We consider the case of exceptional Laguerre polynomials $X_1$ of type I, II and III, their ordinary differential equations and the problem of finding general solution beside the polynomial part. We will develop an algebraic approach based on the Schrodinger form of the problem and associate representations of the underlying spectrum generating algebra. We use the Darboux-Crum transformation to construct ladder operators of fourth order for the case of the exceptional Laguerre polynomials $X_1$ of type I, II and III. We then obtain all zero modes for the lowering and raising operators. We construct the induced representation for the linearly independent solutions, including the polynomial states. Those states forming the general solution are important non only in the construction of wider set of physical states satisfying different boundary conditions, but also in context of getting isospectral deformations. Our approach, allows to provide a completely algebraic construction of the two linearly independent solutions of the ordinary differential equation of the exceptional orthogonal polynomials of Laguerre type $X_1$ ( case I, II and III). The analogue of Rodrigues formulas for the general solution are constructed. The set of finite states from which the other states can be obtained algebraically is not unique but the vanishing arrow and diagonal arrow from the diagram of the 2-chain representations can be used to obtain minimal sets. These Rodrigues formulas are then exploited, not only to construct all the states (polynomial and non-polynomial), in a purely algebraic way, but also to obtain coefficients from the action of the ladder operators also in an algebraic manner. Those results are established via higher commutation relations related to the cubic Heisenberg Weyl algebra.

We provide new insights into the solvability property of an Hamiltonian involving of the fourth Painlevé transcendent and its derivatives. This Hamiltonian is third order shape invariant and can also be interpreted within the context of second supersymmetric quantum mechanics. In addition, this Hamiltonian admits third order lowering and raising operators. We will consider the case when this Hamiltonian is irreducible i.e. when no special solutions exist for given parameters $α$ and $β$ of the fourth Painlevé transcendent $P_{IV}(x,α,β)$. This means that the Hamiltonian does not admit a potential in terms of rational functions ( or hypergeometric type of special functions ) for those parameters. In such irreducible case, the ladder operators are involving the fourth Painlevé transcendent and its derivative. An important case for which this occurs is when the second parameter (i.e. $β$) of the fourth Painlevé transcendent $P_{IV}(x,α,β)$ is strictly positive i.e. $β>0$. This Hamiltonian has been studied for all hierarchies of rational solutions that comes in three families connected to the generalised Hermite and Okamoto polynomials. The explicit form of ladder, the associated wavefunctions involving exceptional orthogonal polynomials and recurrence relations were also completed described. Here, we develop a description of the induced representations based on various commutator identities for highest and lowest weight type representations for the irreducible case. We also provide for such representations new formula concerning the explicit form of the related excited states from point of view of the Schrodinger equation as two variables polynomials that involve the fourth Painlevé transcendent and its derivative.

We extend the method for constructing symmetry operators of higher order for two-dimensional quantum Hamiltonians by Kalnins, Kress and Miller (2010). This expansion method expresses the integral in a finite power series in terms of lower degree integrals so as to exhibit it as a first-order differential operators. One advantage of this approach is that it does not require the a priori knowledge of the explicit eigenfunctions of the Hamiltonian nor the action of their raising and lowering operators as in their recurrence approach (2011). We obtain insight into the two-dimensional Hamiltonians of radial oscillator type with general second-order differential operators for the angular variable. We then re-examine the Hamiltonian of Tremblay, Turbiner and Winternitz (2009) as well as a deformation discovered by Post, Vinet and Zhedanov (2011) which possesses reflection operators. We will extend the analysis to spaces of constant curvature. We present explicit formulas for the integrals and the symmetry algebra, the Casimir invariant and oscillator realisations with finite-dimensional irreps which fill a gap in the literature.

The construction of analytic solutions for quasi-exactly solvable systems is an interesting problem. We revisit a class of models for which the odd solutions were largely missed previously in the literature: the anharmonic oscillator, the singular anharmonic oscillator, the generalized quantum isotonic oscillator, non-polynomially deformed oscillator, and the Schrödinger system from the kink stability analysis of $φ^6$-type field theory. We present a systematic and unified treatment for the odd and even sectors of these models. We find generic closed-form expressions for constraints to the allowed model parameters for quasi-exact solvability, the corresponding energies and wavefunctions. We also make progress in the analysis of solutions to the Bethe ansatz equations in the spaces of model parameters and provide insight into the curves/surfaces of the allowed parameters in the parameter spaces. Most previous analyses in this aspect were on a case-by-case basis and restricted to the first excited states. We present analysis of the solutions (i.e. roots) of the Bethe ansatz equations for higher excited states (up to levels $n$=30 or 50). The shapes of the root distributions change drastically across different regions of model parameters, illustrating phenomena analogous to phase transition in context of integrable models. Furthermore, we also obtain the $sl(2)$ algebraization for the class of models in their respective even and odd sectors in a unified way.

