Abstract:
We define a congruence that copes with null next-symbol probabilities that arise when the output of a language model is constrained by some means during text generation. We develop an algorithm for efficiently learning the quotient with respect to this congruence and evaluate it on case studies for analyzing statistical properties of LLM.

Indeed, the cell adhesion degree can be controlled by physical-chemical changes in the surface of substrates, such as wettability, surface charges and roughness. In this work, we describe the synthesis, characterization and cytocompatibility of photoresins useful for construction of cell scaffolds via two-photon polymerization. Additionally, we have demonstrated a simple surface treatment method that promotes cell adhesion. This method alters the surface charge of the polymer and enhances the adhesion of epithelial cells. Our results indicate an efficient approach for modifying the surface of biocompatible polymer scaffolds with the purpose of enhances the performance of cell functions suitable for tissue engineering and regenerative medicine.

The complex two-Higgs doublet model (C2HDM) is one of the simplest extensions of the Standard Model with a source of CP-violation in the scalar sector. It has a $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry, softly broken by a complex coefficient. There are four ways to implement this symmetry in the fermion sector, leading to models known as Type-I, Type-II, Lepton-Specific and Flipped. In the latter three models, there is a priori the surprising possibility that the 125 GeV Higgs boson couples mostly as a scalar to top quarks, while it couples mostly as a pseudoscalar to bottom quarks. This ``maximal'' scenario was still possible with the data available in 2017. Since then, there have been more data on the 125 GeV Higgs boson, direct searches for CP-violation in angular correlations of $τ$-leptons produced in Higgs boson decays, new results on the electron electric dipole moment, new constraints from LHC searches for additional Higgs bosons and new results on $b\to s γ$ transitions. Highlighting the crucial importance of the physics results of LHC's Run 2, we combine all these experiments and show that the ``maximal'' scenario is now excluded in all models. Still, one can have a pseudoscalar component in $h τ\barτ$ couplings in the Lepton-Specific case as large as $87\%$ of the scalar component for all mass orderings of the neutral scalar bosons.

Ferroelectric HfO2 films are usually polycrystalline and contain a mixture of polar and nonpolar phases. This challenges the understanding and control of polar phase stabilization and ferroelectric properties. Several factors such as dopants, oxygen vacancies, or stress, among others, have been investigated and shown to have a crucial role on optimizing the ferroelectric response. Stress generated during deposition or annealing of thin films is a main factor determining the formed crystal phases and influences the lattice strain of the polar orthorhombic phase. It is difficult to discriminate between stress and strain effects on polycrystalline ferroelectric HfO2 films, and the direct impact of orthorhombic lattice strain on ferroelectric polarization has yet to be determined experimentally. Here, we analyze the crystalline phases and lattice strain of several series of doped HfO2 epitaxial films. We conclude that stress has a critical influence on metastable orthorhombic phase stabilization and ferroelectric polarization. On the contrary, the lattice deformation effects are much smaller than those caused by variations in the orthorhombic phase content. The experimental results are confirmed by density functional theory calculations on HfO2 and Hf0.5Zr0.5O2 ferroelectric phases.

The flavor puzzle of the Standard Model quark sector is formulated in a non-perturbative way, using basis invariants that are independent of the choice of quark field basis. To achieve this, we first derive the algebraic ring of 10 CP even (primary) and 1 CP odd (secondary) basis invariants, using the Hilbert series and plethystic logarithm. An orthogonal basis in the ring of basis invariants is explicitly constructed, using hermitian projection operators derived via birdtrack diagrams. The thereby constructed invariants have well defined CP transformation behavior and give the most direct access to the flavor symmetric alignments of basis covariants. We firstly "measure" the orthogonal basis invariants from experimental data and characterize their location in the available parameter space. The experimentally observed orthogonal basis invariants take very close to maximal values and are highly correlated. Explaining the location of the invariants at close to maximal points, including the associated miniscule and highly correlated deviations, corresponds to solving the flavor puzzle in the invariant language. Once properly normalized, the orthogonal basis invariants are close to scale (RGE) invariant, hence, provide exquisite targets for fits of both, low- and high-scale (bottom-up and top-down) flavor models. Our result provides an entirely new angle on the flavor puzzle, and opens up ample opportunities for its ultimate exploration.

