction interval for each specific input. We empirically demonstrate the application of CDP in uncertainty-aware depression prediction, as well as the effectiveness and superiority of CDP-ACC on the AVEC 2013 and AVEC 2014 datasets.

A comprehensive study of the local and nonlocal amplitudes contributing to the decay $B^0\rightarrow K^{*0}(\to K^+π^-) μ^+μ^-$ is performed by analysing the phase-space distribution of the decay products. The analysis is based on \proton\proton collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 8.4fb$^{-1}$ collected by the LHCb experiment. This measurement employs for the first time a model of both one-particle and two-particle nonlocal amplitudes, and utilises the complete dimuon mass spectrum without any veto regions around the narrow charmonium resonances. In this way it is possible to explicitly isolate the local and nonlocal contributions and capture the interference between them. The results show that interference with nonlocal contributions, although larger than predicted, only has a minor impact on the Wilson Coefficients determined from the fit to the data. For the local contributions, the Wilson Coefficient $C_9$, responsible for vector dimuon currents, exhibits a $2.1σ$ deviation from the Standard Model expectation. The Wilson Coefficients $C_{10}$, $C_{9}'$ and $C_{10}'$ are all in better agreement than $C_{9}$ with the Standard Model and the global significance is at the level of $1.5σ$. The model used also accounts for nonlocal contributions from $B^{0}\to K^{*0}\left[τ^+τ^-\to μ^+μ^-\right]$ rescattering, resulting in the first direct measurement of the $b sττ$ vector effective-coupling $C_{9τ}$.

The products of the relative branching fractions and fragmentation fractions for each signal mode, relative to the $B^- \to Λ_c^+ \overline{p} π^-$ mode, are measured, with $Ξ_{b}^- \toΛ_{c}^+ K^- π^-$, $Ξ_{b}^- \toΛ_{c}^+ K^- K^-$ and $Ω_{b}^- \toΛ_{c}^+ K^- K^-$ decays being observed at over $5\,σ$ significance. The $Ξ_{b}^- \toΛ_{c}^+ K^- π^-$ mode is also used to measure the $Ξ_{b}^-$ production asymmetry, which is found to be consistent with zero. In addition, the $B^- \to Λ_{c}^+ \overline{p} K^-$ decay is observed for the first time, and its branching fraction is measured relative to that of the $B^- \to Λ_{c}^+ \overline{p} π^-$ mode.

In driving scenarios, automobile active safety systems are increasingly incorporating deep learning technology. These systems typically need to handle multiple tasks simultaneously, such as detecting fatigue driving and recognizing the driver's identity. However, the traditional parallel-style approach of combining multiple single-task models tends to waste resources when dealing with similar tasks. Therefore, we propose a novel tree-style multi-task modeling approach for multi-task learning, which rooted at a shared backbone, more dedicated separate module branches are appended as the model pipeline goes deeper. Following the tree-style approach, we propose a multi-task learning model for simultaneously performing driver fatigue detection and face recognition for identifying a driver. This model shares a common feature extraction backbone module, with further separated feature extraction and classification module branches. The dedicated branches exploit and combine spatial and channel attention mechanisms to generate space-channel fused-attention enhanced features, leading to improved detection performance. As only single-task datasets are available, we introduce techniques including alternating updation and gradient accumulation for training our multi-task model using only the single-task datasets. The effectiveness of our tree-style multi-task learning model is verified through extensive validations.

In recent years, deep learning based on Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) has achieved remarkable success in many applications. However, their heavy reliance on extensive labeled data and limited generalization ability to unseen classes pose challenges to their suitability for medical image processing tasks. Few-shot learning, which utilizes a small amount of labeled data to generalize to unseen classes, has emerged as a critical research area, attracting substantial attention. Currently, most studies employ a prototype-based approach, in which prototypical networks are used to construct prototypes from the support set, guiding the processing of the query set to obtain the final results. While effective, this approach heavily relies on the support set while neglecting the query set, resulting in notable disparities within the model classes. To mitigate this drawback, we propose a novel Support-Query Prototype Fusion Network (SQPFNet). SQPFNet initially generates several support prototypes for the foreground areas of the support images, thus producing a coarse segmentation mask. Subsequently, a query prototype is constructed based on the coarse segmentation mask, additionally exploiting pattern information in the query set. Thus, SQPFNet constructs high-quality support-query fused prototypes, upon which the query image is segmented to obtain the final refined query mask. Evaluation results on two public datasets, SABS and CMR, show that SQPFNet achieves state-of-the-art performance.