The construction of superintegrable systems based on Lie algebras and their universal enveloping algebras has been widely studied over the past decades. However, most constructions rely on explicit differential operator realisations and Marsden-Weinstein reductions. In this paper, we develop an algebraic approach based on the subalgebras of the 2D conformal algebra $\mathfrak{c}(2)$. This allows us to classify the centralisers of the enveloping algebra of the conformal algebra and construct the corresponding Hamiltonians with integrals in algebraic form. It is found that the symmetry algebras underlying these algebraic Hamiltonians are six-dimensional quadratic algebras. The Berezin brackets and commutation relations of the quadratic algebraic structures are closed without relying on explicit realisations or representations. We also give the Casimir invariants of the symmetry algebras. Our approach provides algebraic perspectives for the recent work by Fordy and Huang on the construction of superintegrable systems in the Darboux spaces.

We review three different approaches to polynomial symmetry algebras underlying superintegrable systems in Darboux spaces. The first method consists of using deformed oscillator algebra to obtain finite-dimensional representations of quadratic algebras. This allow one to gain information on the spectrum of the superintegrable systems. The second method has similarities with the induced module construction approach in the context of Lie algebras and can be used to construct infinite dimensional representations of the symmetry algebras. Explicit construction of these representations is a non-trivial task due to the non-linearity of the polynomial algebras. This method allows the construction of states of the superintegrable systems beyond the reach of separation of variables. As a result, we are able to construct a large number of states in terms of Airy, Bessel and Whittaker functions which would be difficult to obtain in other ways. We also discuss the third approach which is based on the notion of commutants of subalgebras in the enveloping algebra of a Poisson algebra or a Lie algebra. This allows us to discover new superintegrable models in the Darboux spaces and to construct their integrals and symmetry algebras via polynomials in the enveloping algebras.

We review some aspects of the Racah algebra $R(n)$, including the closure relations, pointing out their role in superintegrability, as well as in the description of the symmetry algebra for several models with coalgebra symmetry. The connection includes the generic model on the $(n-1)$ sphere. We discuss an algebraic scheme of constructing Hamiltonians, integrals of the motion and symmetry algebras. This scheme reduces to the Racah algebra $R(n)$ and the model on the $(n-1)$ sphere only for the case of specific differential operator realizations. We review the method, which allows us to obtain the commutant defined in the enveloping algebra of $\mathfrak{sl}(n)$ in the classical setting. The related $\mathcal{A}_3$ polynomial algebra is presented for the case $\mathfrak{sl}(3)$. An explicit construction of the quantization of the scheme for $\mathcal{A}_3$ by symmetrization of the polynomial and the replacement of the Berezin bracket by commutator and symmetrization of the polynomial relations is presented. We obtain the additional quantum terms. These explicit relations are of interest not only for superintegrability, but also for other applications in mathematical physics.

We investigate the nonlinear algebra $W_3$ generated by the 9 functionally independent permutation-symmetric operators in the three-particle rational quantum Calogero model. Decoupling the center of mass, we pass to a smaller algebra $W'_3$ generated by 7 operators, which fall into a spin-$1$ and a spin-$\frac32$ representation of the conformal $sl(2)$ subalgebra. The commutators of the spin-$\frac32$ generators with each other are quadratic in the spin-$1$ generators, with a central term depending on the Calogero coupling. One expects this algebra to feature three Casimir operators, and we construct the lowest one explicitly in terms of Weyl-ordered products of the 7 generators. It is a polynomial of degree 6 in these generators, with coefficients being up to quartic in $\hbar$ and quadratic polynomials in the Calogero coupling $\hbar^2g(g{-}1)$. Putting back the center of mass, our Casimir operator for $W_3$ is a degree-9 polynomial in the 9 generators. The computations require the evaluation of nested Weyl orderings. The classical and free-particle limits are also given. Our scheme can be extended to any finite number $N$ of Calogero particles and the corresponding nonlinear algebras $W_N$ and $W'_N$.