In models with a U(1) gauge extension beyond the Standard Model, one can derive sum rules for the couplings of the theory that are a consequence of tree-level unitarity. In this paper, we provide a comprehensive list of coupling sum rules for a general SU(2)$_L\times$U(1)$_Y \times$U(1)$_{Y'}$ gauge theory coupled to an arbitrary set of fermion and scalar multiplets. These results are of particular interest for models of dark matter that employ an extended gauge sector mediated by a new (dark) $Z^\prime$ gauge boson. For the case of a minimal extension of the Standard Model with a U(1)$_{Y'}$ gauge boson, we clarify the definitions of the weak mixing angle and the electroweak $ρ$ parameter. We demonstrate the utility of a generalized $ρ$ parameter (denoted by $ρ^\prime$) whose definition naturally follows from the unitarity sum rules developed in this paper.

There has been great interest in a model with three Higgs doublets in which fermions with a particular charge couple to a single and distinct Higgs field. We study the phenomenological differences between the two common incarnations of this so-called Type-Z 3HDM. We point out that the differences between the two models arise from the scalar potential only. Thus we focus on observables that involve the scalar self-couplings. We find it difficult to uncover features that can uniquely set apart the $Z_3$ variant of the model. However, by studying the dependence of the trilinear Higgs couplings on the nonstandard masses, we have been able to isolate some of the exclusive indicators for the $Z_2\times Z_2$ version of the Type-Z 3HDM. This highlights the importance of precision measurements of the trilinear Higgs couplings.

We review the status of $f(R,T)$ cosmological models, where $T$ is the trace of the energy momentum tensor $T^{μν}$. We start focusing on the modified Friedmann equations for the minimally coupled gravitational Lagrangian of the type $f(R,T)=R +αe^{βT} + γ_{n} T^{n}$. We show that in such a minimally coupled case there exists a useful constraining relation between the effective fractionary total matter density with an arbitrary equation of state parameter and the modified gravity parameters. With this association the modified gravity sector can be independently constrained using estimations of the gas mass fraction in galaxy clusters. Using cosmological background cosmic chronometers data and demanding the universe is old enough to accommodate the existence of Galactic globular clusters with ages of at least $\sim 14$ Gyrs we find a narrow range of the modified gravity free parameter space in which this class of theories remains viable for the late time cosmological evolution. This preferred parameter space region accommodates the $Λ$CDM limit of $f(R,T)$ models. We also work out the non-minimally coupled case in the metric-affine formalism and find that there are no viable cosmologies in the latter situation. However, when analysing the cosmological dynamics including a radiation component, we find that this energy density interacts with the matter field and it does not scale according to the typical behavior. We conclude stating that $f(R,T)$ gravity is not able to provide a full cosmological scenario and should be ruled out as a modified gravity alternative to the dark energy phenomena.

These constraints must be implemented on both the neutral (BFB-n) and charged (BFB-c) directions. The exact necessary and sufficient BFB conditions are unknown in the Z2xZ2 case. We develop a general strategy using lower bounds to find sufficient conditions for BFB-n and BFB-c and apply it to these symmetries. In addition, we investigate the concern that the use of safe sufficient conditions can ignore valid points which would yield distinct physical consequences. This is done by performing a full phenomenological simulation of the U(1)xU(1) and U(1)xZ2 models, where exact necessary and sufficient BFB conditions are possible. We look specifically at the points allowed by exact solutions but precluded by safe lower bounds. We found no evidence of remarkable new effects, partly reassuring the use of the lower bounds we propose here, for those potentials where no exact necessary and sufficient BFB conditions are known.

Nowadays, the confidentiality of data and information is of great importance for many companies and organizations. For this reason, they may prefer not to release exact data, but instead to grant researchers access to approximate data. For example, rather than providing the exact measurements of their clients, they may only provide researchers with grouped data, that is, the number of clients falling in each of a set of non-overlapping measurement intervals. The challenge is to estimate the mean and variance structure of the hidden ungrouped data based on the observed grouped data. To tackle this problem, this work considers the exact observed data likelihood and applies the Expectation-Maximization (EM) and Monte-Carlo EM (MCEM) algorithms for cases where the hidden data follow a univariate, bivariate, or multivariate normal distribution. Simulation studies are conducted to evaluate the performance of the proposed EM and MCEM algorithms. The well-known Galton data set is considered as an application example.