The ratio of branching fractions of the $B^{+}\to D^{*-}D^{+}_{s}π^{+}$ and $B^{0}\to D^{*-}D^{+}_{s}$ decays is measured to be $0.173\pm 0.006\pm 0.010$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. An amplitude analysis of the $B^{+}\to D^{*-}D^{+}_{s}π^{+}$ decay is performed for the first time, revealing dominant contributions from known excited charm resonances decaying to the $D^{*-}π^{+}$ final state. No significant evidence of exotic contributions in the $D^{+}_{s}π^{+}$ or $D^{*-}D^{+}_{s}$ channels is found. The signing key protection for Certificate Authorities (CAs) remains a critical concern in PKI. These keys can be exposed by carefully designed attacks or operational errors even today. Traditional protections fail to eliminate such risk since attackers always manage to find an exploit path to capture the digital key leakage. Even a single successful attack can compromise the security. This everlasting dilemma motivates us to consider removing CA's signing keys and propose Armored Core, a PKI security extension using the trusted binding of Physically Unclonable Function (PUF) for certificate operations. By eliminating explicit signing keys, it makes key exposure attacks impossible.
In Armored Core, we design a set of PUF-based X.509v3 TLS certificate functions for CAs, where they generate physically trusted "signatures" without using a fixed key. We formally prove the existential unforgeability of the certificates. We propose the first PUF transparency mechanism to effectively monitor the calling behaviors of PUF. We also provide an open-sourced implementation where Armored Core is integrated into real-world PKI systems like Let's Encrypt Pebble CA and Certbot. The results show that it achieves key removal without any additional performance overhead. It offers a more trusted basis for PKI security through efficient physical operations with compatible functions.

Two-dimensional hybrid organic-inorganic metal halide perovskites offer enhanced stability for perovskite-based applications. Their crystal structure's soft and ionic nature gives rise to strong interactions between charge carriers and ionic rearrangements. Here, we investigate the interaction of photo-generated electrons and ionic polarizations in single-crystal 2D perovskite butylammonium lead iodide, varying the inorganic lammelae thickness in the 2D single crystals. We determined the directionality of the transition dipole moments of the relevant phonon modes (in the 0.3-3 THz range) by angle-and-polarization dependent THz transmission measurements. We find a clear anisotropy of the in-plane photoconductivity, with a 10% reduction along the axis parallel with the transition dipole moment of the most strongly coupled phonon. Detailed calculations, based on Feynman polaron theory, indicate that the anisotropy originates from directional electron-phonon interactions.

Laser powder bed fusion (LPBF) is a widely used metal additive manufacturing technology. However, the accumulation of internal residual stress during printing can cause significant distortion and potential failure. Although various scan patterns have been studied to reduce possible accumulated stress, such as zigzag scanning vectors with changing directions or a chessboard-based scan pattern with divided small islands, most conventional scan patterns cannot significantly reduce residual stress. The proposed adaptive toolpath generation (ATG) algorithms, aiming to minimize the thermal gradients, may result in extremely accumulated temperature fields in some cases. To address these issues, we developed a deep reinforcement learning (DRL)-based toolpath generation framework, with the goal of achieving uniformly distributed heat and avoiding extremely thermal accumulation regions during the LPBF process. We first developed an overall pipeline for the DRL-based toolpath generation framework, which includes uniformly sampling, agent moving and environment observation, action selection, moving constraints, rewards calculation, and the training process. To accelerate the training process, we simplified the data-intensive numerical model by considering the turning angles on the toolpath. We designed the action spaces with three options, including the minimum temperature value, the smoothest path, and the second smoothest path. The reward function was designed to minimize energy density to ensure the temperature field remains relatively stable. To verify the effectiveness of the proposed DRL-based toolpath generation framework, we performed numerical simulations of polygon shape printing domains. In addition, four groups of thin plate samples with different scan patterns were compared using the LPBF process.