We investigate the real Lie algebra of first-order differential operators with polynomial coefficients, which is subject to the following requirements. (1) The Lie algebra should admit a basis of differential operators with homogeneous polynomial coefficients of degree up to and including three. (2) The generator of the algebra must include the translation operators $\partial_k$ for all the variables $x_1$,...,$x_k$. (3) The Lie algebra is the smallest indecomposable Lie algebra satisfying (1) and (2). It turns out to be a 39-dimensional Lie algebra in six variables ($k=6$) and the construction of this algebra is also the simplest possible case in the general construction of the Lie algebras of the transitively differential groups introduced by Guillemin and Sternberg in 1964 involving the coefficients of degree 3. Those algebras and various subalgebras have similarities with algebras related to different applications in physics such as those of the Schrödinger, Conformal and Galilei transformation groups with and without central extension. The paper is devoted to the presentation of the structure and different decompositions of the Lie algebra under investigation. It is also devoted to the presentation of relevant Lie subalgebras and the construction of their Casimir invariants using different methods. We reexamine different examples of reduction chains $\mathfrak{g} \supset \mathfrak{g}'$ of Lie algebras in order to show how the polynomials determining the commutant with respect to the subalgebra $\mathfrak{g}'$ leads to polynomial deformations of Lie algebras. These polynomial algebras have already been observed in various contexts, such as in the framework of superintegrable systems. Two relevant chains extensively studied in Nuclear Physics, namely the Elliott chain $\mathfrak{su}(3) \supset \mathfrak{so}(3)$ and the chain $\mathfrak{so}(5) \supset \mathfrak{su}(2) \times \mathfrak{u}(1)$ related to the Seniority model, are analyzed in detail from this perspective. We show that these two chains both lead to three-generator cubic polynomial algebras, a result that paves the way for a more systematic investigation of nuclear models in relation to polynomial structures arising from reduction chains. In order to show that the procedure is not restricted to semisimple algebras, we also study the chain $\hat{S}(3) \supset \mathfrak{sl}(2,\mathbb{R}) \times \mathfrak{so}(2)$ involving the centrally-extended Schr{ö}dinger algebra in $(3+1)$-dimensional space-time. The approach chosen to construct these polynomial algebras is based on the use of the Lie-Poisson bracket, so that all the results are presented in the Poisson (commutative) setting. The advantage of considering this approach {\it vs.} the enveloping algebras is emphasized, commenting on the main formal differences between the polynomial Poisson algebras and their noncommutative analogue. As an illustrative example of the latter, the three-generator cubic algebra associated to the Elliott chain is reformulated in the Lie algebraic (noncommutative) setting.

Starting from a purely algebraic procedure based on the commutant of a subalgebra in the universal enveloping algebra of a given Lie algebra, the notion of algebraic Hamiltonians and the constants of the motion generating a polynomial symmetry algebra is proposed. The case of the special linear Lie algebra $\mathfrak{sl}(n)$ is discussed in detail, where an explicit basis for the commutant with respect to the Cartan subalgebra is obtained, and the order of the polynomial algebra is computed. It is further shown that, with an appropriate realization of $\mathfrak{sl}(n)$, this provides an explicit connection with the generic superintegrable model on the $(n-1)$-dimensional sphere $\mathbb{S}^{n-1}$ and the related Racah algebra $R(n)$. In particular, we show explicitly how the models on the $2$-sphere and $3$-sphere and the associated symmetry algebras can be obtained from the quadratic and cubic polynomial algebras generated by the commutants defined in the enveloping algebra of $\mathfrak{sl}(3)$ and $\mathfrak{sl}(4)$, respectively. Exceptional orthogonal Hermite and Laguerre polynomials have been linked to the k-step extension of harmonic and singular oscillators. The exceptional polynomials allow the existence of different supercharges from the Darboux-Crum and Krein-Adler constructions of supersymmetric quantum mechanics. They also allow the existence of different types of ladder relations and their associated recurrence relations. The existence of such relations is a unique property of these polynomials. Those relations have been used to construct 2D models which are superintegrable, and display an interesting spectrum, degeneracies and finite-dimensional unitary representations. In previous works, only the physical or polynomial part of the spectrum is discussed. It is known that the general solutions are associated with other types of recurrence/ladder relations. We plan to discuss in detail the case of the exceptional Hermite polynomials $X_2^{(1)}$ and to explicitly present new chains obtained by acting with different types of ladder operators. We will exploit a recent result by one of the authors [32], where the general analytic solution was constructed and connected with the non-degenerate confluent Heun equation. The analogue Rodrigues formulas for the general solution are constructed. The set of finite states from which the other states can be obtained algebraically is not unique but the vanishing arrow and diagonal arrow from the diagram of the 2-chain representations can be used to obtain minimal sets. These Rodrigues formulas are then exploited, not only to construct the states, polynomial and non-polynomial, in a purely algebraic way, but also to obtain coefficients from the action of ladder operators also in an algebraic manner based on further commutation relations between monomials of the generators.