We discuss the $Z_2$ symmetric two Higgs doublet model with a real soft breaking term (real 2HDM). We explain in detail why it is not tenable to assume CP conservation in the scalar sector to keep the dimension two term real, while CP is violated by the dimension four Yukawa couplings. We propose the calculation of the infinite tadpole of the (would-be) pseudoscalar neutral scalar. We construct a simple toy model with the same flaws, where the unrenormalizable infinity is easier to calculate. We then turn our attention to the same tadpole in the real 2HDM. We spearhead this effort focusing on diagrams involving solely bare quantities. This involves hundreds of Feynman three-loop diagrams that could feed the CP violation from the quark into the scalar sector, and is only possible with state of the art automatic computation tools. Remarkably, some intermediate results agree when using three independent derivations, including the peculiar cancellation of the leading pole divergence due to a subtle interplay between masses and the Jarlskog invariant, which we calculate analytically. The calculation is not complete however, since the full two-loop renormalization of the real 2HDM is not yet available in the literature. The exceptional region of the parameter space (ERPS) of the two Higgs doublet model (2HDM) is defined to be the parameter regime where the scalar potential takes on a very special form. In the standard parameterization of the 2HDM scalar potential with squared mass parameters $m_{11}^2$, $m_{22}^2$, $m_{12}^2$, and dimensionless couplings, $λ_1$, $λ_2$, $\ldots,λ_7$, the ERPS corresponds to $λ_1=λ_2$, $λ_7=-λ_6$, $m_{11}^2=m_{22}^2$ and $m_{12}^2=0$, corresponding to a scalar potential with an enhanced generalized CP symmetry called GCP2. Many special features persist if $λ_1=λ_2$ and $λ_7=-λ_6$ are retained while allowing for $m_{11}^2\neq m_{22}^2$ and/or $m_{12}^2\neq 0$, corresponding to a scalar potential with a softly-broken GCP2 symmetry, which we designate as the ERPS4. In this paper, we examine many of the special features of the ERPS4, as well as even more specialized cases within the ERPS4 framework in which additional constraints on the scalar potential parameters are imposed. By surveying the landscape of the ERPS4, we complete the classification of 2HDM scalar potentials that exhibit an exact Higgs alignment (where the tree-level couplings of one neutral scalar coincide with those of the Standard Model Higgs boson), due to a residual symmetry that is unbroken in the vacuum. One surprising aspect of the ERPS4 is the possibility that the scalar sector is CP-conserving despite the presence of a complex parameter of the scalar potential whose complex phase cannot be removed by separate rephasings of the two scalar doublet fields. The significance of the ERPS4 regime for custodial symmetry is also discussed, and the cases where a custodial symmetric 2HDM scalar potential preserves an exact Higgs alignment are elucidated.

Zirconia and hafnia based thin films have attracted tremendous attention in the last decade due to their unexpected ferroelectric behavior at the nanoscale, which facilitates the downscaling of ferroelectric devices. The present work reports a novel ferroelectric rhombohedral phase of ZrO2 that can be achieved in thin films grown on (111)- Nb:SrTiO3 substrates by ion-beam sputtering. Structural and ferroelectric characterizations reveal that the (111)-oriented ZrO2 films are under epitaxial compressive strain and display a switchable ferroelectric polarization of about 20.2 μC/cm2 with a coercive field of 1.5 MV/cm. Moreover, the time dependent polarization reversal characteristics of Nb:STO/ZrO2/Au film capacitors exhibit bell-shape curves, a typical feature of ferroelectric films associated with domains reversal. The estimated activation field is comparable to the coercive field obtained from polarization-electric field hysteresis loops. Interestingly, the studied films show ferroelectric behavior per se, i.e., there is no need to apply the wake-up cycle that is essential to induce ferroelectricity in the conventional (orthorhombic) ferroelectric phase of ZrO2. Therefore, the present films have a technologically advantage over the previously studied ferroelectric ZrO2 films, and may be attractive for nanoscale ferroelectric devices.