By requiring the $e^{+}e^{-}$ invariant mass to be consistent with a $φ(1020)$, $0.98<M(e^{+}e^{-})<1.04$ ~GeV/$c^2$, the decay $D_s^+\toπ^+φ,φ\to e^{+}e^{-}$ is observed with a statistical significance of 7.8$σ$, and evidence for the decay $D_s^+\toρ^+φ,φ\to e^{+}e^{-}$ is found for the first time with a statistical significance of 4.4$σ$. The decay branching fractions are measured to be $\mathcal{B}(D_s^+\toπ^+φ, φ\to e^{+}e^{-} )=(1.17^{+0.23}_{-0.21}\pm0.03)\times 10^{-5}$, and $\mathcal{B}(D_s^+\toρ^+φ, φ\to e^{+}e^{-} )=(2.44^{+0.67}_{-0.62}\pm 0.16)\times 10^{-5}$, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second systematic. No significant signal for the three four-body decays of $D_{s}^{+}\to π^{+}π^{0}e^{+}e^{-},\ D_{s}^{+}\to K^{+}π^{0}e^{+}e^{-}$, and $D_{s}^{+}\to K_{S}^{0}π^{+}e^{+}e^{-}$ is observed. For $D_{s}^{+}\to π^{+}π^{0}e^{+}e^{-}$, the $φ$ mass region is vetoed to minimize the long-distance effects. The 90$\%$ confidence level upper limits set on the branching fractions of these decays are in the range of $(7.0-8.1)\times 10^{-5}$.

With a dominant hadronic contribution from $K_1(1270)$, the branching fractions are measured to be $\mathcal{B}(D^0\rightarrow {K}_1(1270)^-(\to K^0_Sπ^-π^0)e^+ν_e)=(1.69^{+0.53}_{-0.46}\pm0.15)\times10^{-4}$ and $\mathcal{B}(D^+\to \bar{K}_1(1270)^0(\to K^0_Sπ^+π^-)e^+ν_e)=(1.47^{+0.45}_{-0.40}\pm0.20)\times10^{-4}$ with statistical significance of 5.4$σ$ and 5.6$σ$, respectively. When combined with measurements of the $K_1(1270)\to K^+π^-π$ decays, the absolute branching fractions are determined to be $\mathcal{B}(D^0\to K_1(1270)^-e^+ν_e)=(1.05^{+0.33}_{-0.28}\pm0.12\pm0.12)\times10^{-3}$ and $\mathcal{B}(D^+\to \bar{K}_1(1270)^0e^+ν_e)=(1.29^{+0.40}_{-0.35}\pm0.18\pm0.15)\times10^{-3}$. The first and second uncertainties are statistical and systematic, respectively, and the third uncertainties originate from the assumed branching fractions of the $K_1(1270)\to Kππ$ decays.

Deep neural networks often exhibit sub-optimal performance under covariate and category shifts. Source-Free Domain Adaptation (SFDA) presents a promising solution to this dilemma, yet most SFDA approaches are restricted to closed-set scenarios. In this paper, we explore Source-Free Universal Domain Adaptation (SF-UniDA) aiming to accurately classify "known" data belonging to common categories and segregate them from target-private "unknown" data. We propose a novel Global and Local Clustering (GLC) technique, which comprises an adaptive one-vs-all global clustering algorithm to discern between target classes, complemented by a local k-NN clustering strategy to mitigate negative transfer. Despite the effectiveness, the inherent closed-set source architecture leads to uniform treatment of "unknown" data, impeding the identification of distinct "unknown" categories. To address this, we evolve GLC to GLC++, integrating a contrastive affinity learning strategy. We examine the superiority of GLC and GLC++ across multiple benchmarks and category shift scenarios. Remarkably, in the most challenging open-partial-set scenarios, GLC and GLC++ surpass GATE by 16.7% and 18.6% in H-score on VisDA, respectively. GLC++ enhances the novel category clustering accuracy of GLC by 4.3% in open-set scenarios on Office-Home. Furthermore, the introduced contrastive learning strategy not only enhances GLC but also significantly facilitates existing methodologies.

In this context an important practical challenge is the efficient incorporation of constraints. We develop a continuous-time method for solving constrained variational inequalities based on a new penalty regulated dynamical system in a general potentially infinite-dimensional Hilbert space. In order to obtain strong convergence of the issued trajectory of our method, we incorporate an explicit Tikhonov regularization parameter in our method, leading to a class of time-varying monotone inclusion problems featuring multiscale aspects. Besides strong convergence, we illustrate the practical efficiency of our developed method in solving constrained min-max problems.