The decomposition problem of the enveloping algebra of a simple Lie algebra is reconsidered combining both the analytical and the algebraic approach, showing its relation with the internal labelling problem with respect to a nilpotent subalgebra. A lower bound for the number of generators of the commutant as well as the maximal Abelian subalgebra are obtained. The decomposition problem for the exceptional Lie algebra $G_2$ is completely solved.

We propose a systematic procedure to construct polynomial algebras from intermediate Casimir invariants arising from (semisimple or non-semisimple) Lie algebras $\mathfrak{g}$. In this approach, we deal with explicit polynomials in the enveloping algebra of $\mathfrak{g} \oplus \mathfrak{g} \oplus \mathfrak{g}$. We present explicit examples to show how these Lie algebras can display different behaviours and can lead to Abelian algebras, quadratic algebras or more complex structures involving higher order nested commutators. Within this framework, we also demonstrate how virtual copies of the Levi factor of a Levi decomposable Lie algebra can be used as a tool to construct "copies" of polynomial algebras. Different schemes to obtain polynomial algebras associated to algebraic Hamiltonians have been proposed in the literature, among them the use of commutants of various type. The present approach is different and relies on the construction of intermediate Casimir invariants in the enveloping algebra $\mathcal{U}(\mathfrak{g} \oplus \mathfrak{g} \oplus \mathfrak{g})$.

In this paper we treat all of these algebras as instances of the class of quadratic (and higher degree) commutator bracket algebras of PBW type. We provide a general approach for simplifying the constraints arising from the diamond lemma, and apply this in particular to give a comprehensive analysis of the quadratic case. We present new examples of quadratic algebras, which admit a cubic Casimir invariant. The connection with other approaches such as Gröbner bases is developed, and we suggest how our explicit and computational techniques can be relevant in other contexts.

A complete classification of 2D superintegrable systems on two-dimensional conformally flat spaces has been performed over the years and 58 models, divided into 12 equivalence classes, have been obtained. We will re-examine two pseudo-Hermitian quantum systems $E_{8}$ and $E_{10}$ from such a classification by a new approach based on extra sets of ladder operators. Those extra ladder operators are exploited to obtain the generating spectrum algebra and the dynamical symmetry one. We will relate the generators of the dynamical symmetry algebra to the Hamiltonian, thus demonstrating that the latter can be written in an algebraic form. We will also link them to the integrals of motion providing the superintegrability property. This demonstrates how the dynamical symmetry algebra explains the symmetries. Furthermore, we will exploit those algebraic constructions to generate extended sets of states and give the action of the ladder operators on them. We will present polynomials of the Hamiltonian and the integrals of motion that vanish on some of those states, then demonstrating that the sets of states not only contain eigenstates, but also generalized states. Our approach provides a natural framework for such states.

This work reports and classifies the most general construction of rational quantum potentials in terms of the generalized Hermite polynomials. This is achieved by exploiting the intrinsic relation between third-order shape-invariant Hamiltonians and the fourth Painlevé equation, such that the generalized Hermite polynomials emerge from the $-1/x$ and $-2x$ hierarchies of rational solutions. Such a relation unequivocally establishes the discrete spectrum structure, which, in general, is composed as the union of a finite- and infinite-dimensional sequence of equidistant eigenvalues separated by a gap. The two indices of the generalized Hermite polynomials determine the dimension of the finite sequence and the gap. Likewise, the complete set of eigensolutions can be decomposed into two disjoint subsets. In this form, the eigensolutions within each set are written as the product of a weight function defined on the real line times a polynomial. These polynomials fulfill a second-order differential equation and are alternatively determined from a three-term recurrence relation (second-order difference equation), the initial conditions of which are also fixed in terms of generalized Hermite polynomials.