Industrial Internet-of-Things (IIoT) results from the addition of sensing and actuating capabilities to industrial environments to improve the overall manufacturing processes. Some of these systems have highly-complex tasks of monitorization and control and need to be programmed accordingly. The use of visual programming, such as workflows, is common in these systems due to the abstraction they provide to the systems programmer. However, such programming environments have several deficiencies on what regards debugging capabilities, mostly due to the constraints that difficult the use of traditional mechanisms. The work presented in this paper approaches these issues, delving into the design and implementation of a multi-strategy debugging mechanism into a commercial-grade Manufacturing Execution System. To validate the approach, a proof-of-concept was then developed and validated against different debugging scenarios.

We derive necessary and sufficient conditions for all global symmetries of the most general two Higgs doublet model (2HDM) scalar potential entirely in terms of reparametrization independent, i.e. basis invariant, objects. This culminates in what we call a "Symmetry Map" of the parameter space of the model and the fundamental insight that there are, in general, two algebraically distinct ways of how symmetries manifest themselves on basis invariant objects: either, basis invariant objects can be non-trivially related, or, basis covariant objects can vanish. These two options have different consequences on the resulting structure of the ring of basis invariants and on the number of remaining physical parameters. Alongside, we derive for the first time necessary and sufficient conditions for CP conservation in the 2HDM entirely in terms of CP-even quantities. This study lays the methodological foundation for analogous investigations of global symmetries in all other models that have unphysical freedom of reparametrization, most notably the Standard Model flavor sector.

Confined geometries offer useful and experimentally amenable mechanical testing arrangements in which to study the molecular and micro-structural processes which govern plastic yield in stress environments dominated by hydrostatic pressure over shear. However, the changes to macroscopic stress strain behaviour that result from switching from an unconfined mode such as uniaxial compression to a confined one are often overlooked and display a surprising level of complexity, even for simple elastic plastic constitutive models. Here we report a confinement induced strain hardening effect in polystyrene thin films achieved through repeated plastic loading with a cylindrical flat punch whose diameter is many times the initial film thickness. This high aspect ratio combines with constraint provided by film material surrounding the contact to generate a state of confined uniaxial strain in the indented region, rendering the deformation one dimensional. By repeated loading into the plastic domain, we achieve a 66% increase in the confined yield stress, from 0.3 GPa to 0.5 GPa. Through finite element simulation and analytic modelling of the principal stresses and strains, we show that this effect arises not from intrinsic changes to the structure of the material, but rather residual stresses imparted during plastic loading. We contrast this effect with intrinsic changes to glassy thin films such as physical ageing and thermal cross-linking.

The complex 2HDM (C2HDM) is the most general CP-violating two Higgs doublet model that possesses a softly-broken $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry. However, the physical consequences of the model cannot depend on the basis of scalar fields used to define it. Thus, to get a better sense of the significance of the C2HDM parameters, we have analyzed this model by employing a basis-independent formalism. This formalism involves transforming to the Higgs basis (which is defined up to an arbitrary complex phase) and identifying quantities that are invariant with respect to this phase degree of freedom. Using this method, we have obtained the constraints that enforce the softly-broken $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetry. One can then relate the C2HDM parameters to basis-independent quantities up to a two-fold ambiguity. We then show how this remaining ambiguity is resolved. We also examine the possibility of spontaneous CP violation when the scalar potential of the C2HDM is explicitly CP-conserving. Basis-independent constraints are presented that govern the presence of spontaneous CP violation.