A method is presented to reconstruct charged particles with lifetimes between 10 ps and 10 ns, which considers a combination of their decay products and the partial tracks created by the initial charged particle. Using the $Ξ^-$ baryon as a benchmark, the method is demonstrated with simulated events and proton-proton collision data at $\sqrt{s}=13$ TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.0 fb${}^{-1}$ collected with the LHCb detector in 2018. Significant improvements in the angular resolution and the signal purity are obtained. The method is implemented as part of the LHCb Run 3 event trigger in a set of requirements to select detached hyperons. This is the first demonstration of the applicability of this approach at the LHC, and the first to show its scaling with instantaneous luminosity.

Deep learning has achieved remarkable progress in various applications, heightening the importance of safeguarding the intellectual property (IP) of well-trained models. It entails not only authorizing usage but also ensuring the deployment of models in authorized data domains, i.e., making models exclusive to certain target domains. Previous methods necessitate concurrent access to source training data and target unauthorized data when performing IP protection, making them risky and inefficient for decentralized private data. In this paper, we target a practical setting where only a well-trained source model is available and investigate how we can realize IP protection. To achieve this, we propose a novel MAsk Pruning (MAP) framework. MAP stems from an intuitive hypothesis, i.e., there are target-related parameters in a well-trained model, locating and pruning them is the key to IP protection. Technically, MAP freezes the source model and learns a target-specific binary mask to prevent unauthorized data usage while minimizing performance degradation on authorized data. Moreover, we introduce a new metric aimed at achieving a better balance between source and target performance degradation. To verify the effectiveness and versatility, we have evaluated MAP in a variety of scenarios, including vanilla source-available, practical source-free, and challenging data-free. Extensive experiments indicate that MAP yields new state-of-the-art performance.

Using the $B^0 \to D^+ D^- K_{\mathrm{S}}^0$ decay as a reference channel, the product of the relative production cross-section and decay branching fractions is measured to be $$ {\cal R}=\frac{σ_{Λ^0_b}}{σ_{B^0}} \times \frac{{\cal B}(Λ^0_b \to D^+ D^- Λ)}{{\cal B}(B^0 \to D^+ D^- K_{\mathrm{S}}^0)}=0.179 \pm 0.022 \pm 0.014 $$ where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The known branching fraction of the reference channel, ${\cal B}(B^0 \to D^+ D^- K_{\mathrm{S}}^0)$, and the cross-section ratio, $σ_{Λ^0_b} / σ_{B^0}$, previously measured by $\mathrm{LHCb}$ are used to derive the branching fraction of the $Λ^0_b \to D^+ D^- Λ$ decay $$ {\cal B}(Λ^0_b \to D^+ D^- Λ)=(1.24 \pm 0.15 \pm 0.10 \pm 0.28 \pm 0.11) \times 10^{-4}, $$ where the third and fourth contributions are due to uncertainties of ${\cal B}(B^0 \to D^+ D^- K_{\mathrm{S}}^0)$ and $σ_{Λ^0_b} / σ_{B^0}$, respectively. Inspection of the $D^+ Λ$ and $D^+ D^-$ invariant-mass distributions suggests a rich presence of intermediate resonances in the decay. The $Λ^0_b \to D^{*+} D^- Λ$ decay is also observed for the first time as a partially reconstructed component in the $D^+ D^- Λ$ invariant mass spectrum.

Universal Domain Adaptation (UniDA) targets knowledge transfer in the presence of both covariate and label shifts. Recently, Source-free Universal Domain Adaptation (SF-UniDA) has emerged to achieve UniDA without access to source data, which tends to be more practical due to data protection policies. The main challenge lies in determining whether covariate-shifted samples belong to target-private unknown categories. Existing methods tackle this either through hand-crafted thresholding or by developing time-consuming iterative clustering strategies. In this paper, we propose a new idea of LEArning Decomposition (LEAD), which decouples features into source-known and -unknown components to identify target-private data. Technically, LEAD initially leverages the orthogonal decomposition analysis for feature decomposition. Then, LEAD builds instance-level decision boundaries to adaptively identify target-private data. Extensive experiments across various UniDA scenarios have demonstrated the effectiveness and superiority of LEAD. Notably, in the OPDA scenario on VisDA dataset, LEAD outperforms GLC by 3.5% overall H-score and reduces 75% time to derive pseudo-labeling decision boundaries. Besides, LEAD is also appealing in that it is complementary to most existing methods. The code is available at https://github.com/ispc-lab/LEAD.