We introduce the general polynomial algebras characterizing a class of higher order superintegrable systems that separate in Cartesian coordinates. The construction relies on underlying polynomial Heisenberg algebras and their defining higher order ladder operators. One feature of these algebras is that they preserve by construction some aspects of the structure of the $\mathfrak{gl}(n)$ Lie algebra. Among the classes of Hamiltonians arising in this framework are various deformations of harmonic oscillator and singular oscillator related to exceptional orthogonal polynomials and even Painlevé and higher order Painlevé analogs. As an explicit example, we investigate a new three-dimensional superintegrable system related to Hermite exceptional orthogonal polynomials of type III. Among the main results is the determination of the degeneracies of the model in terms of the finite-dimensional irreducible representations of the polynomial algebra.

A shape invariant nonseparable and nondiagonalizable two-dimensional model with anharmonic complex interaction, first studied by Cannata, Ioffe, and Nishnianidze, is re-examined with the purpose of providing an algebraic construction of the associated functions to the excited-state wavefunctions, needed to complete the basis. The two operators $A^+$ and $A^-$, coming from the shape invariant supersymmetric approach, where $A^+$ acts as a raising operator while $A^-$ annihilates all wavefunctions, are completed by introducing a novel pair of operators $B^+$ and $B^-$, where $B^-$ acts as the missing lowering operator. It is then shown that building the associated functions as polynomials in $A^+$ and $B^+$ acting on the ground state provides a much more efficient approach than that used in the original paper. In particular, we have been able to extend the previous results obtained for the first two excited states of the quartic anharmonic oscillator either by considering the next three excited states or by adding a cubic or a sextic term to the Hamiltonian.

We show that these systems are superintegrable and admit an integral of motion that is of fourth-order. As such systems have been classified, we see that these potential satisfy a non-linear equation related to Painlevé VI. We begin by demonstrating the process with the simpler example of rational extensions of the harmonic oscillator and use the classification of third-order superintegrable systems to connect these families with the known solutions of Painlevé IV associated with Hermite polynomials.

We discuss a procedure to determine finite sets $\mathcal{M}$ within the commutant of an algebraic Hamiltonian in the enveloping algebra of a Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$ such that their generators define a quadratic algebra. Although independent from any realization of Lie algebras by differential operators, the method is partially based on an analytical approach, and uses the coadjoint representation of the Lie algebra $\mathfrak{g}$. The procedure, valid for non-semisimple algebras, is tested for the centrally extended Schrödinger algebras $\widehat{S}(n)$ for various different choices of algebraic Hamiltonian. For the so-called extended Cartan solvable case, it is shown how the existence of minimal quadratic algebras can be inferred without explicitly manipulating the enveloping algebra.

The $N$-dimensional Smorodinsky-Winternitz system is a maximally superintegrable and exactly solvable model, being subject of study from different approaches. The model has been demonstrated to be multiseparable with wavefunctions given by Laguerre and Jacobi polynomials. In this paper we present the complete symmetry algebra ${\cal SW}(N)$ of the system, which it is a higher-rank quadratic one containing the recently discovered Racah algebra ${\cal R}(N)$ as subalgebra. The substructures of distinct quadratic ${\cal Q}(3)$ algebras and their related Casimirs are also studied. In this way, from the constraints on the oscillator realizations of these substructures, the energy spectrum of the $N$-dimensional Smorodinsky-Winternitz system is obtained. We show that ${\cal SW}(N)$ allows different set of substructures based on the Racah algebra ${\cal R}({ N})$ which can be applied independently to algebraically derive the spectrum of the system.

The recent interest in the study of higher-rank polynomial algebras related to $n$-dimensional classical and quantum superintegrable systems with coalgebra symmetry and their connection with the generalised Racah algebra $R(n)$, a higher-rank generalisation of the rank one Racah algebra $R(3)$, raises the problem of understanding the role played by the $n - 2$ quadratic subalgebras generated by the left and right Casimir invariants (sometimes referred as universal quadratic substructures) from this new perspective. Such subalgebra structures play a signficant role in the algebraic derivation of spectrum of quantum superintegrable systems. In this work, we tackle this problem and show that the above quadratic subalgebra structures can be understood, at a fixed $n > 3$, as the images of $n - 2$ injective morphisms of $R(3)$ into $R(n)$. We show that each of the $n-2$ quadratic subalgebras is isomorphic to the rank one Racah algebra $R(3)$. As a byproduct, we also obtain an equivalent presentation for the universal quadratic subtructures generated by the partial Casimir invariants of the coalgebra. The construction, which relies on explicit (symplectic or differential) realisations of the generators, is performed in both the classical and the quantum cases.