We investigate charge and spin currents that may appear in some materials, considering the possible couplings and the symmetries of a field-theoretical model presented here. We inspect these possible currents in (1+2) dimensions by adopting an N =2 - D=3 supersymmetric framework with a Chern-Simons term and non-minimal couplings as well. We discuss a number of aspects in connection with a vortex configuration that is topologically viable. The new features of our investigation take into account the nature of both the U(1)-symmetry and supersymmetry (SUSY) breakings in presence of the vortex. We focus on aspects of the fermionic sector and their interactions with the currents. In connection with the spectrum of fermions, we also derive the mass gap in terms of the parameters of the the model. Another point we highlight is the role SUSY in our considerations. Once graphene and topological insulator materials are described by a Dirac-like equation, we assume, as a working hypothesis, that SUSY may also have some influence on the properties of these materials. Along this line, it is mandatory to connect the SUSY breakdown to this class of materials. We believe that our discussion could bring some elements for the understanding of this category of lower-dimensional systems.

We study the one-loop corrections to the $Zb\bar{b}$ vertex in extensions of the Standard Model with arbitrary numbers of scalar doublets, neutral scalar singlets, and charged scalar singlets. Starting with a general parameterization of theories with neutral and singly-charged scalar particles, we derive the conditions that, in a renormalizable model, must be obeyed by the couplings in order for the divergent contributions to cancel. Then, we show that those conditions are indeed obeyed by the models that we are interested in, and we write down the full finite expression for the vertex in those models. We apply our results to some particular cases, highlighting the importance of the diagrams with neutral scalars.

This paper starts from the Fisher-Kolmogorov-Petrovskii-Piskunov equation to model diffusive populations. The main result, according to this model, is that two connected patches in a system do not always contribute to each other. Specifically, inserting a large fragment next to a small one is always positive for life inside the small patch, while inserting a very small patch next to a large one can be negative for life inside the large fragment. This result, obtained to homogeneously fragmented regions, is possible from the general case expression for the minimum sizes in a system of two patches. This expression by itself is an interesting result, because it allows the study of other characteristics not included in the present work.

This is the second of a series of papers that explores the physical parameterization, sum rules and unitarity bounds arising from a non-minimal scalar sector of the Standard Model (SM) that consists of N Higgs doublets. In this paper, we focus on the structure and implication of the Yukawa interactions that couple the N scalar doublets to the SM fermions. We employ the charged Higgs basis, which is defined as the basis of scalar fields such that the neutral scalar field vacuum expectation value resides entirely in one of the N scalar doublet fields, and the charged components of the remaining N-1 scalar doublet fields are the physical (mass-eigenstate) charged Higgs fields. Based on the structure of the Yukawa Lagrangian of the model (and as a consequence of tree-level unitarity), one may deduce numerous sum rules, several of which have not appeared previously in the literature. These sum rules can be used to uncover intimate relations between the structure of the Higgs-fermion couplings and the scalar/gauge couplings. In particular, we show that the approximate alignment limit, in which the W+W- and ZZ couplings to the observed Higgs boson are approximately SM-like, imposes significant constraints on the Higgs-fermion couplings.

Our analysis is inspired in BGL models, where, as the result of a symmetry of the Lagrangian, there are tree-level scalar mediated Flavour-Changing-Neutral-Currents, with the flavour structure depending only on the CKM matrix. A systematic analysis is done on the various possible schemes, which are classified in different classes, depending on the way the extra symmetries constrain the matrices of couplings defining the flavour structure of the scalar mediated neutral currents. All the resulting flavour textures of the Yukawa couplings are stable under renormalisation since they result from symmetries imposed at the Lagrangian level. We also present a brief phenomenological analysis of the most salient features of each class of symmetry constrained 2HDM.

The model has been used as a benchmark model to search for CP-violation at the LHC and as a possible explanation for the matter-antimatter asymmetry of the Universe. In this work, we re-analyse in full detail the softly broken $\mathbb{Z}_2$ symmetric complex two-Higgs doublet model (C2HDM). We provide the code C2HDM_HDECAY implementing the C2HDM in the well-known HDECAY program which calculates the decay widths including the state-of-the-art higher order QCD corrections and the relevant off-shell decays. Using C2HDM_HDECAY together with the most relevant theoretical and experimental constraints, including electric dipole moments (EDMs), we review the parameter space of the model and discuss its phenomenology. In particular, we find cases where large CP-odd couplings to fermions are still allowed and provide benchmark points for these scenarios. We examine the prospects of discovering CP-violation at the LHC and show how theoretically motivated measures of CP-violation correlate with observables.