Event cameras can record scene dynamics with high temporal resolution, providing rich scene details for monocular depth estimation (MDE) even at low-level illumination. Therefore, existing complementary learning approaches for MDE fuse intensity information from images and scene details from event data for better scene understanding. However, most methods directly fuse two modalities at pixel level, ignoring that the attractive complementarity mainly impacts high-level patterns that only occupy a few pixels. For example, event data is likely to complement contours of scene objects. In this paper, we discretize the scene into a set of high-level patterns to explore the complementarity and propose a Pattern-based Complementary learning architecture for monocular Depth estimation (PCDepth). Concretely, PCDepth comprises two primary components: a complementary visual representation learning module for discretizing the scene into high-level patterns and integrating complementary patterns across modalities and a refined depth estimator aimed at scene reconstruction and depth prediction while maintaining an efficiency-accuracy balance. Through pattern-based complementary learning, PCDepth fully exploits two modalities and achieves more accurate predictions than existing methods, especially in challenging nighttime scenarios. Extensive experiments on MVSEC and DSEC datasets verify the effectiveness and superiority of our PCDepth. Remarkably, compared with state-of-the-art, PCDepth achieves a 37.9% improvement in accuracy in MVSEC nighttime scenarios.

The wave equation governing the wave propagation in chiral phononic crystals, established through force equilibrium law, conceals the underlying physical information. This has led to a controversy over the bandgap mechanism. In this letter, we theoretically unveil the reason of this controversy, and put forward an alternative approach from wave behavior to formulate the wave equation, offering a new pathway to articulate the bandgap physics directly. We identify the obstacles in coupled acoustic and optic branches to widen and lower the bandgap, and introduce an approach based on spherical hinges to decrease the barriers, for customizing the bandgap frequency and width. Finally, we validate our proposal through numerical simulation and experimental demonstration.

Norm violations occur when individuals fail to conform to culturally accepted behaviors, which may lead to potential conflicts. Remediating norm violations requires social awareness and cultural sensitivity of the nuances at play. To equip interactive AI systems with a remediation ability, we offer ReNoVi - a large-scale corpus of 9,258 multi-turn dialogues annotated with social norms, as well as define a sequence of tasks to help understand and remediate norm violations step by step. ReNoVi consists of two parts: 512 human-authored dialogues (real data), and 8,746 synthetic conversations generated by ChatGPT through prompt learning. While collecting sufficient human-authored data is costly, synthetic conversations provide suitable amounts of data to help mitigate the scarcity of training data, as well as the chance to assess the alignment between LLMs and humans in the awareness of social norms. We thus harness the power of ChatGPT to generate synthetic training data for our task. To ensure the quality of both human-authored and synthetic data, we follow a quality control protocol during data collection. Our experimental results demonstrate the importance of remediating norm violations in socio-cultural conversations, as well as the improvement in performance obtained from synthetic data.

Remote Attestation (RA) enables the integrity and authenticity of applications in Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) to be verified. Existing TEE RA designs employ a centralized trust model where they rely on a single provisioned secret key and a centralized verifier to establish trust for remote parties. This model is however brittle and can be untrusted under advanced attacks nowadays. Besides, most designs only provide fixed functionalities once deployed, making them hard to adapt to different needs on availability, Quality of Service (QoS), etc.
Therefore, we propose JANUS, an open and resilient TEE RA scheme. To decentralize trust, we, on one hand, introduce Physically Unclonable Function (PUF) as an intrinsic root of trust (RoT) in TEE to provide additional measurements and cryptographic enhancements. On the other hand, we use blockchain and smart contract to realize decentralized verification and result audit. Furthermore, we design an automated turnout mechanism that allows JANUS to remain resilient and offer flexible RA services under various situations. We provide a UC-based security proof and demonstrate the scalability and generality of JANUS by implementing an open-sourced prototype.

The ratio of branching fractions between $B^{0} \rightarrow J/ψπ^{0}$ and $B^{+} \rightarrow J/ψK^{*+}$ decays is measured with proton-proton collision data collected by the LHCb experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 9 fb$^{-1}$. The measured value is $\frac{\mathcal{B}_{B^{0} \rightarrow J/ψπ^{0}}}{\mathcal{B}_{B^{+} \rightarrow J/ψK^{*+}}} = (1.153 \pm 0.053 \pm 0.048 ) \times 10^{-2}$, where the first uncertainty is statistical and the second is systematic. The branching fraction for $B^{0} \rightarrow J/ψπ^{0}$ decays is determined using the branching fraction of the normalisation channel, resulting in $\mathcal{B}_{B^{0} \rightarrow J/ψπ^{0}} = (1.670 \pm 0.077 \pm 0.069 \pm 0.095) \times 10^{-5}$, where the last uncertainty corresponds to that of the external input. This result is consistent with the current world average value and competitive with the most precise single measurement to date.