We extend and generalize the construction of Sturm-Liouville problems for a family of Hamiltonians constrained to fulfill a third-order shape-invariance condition and focusing on the "$-2x/3$" hierarchy of solutions to the fourth Painlevé transcendent. Such a construction has been previously addressed in the literature for some particular cases but we realize it here in the most general case. The corresponding potential in the Hamiltonian operator is a rationally extended oscillator defined in terms of the conventional Okamoto polynomials, from which we identify three different zero-modes constructed in terms of the generalized Okamoto polynomials. The third-order ladder operators of the system reveal that the complete set of eigenfunctions is decomposed as a union of three disjoint sequences of solutions, generated from a set of three-term recurrence relations. We also identify a link between the eigenfunctions of the Hamiltonian operator and a special family of exceptional Hermite polynomial.

A shape invariant nonseparable and nondiagonalizable three-dimensional model with quadratic complex interaction was introduced by Bardavelidze, Cannata, Ioffe, and Nishnianidze. However, the complete hidden symmetry algebra and the description of the associated states that form Jordan blocks remained to be studied. We present a set of six operators $\{A^{\pm},B^{\pm},C^{\pm}\}$ that can be combined to build a ${\mathfrak{gl}}(3)$ hidden algebra. The latter can be embedded in an ${\mathfrak{sp}}(6)$ algebra, as well as in an ${\mathfrak{osp}}(1/6)$ superalgebra. The states associated with the eigenstates and making Jordan blocks are induced in different ways by combinations of operators acting on the ground state. We present the action of these operators and study the construction of an extended biorthogonal basis. These rely on establishing various nontrivial polynomial and commutator identities. We also make a connection between the hidden symmetry and the underlying superintegrability property of the model. Interestingly, the integrals generate a cubic algebra. This work demonstrates how various concepts that have been applied widely to Hermitian Hamiltonians, such as hidden symmetries, superintegrability, and ladder operators, extend to the pseudo-Hermitian case with many differences.

These four operators then serve as building blocks for constructing ${\mathfrak{gl}}(2)$ generators, acting within the set of associated functions belonging to the Jordan block corresponding to a given energy eigenvalue. This analysis is extended to the set of Jordan blocks by constructing two pairs of bosonic operators, finally yielding an ${\mathfrak{sp}}(4)$ algebra, as well as an ${\mathfrak{osp}}(1/4)$ superalgebra. It appears as the symmetry algebra of the $3$-parameter system on the $2$-sphere from which all second-order conformally flat superintegrable models in $2$D can be obtained by means of suitable limits and contractions. A higher rank generalization of $R(3)$, the so-called rank $n-2$ Racah algebra $R(n)$, has been considered recently and showed to be the symmetry algebra of the general superintegrable model on the $(n-1)$-sphere. In the present work, we show that such an algebraic structure naturally arises as embedded inside a larger quadratic algebra characterizing $n$D superintegrable models with non-central terms. This is shown both in classical and quantum mechanics through suitable (symplectic or differential) realisations of the Racah and additional generators. Among the main results, we present an explicit construction of the complete symmetry algebras for two families of $n$-dimensional maximally superintegrable models, the Smorodinsky-Winternitz system and the generalized Kepler-Coulomb system. For both families, the underlying symmetry algebras are higher-rank quadratic algebras containing the Racah algebra $R(n)$ as subalgebra. High-order algebraic relations among the generators of the full quadratic algebras are also obtained both in the classical and quantum frameworks. These results should shed new light to the further understanding of the structures of quadratic algebras in the context of superintegrable systems.