The form factor $f_4^Z$ is evaluated at one loop in a general $R_ξ$ gauge and its magnitude is estimated in the realistic parameter space. Then we turn to the decoupling limit of the two-Higgs doublet model, where the extra scalars are heavy and the physics can be described by the Standard Model supplemented by higher-dimensional operators. The leading operator contributing to $f_4^Z$ at one loop is identified. The CP violating ZZZ vertex is not generated in the effective theory by dimension-8 operators, but instead arises only at the dimension-12 level, which implies an additional suppression by powers of the heavy Higgs mass scale.

If the scalar sector of the Standard Model is non-minimal, one might expect multiple generations of the hypercharge-1/2 scalar doublet analogous to the generational structure of the fermions. In this work, we examine the structure of a Higgs sector consisting of N Higgs doublets (where N \geq 2). It is particularly convenient to work in the so-called charged Higgs basis, in which the neutral Higgs vacuum expectation value resides entirely in the first Higgs doublet, and the charged components of remaining N-1 Higgs doublets are mass-eigenstate fields.
We elucidate the interactions of the gauge bosons with the physical Higgs scalars and the Goldstone bosons and show that they are determined by an Nx2N matrix. This matrix depends on (N-1)(2N-1) real parameters that are associated with the mixing of the neutral Higgs fields in the charged Higgs basis. Among these parameters, N-1 are unphysical (and can be removed by rephasing the physical charged Higgs fields), and the remaining 2(N-1)^2 parameters are physical. We also demonstrate a particularly simple form for the cubic interaction and some of the quartic interactions of the Goldstone bosons with the physical Higgs scalars. These results are applied in the derivation of Higgs coupling sum rules and tree-level unitarity bounds that restrict the size of the quartic scalar couplings. In particular, new applications to three Higgs doublet models with an order-4 CP symmetry and with a Z_3 symmetry, respectively, are presented.

This solution is presented in the explicit form, which allows to recuperate all the cases found in the literature as particular cases, namely, one isolated fragment, one single fragment communicating with its neighborhood, a system with two identical fragments isolated from the matrix but mutually communicating and a system of two identical fragments inserted in a homogeneous matrix. It is also addressed the new problem of a single fragment communicating with the matrix, with different life difficulty of each side. As application, it is found that the internal condition $a_{0}$ can set which system is the worst to life. This prediction confirms and extends the prediction already found in the literature between isolated and non-isolated systems.

For this system we find the minimal size of each fragment in the explicit form and compare with the explicit results for similar problems found in the literature. From this comparison emerges an unexpected result that for a same set of the parameters, the isolated system studied in this work with size L, can be better or worst than the non isolated systems with the same size L, uniquely depending on the parameter $a_{0}$ (internal conditions of the patches). Due to the fact that this result is unexpected we propose a experimental verification.

We prove that if two germs of irreducible complex analytic curves at $0\in\mathbb{C}^2$ have different sequence of characteristic exponents, then there exists $0<α<1$ such that those germs are not $α$-Hölder homeomorphic. For germs of complex analytic plane curves with several irreducible components we prove that if any two of them are $α$-Hölder homeomorphic, for all $0<α<1$, then there is a correspondence between their branches preserving sequence of characteristic exponents and intersection multiplicity of pair of branches. In particular, we recovery the sequence of characteristic exponents of the branches and intersection multiplicity of pair of branches are Lipschitz invariant of germs of complex analytic plane curves.

We discuss the validity of the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SM EFT) as the low-energy effective theory for the two-Higgs-doublet Model (2HDM). Using the up-to-date Higgs signal strength measurements at the LHC, one can obtain a likelihood function for the Wilson coefficients of dimension-6 operators in the EFT Lagrangian. Given the matching between the 2HDM and the EFT, the constraints on the Wilson coefficients can be translated into constraints on the parameters of the 2HDM Lagrangian. We discuss under which conditions such a procedure correctly reproduces the true limits on the 2HDM. Finally, we employ the SM EFT to identify the pattern of the Higgs boson couplings that are needed to improve the fit to the current Higgs data. To this end, one needs, simultaneously, to increase the top Yukawa coupling, decrease the bottom Yukawa coupling, and induce a new contact interaction of the Higgs boson with gluons. We comment on how these modifications can be realized in the 2HDM extended by new colored particles.