The $π^+π^0$ mass spectrum is found to be consistent with the dominance of an intermediate $ρ^+$ contribution in accordance with a model based on QCD factorisation.

By performing a simultaneous fit to the dressed cross sections for both processes, one possible new structure around 3.9 GeV/$c^2$ is observed for the first time, in addition to seven known resonances $ψ(3770)$, $ψ(4040)$, $ψ(4160)$, $Y(4230)$, $Y(4360)$, $ψ(4415)$, and $Y(4660)$. These results offer crucial experimental insights into the nature of hadron production in the open charm region.

The branching fractions are measured to be $\mathcal{B}(η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-e^+e^-)=(2.45\pm0.02(\rm{stat.})\pm0.08(\rm{syst.})) \times10^{-3}$ and $\mathcal{B}(η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-μ^+μ^-)=(2.16\pm0.12(\rm{stat.})\pm0.06(\rm{syst.}))\times10^{-5}$, and the ratio is $\frac{\mathcal{B}(η'\rightarrowπ^{+}π^{-}e^{+}e^{-})}{\mathcal{B}(η'\rightarrowπ^{+}π^{-}μ^{+}μ^{-})} = 113.4\pm0.9(\rm{stat.})\pm3.7(\rm{syst.})$. In addition, by combining the $η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-e^+e^-$ and $η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-μ^+μ^-$ decays, the slope parameter of the electromagnetic transition form factor is measured to be $b_{η'}=1.30\pm0.19\ (\mathrm{GeV}/c^{2})^{-2}$, which is consistent with previous measurements from BESIII and theoretical predictions from the VMD model. The asymmetry in the angle between the $π^+π^-$ and $l^+l^-$ decay planes, which has the potential to reveal the $CP$-violation originating from an unconventional electric dipole transition, is also investigated. The asymmetry parameters are determined to be $\mathcal{A}_{CP}(η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-e^+e^-)=(-0.21\pm0.73(\rm{stat.})\pm0.01(\rm{syst.}))\%$ and $\mathcal{A}_{CP}(η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-μ^+μ^-)=(0.62\pm4.71(\rm{stat.})\pm0.08(\rm{syst.}))\%$, implying that no evidence of $CP$-violation is observed at the present statistics. Finally, an axion-like particle is searched for via the decay $η'\rightarrowπ^+π^-a, a\rightarrow e^+e^-$, and upper limits of the branching fractions are presented for the mass assumptions of the axion-like particle in the range of $0-500\ \mathrm{MeV}/c^{2}$.

The $B^0$ observables are used to constrain the parameter space of the CKM angle $γ$ and the hadronic parameters $r_{B^0}^{DK^*}$ and $δ_{B^0}^{DK^*}$ with inputs from other measurements. In a combined analysis, these measurements allow for four solutions in the parameter space, only one of which is consistent with the world average.

We present measurements of the Born cross sections for the processes $e^+e^-\rightarrowωχ_{c1}$ and $ωχ_{c2}$ at center-of-mass energies $\sqrt{s}$ from 4.308 to 4.951 GeV. The measurements are performed with data samples corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 11.0 $\rm{fb}^{-1}$ collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. Assuming the $e^+e^-\rightarrowωχ_{c2}$ signals come from a single resonance, the mass and width are determined to be $M=(4413.6\pm9.0\pm0.8)$ MeV/$c^2$ and $Γ=(110.5\pm15.0\pm2.9)$ MeV, respectively, which is consistent with the parameters of the well-established resonance $ψ(4415)$. In addition, we also use one single resonance to describe the $e^+e^-\rightarrowωχ_{c1}$ lineshape, and determine the mass and width to be $M=(4544.2\pm18.7\pm1.7)$ MeV/$c^2$ and $Γ=(116.1\pm33.5\pm1.7)$ MeV, respectively. The structure of this lineshape, observed for the first time, requires further understanding.