Construction of superintegrable systems based on Lie algebras have been introduced over the years. However, these approaches depend on explicit realisations, for instance as a differential operators, of the underlying Lie algebra. This is also the case for the construction of their related symmetry algebra which take usually the form of a finitely generated quadratic algebra. These algebras often display structure constants which depend on the central elements and in particular on the Hamiltonian. In this paper, we develop a new approach reexamining the case of the generic superintegrable systems on the 2-sphere for which a symmetry algebra is known to be the Racah algebra $R(3)$. Such a model is related to the 59 $2D$ superintegrable systems on conformally flat spaces and their 12 equivalence classes. We demonstrate that using further polynomials of degree 2,3 and 4 in the enveloping algebra of $su(3)$ one can generate an algebra based only on abstract commutation relations of $su(3)$ Lie algebra without explicit constraints on the representations or realisations. This construction relies on the maximal Abelian subalgebra, also called MASA, which are the Cartan generators and their commutant. We obtain a new 6-dimensional cubic algebra where the structure constant are integer numbers which reduce from a quartic algebra for which the structure constant depend on the Cartan generator and the Casimir invariant. We also present other form of the symmetry algebra using the quadratic and cubic Casimir invariants of $su(3)$. It reduces as the known quadratic Racah algebra $R(3)$ only when using an explicit realization. This algebraic structure describe the symmetry of the generic superintegrable systems on the 2 sphere. We also present a contraction to another 6-dimensional cubic algebra which would corresponding to the symmetry algebra of a Smorodinsky-Winternitz model.

In this work, we introduce a new realization of exactly-solvable time-dependent Hamiltonians based on the solutions of the fourth Painlevé and the Ermakov equations. The latter is achieved by introducing a shape-invariant condition between an unknown quantum invariant and a set of third-order intertwining operators with time-dependent coefficients. The new quantum invariant is constructed by adding a deformation term to the well-known parametric oscillator invariant. Such a deformation depends explicitly on time through the solutions of the Ermakov equation, which ensures the regularity of the new time-dependent potential of the Hamiltonian at each time. On the other hand, with the aid of the proper reparametrization, the fourth Painlevé equation appears, the parameters of which dictate the spectral behavior of the quantum invariant. In particular, the eigenfunctions of the third-order ladder operators lead to several sequences of solutions to the Schrödinger equation, determined in terms of the solutions of a Riccati equation, Okamoto polynomials, or nonlinear bound states of the derivative nonlinear Schrödinger equation. Remarkably, it is noticed that the solutions in terms of the nonlinear bound states lead to a quantum invariant with equidistant eigenvalues, which contains both an (N+1)-dimensional and an infinite sequence of eigenfunctions. The resulting family of time-dependent Hamiltonians is such that, to the authors' knowledge, have been unnoticed in the literature of stationary and nonstationary systems.

We revise a method by Kalnins, Kress and Miller (2010) for constructing a canonical form for symmetry operators of arbitrary order for the Schrödinger eigenvalue equation $HΨ\equiv (Δ_2 +V)Ψ=EΨ$ on any 2D Riemannian manifold, real or complex, that admits a separation of variables in some orthogonal coordinate system. Most of this paper is devoted to describing the method. Details will be provided elsewhere. As examples we revisit the Tremblay and Winternitz derivation of the Painlevé VI potential for a 3rd order superintegrable flat space system that separates in polar coordinates and we show that the Painlevé VI potential also appears for a 3rd order superintegrable system on the 2-sphere that separates in spherical coordinates, as well as a 3rd order superintegrable system on the 2-hyperboloid that separates in spherical coordinates and one that separates in horocyclic coordinates. The purpose of this project is to develop tools for analysis and classification of higher order superintegrable systems on any 2D Riemannian space, not just Euclidean space.

We present a new method for constructing $D$-dimensional minimally superintegrable systems based on block coordinate separation of variables. We give two new families of superintegrable systems with $N$ ($N\leq D$) singular terms of the partitioned coordinates and involving arbitrary functions. These Hamiltonians generalize the singular oscillator and Kepler systems. We derive their exact energy spectra via separation of variables. We also obtain the quadratic algebras satisfied by the integrals of motion of these models. We show how the quadratic symmetry algebras can be constructed by novel application of the gauge transformations from those of the non-partitioned cases. We demonstrate that these quadratic algebraic structures display an universal nature to the extent that their forms are independent of the functions in the singular potentials.