This Report summarizes the results of the activities of the LHC Higgs Cross Section Working Group in the period 2014-2016. The main goal of the working group was to present the state-of-the-art of Higgs physics at the LHC, integrating all new results that have appeared in the last few years. The first part compiles the most up-to-date predictions of Higgs boson production cross sections and decay branching ratios, parton distribution functions, and off-shell Higgs boson production and interference effects. The second part discusses the recent progress in Higgs effective field theory predictions, followed by the third part on pseudo-observables, simplified template cross section and fiducial cross section measurements, which give the baseline framework for Higgs boson property measurements. The fourth part deals with the beyond the Standard Model predictions of various benchmark scenarios of Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model, extended scalar sector, Next-to-Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model and exotic Higgs boson decays. This report follows three previous working-group reports: Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 1. Inclusive Observables (CERN-2011-002), Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 2. Differential Distributions (CERN-2012-002), and Handbook of LHC Higgs Cross Sections: 3. Higgs properties (CERN-2013-004). The current report serves as the baseline reference for Higgs physics in LHC Run 2 and beyond.

Abstract:
The rare decay $h \rightarrow Υγ$ has a very small rate in the Standard Model, due to a strong cancellation between the direct and indirect diagrams. Models with a changed $hbb$ coupling can thus lead to a great increase in this decay. Current limits on two Higgs doublet models still allow for the possibility that the $hbb$ coupling might have a sign opposite to the Standard Model; the so-called "…

Current limits on two Higgs doublet models still allow for the possibility that the $hbb$ coupling might have a sign opposite to the Standard Model; the so-called "wrong-sign". We show how $h \rightarrow Υγ$ can be used to put limits on the wrong-sign solutions.

Two Higgs doublet models with an $S_3$ symmetry
Authors:

Abstract:
We study all implementations of the $S_3$ symmetry in the two Higgs doublet model with quarks, consistent with non-zero quark masses and a Cabibbo-Kobayashi-Maskawa (CKM) matrix which is not block diagonal. We study the impact of the various soft-breaking terms and vacuum expectation values, and find an interesting relation between $α$ and $β$. We also show that, in this minimal setting, only two…

We study the impact of the various soft-breaking terms and vacuum expectation values, and find an interesting relation between $α$ and $β$. We also show that, in this minimal setting, only two types of assignments are possible: either all field sectors are in singlets or all field sectors have a doublet.

Models beyond the Standard Model (bSM) often involve elaborate Higgs sectors, which can be a source of CP-violation. It brings up the question of recognizing in an efficient way whether a model is CP-violating. There is a diffuse belief that the issue of explicit CP invariance can be linked to the existence of a basis in which all coefficients are real; with even a theorem proposed a decade ago claiming that the scalar sector of any multi-Higgs doublet model is explicitly CP-conserving if and only if all of its coefficients can be made real by a basis change. This is compounded by the fact that in all specific multi Higgs models considered so far, the calculations complied with this claim. Here, we present the first counterexample to this statement: a CP-conserving three-Higgs-doublet model for which no real basis exists. We outline the phenomenological consequences of this model, and notice that the extra neutral Higgs bosons are neither CP-even nor CP-odd but are "half-odd" under the generalized CP-symmetry of the model.

We consider situations where there are natural cancellations in such contributions. In particular, when the spin 0 particle has both scalar and pseudoscalar couplings, one may have a self-cancellation. We illustrate one such partial cancellation with BGL models. We also inquire whether the flavour changing quark interactions can lead to new production mechanisms for a neutral scalar at LHC.

Within two Higgs doublet models, it is possible that the current vacuum is not the global minimum, in which case it could possibly decay at a later stage. We discuss the tree-level conditions which must be obeyed by the most general scalar potential in order to preclude that possibility. We propose a new procedure which is not only more general but also easier to implement than the previously published one, including CP conserving as well as CP violating scalar sectors. We illustrate these conditions within the context of the Z2 model, softly broken by a complex, CP violating parameter.