In recent years, progress toward the classification of superintegrable systems with higher order integrals of motion has been made. In particular, a complete classification of all exotic potentials with a third or a fourth order integrals, and allowing separation of variables in Cartesian coordinates. All doubly exotic potentials with a fifth order integral have also been completely classified. It has been demonstrated how the Chazy class of third order differential equations plays an important role in solving determining equations. Moreover, taking advantage of various operator algebras defined as Abelian, Heisenberg, Conformal and Ladder case of operator algebras, we re-derived these models. These new techniques also provided further examples of superintegrable Hamiltonian with integrals of arbitrary order. It has been conjectured that all quantum superintegrable potentials that do not satisfy any linear equation satisfy nonlinear equations having the Painlevé property. In addition, it has been discovered that their integrals naturally generate finitely generated polynomial algebras and the representations can be exploited to calculate the energy spectrum. For certain very interesting cases associated with exceptional orthogonal polynomials, these algebraic structures do not allow to calculate the full spectrum and degeneracies. It has been demonstrated that alternative sets of integrals which can be build and used to provide a complete solution. This this allow to make another conjecture i.e. that higher order superintegrable systems can be solved algebraically, they require alternative set of integrals than the one provided by a direct approach.

A generalization $\mathfrak{Gal}_{\ell}(p,q)$ of the conformal Galilei algebra $\mathfrak{g}_{\ell}(d)$ with Levi subalgebra isomorphic to $\mathfrak{sl}(2,\mathbb{R})\oplus\mathfrak{so}(p,q)$ is introduced and a virtual copy of the latter in the enveloping algebra of the extension is constructed. Explicit expressions for the Casimir operators are obtained from the determinant of polynomial matrices. For the central factor $\overline{\mathfrak{Gal}}_{\ell}(p,q)$, an exact formula giving the number of invariants is obtained and a procedure to compute invariants functions that do not depend on variables of the Levi subalgebra is developed. It is further shown that such solutions determine complete sets of invariants provided that the relation $d\leq 2\ell+2$ is satisfied.

We review recent results on superintegrable quantum systems in a two-dimensional Euclidean space with the following properties. They are integrable because they allow the separation of variables in Cartesian coordinates and hence allow a specific integral of motion that is a second order polynomial in the momenta. Moreover, they are superintegrable because they allow an additional integral of order $N>2$. Two types of such superintegrable potentials exist. The first type consists of "standard potentials" that satisfy linear differential equations. The second type consists of "exotic potentials" that satisfy nonlinear equations. For $N= 3$, 4 and 5 these equations have the Painlevé property. We conjecture that this is true for all $N\geq3$. The two integrals X and Y commute with the Hamiltonian, but not with each other. Together they generate a polynomial algebra (for any $N$) of integrals of motion. We show how this algebra can be used to calculate the energy spectrum and the wave functions.

We construct ladder operators, $\tilde{C}$ and $\tilde{C^\dagger}$, for a multi-step rational extension of the harmonic oscillator on the half plane, $x\ge0$. These ladder operators connect all states of the spectrum in only infinite-dimensional representations of their polynomial Heisenberg algebra. For comparison, we also construct two different classes of ladder operator acting on this system that form finite-dimensional as well as infinite-dimensional representations of their respective polynomial Heisenberg algebras. For the rational extension, we construct the position wavefunctions in terms of exceptional orthogonal polynomials. For a particular choice of parameters, we construct the coherent states, eigenvectors of $\tilde{C}$ with generally complex eigenvalues, $z$, as superpositions of a subset of the energy eigenvectors. Then we calculate the properties of these coherent states, looking for classical or non-classical behaviour. We calculate the energy expectation as a function of $|z|$. We plot position probability densities for the coherent states and for the even and odd cat states formed from these coherent states. We plot the Wigner function for a particular choice of $z$. For these coherent states on one arm of a beamsplitter, we calculate the two excitation number distribution and the linear entropy of the output state. We plot the standard deviations in $x$ and $p$ and find no squeezing in the regime considered. By plotting the Mandel $Q$ parameter for the coherent states as a function of $|z|$, we find that the number statistics is sub-Poissonian.

We develop new constructions of 2D classical and quantum superintegrable Hamiltonians allowing separation of variables in Cartesian coordinates. In classical mechanics we start from two functions on a one-dimensional phase space, a natural Hamiltonian $H$ and a polynomial of order $N$ in the momentum $p.$ We assume that their Poisson commutator $\{H,K\}$ vanishes, is a constant, a constant times $H$, or a constant times $K$. In the quantum case $H$ and $K$ are operators and their Lie commutator has one of the above properties. We use two copies of such $(H,K)$ pairs to generate two-dimensional superintegrable systems in the Euclidean space $E_2$, allowing the separation of variables in Cartesian coordinates. All known separable superintegrable systems in $E_2$ can be obtained in this manner and we obtain new ones for $N=4.$
