We have studied the charge and heat transport properties of a hot and dense QCD matter using a novel approximation method within the quasiparticle model. Utilizing a novel collision integral for both the relaxation time approximation (RTA) and the Bhatnagar-Gross-Krook (BGK) models, we have solved the relativistic Boltzmann transport equation to estimate the electrical conductivity and the thermal conductivity. We have investigated the temperature dependence of these transport coefficients. We have also provided a comparison between our findings and those of the standard RTA and BGK models. Further, we have explored the temperature dependence of the thermal diffusion constant and the Lorenz number using the novel approaches of the aforesaid models.

In the present work, we have studied how the rotation of the QGP medium affects the transport coefficients and observables in heavy ion collisions. For the noncentral collisions, although most of the angular momentum gets carried away by the spectators, there still remains a finite angular momentum with a finite range of angular velocity, which thus incites rotation in the produced matter. As a result, various properties of the QGP medium are likely to be modulated by the rotation. We have calculated the transport coefficients and observables, such as electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, Knudsen number, elliptic flow, specific heat at constant pressure, specific heat at constant volume, trace anomaly, thermal diffusion constant and isothermal compressibility using the kinetic theory to see the effect of rotation on them. In particular, we have used the novel relaxation time approximation for the collision integral in the relativistic Boltzmann transport equation to derive the transport coefficients and compared them with their values in the relaxation time approximation within the kinetic theory approach in conjunction with the finite angular velocity. We have found that the angular velocity plays an important role and enhances the flow of charge and heat in the medium. Further, as compared to the relaxation time approximation, the electrical and thermal conductivities have smaller values in the novel relaxation time approximation and these differences between the conductivities in the said approximations are more pronounced at high temperature than at low temperature. Furthermore, all the aforesaid observables are found to be sensitive to the rotation of the QGP medium.

A new observable, $S_{T}$, is introduced in terms of the sum of the transverse momentum of charged particles ($\sum_{i} p_{T_{i}}$ ) produced in proton proton (p$-$p) collisions at LHC energies to probe the underlying events (UE). The UE are defined as those aspects of proton-proton collisions that are not attributed to the primary hard scattering process, but rather to the accompanying interactions of the rest of the proton. The conventional approach of studying underlying events is usually carried out by defining topological regions with respect to the leading particle in an event. The transverse region is generally sensitive to UE and various classifiers have been used to discriminate the extent of UE activity regions. The production of identified particles like $π^{\pm}$, $K^{\pm}$, p , $K_{S}^{0}$, and $Λ^{0}$ are studied in different ranges of transverse activity classifier in p$-$p collisions at $\sqrt{s} = 13 $ TeV using pQCD inspired PYTHIA 8 event generator. A comparative analysis of the identified particle spectra, mean multiplicity and mean transverse momentum has been carried out with respect to $S_{T}$ and the performance of this new observable is gauged by comparing the results with previously defined $R_{T}$ observable.

We have studied the effect of the nonextensive Tsallis mechanism on the viscous properties of hot QCD matter in the presence of a strong magnetic field. The results are compared to the case of absence of magnetic field. The viscous coefficients, such as the shear viscosity ($η$) and the bulk viscosity ($ζ$) are determined in the similar environment by utilizing the nonextensive Tsallis mechanism within the relaxation time approximation of kinetic theory. We have observed that, when the nonextensive parameter $q$ is just above unity, both shear and bulk viscosities get increased as compared to their counterparts at $q=1$. This enhancement in viscosities is more evident in the additional presence of a strong magnetic field. Furthermore, some observables pertaining to the flow characteristic, fluid behavior and conformal symmetry of the medium are also explored.

We have studied the impact of the nonextensivity on the transport coefficients related to charge and heat in thermal QCD. For this purpose, the electrical ($σ_{\rm el}$), Hall ($σ_{\rm H}$), thermal ($κ$) and Hall-type thermal ($κ_{\rm H}$) conductivities are determined using the kinetic theory approach in association with the nonextensive Tsallis statistical mechanism. The effect of nonextensivity is encoded in the nonextensive Tsallis distribution function, where the deviation of the parameter $q$ from 1 signifies the degree of nonextensivity in the concerned system. The thermal and electrical conductivities are found to increase with the introduction of nonextensivity, which means that the deviation of the medium from thermal equilibrium enhances both charge and heat transports. With the magnetic field, the deviations of $σ_{\rm el}$, $σ_{\rm H}$, $κ$ and $κ_{\rm H}$ from their respective equilibrated values increase, whereas these deviations decrease with the chemical potential. We have also studied how the extent of the nonextensivity modulates the longevity of magnetic field. Present work is further extended to the study of some observables associated with the aforesaid transport phenomena, such as the Knudsen number and the elliptic flow within the nonextensive Tsallis framework.

The bottom quark transport coefficients, i.e., drag and diffusion coefficients, have been studied for the collisional and soft gluon radiative processes within the viscous QCD medium. The thermal medium effects are incorporated using the effective fugacity quasiparticle model (EQPM). Both the shear and bulk viscous effects at leading order are embedded through the near-equilibrium distribution functions of the quark-gluon plasma (QGP) constituent quasiparticles. The transport coefficients' dependence on the bottom quark's initial momentum and QGP temperature has been investigated. The relative dominance of the radiative over the collisional process for the bottom quark seems to occur at a higher initial momentum compared to that of the charm quark. In contrast, the effect of the viscous corrections seems to be more for the charm quark.

The discovery and characterization of hot and dense QCD matter, known as Quark Gluon Plasma (QGP), remains the most international collaborative effort and synergy between theorists and experimentalists in modern nuclear physics to date. The experimentalists around the world not only collect an unprecedented amount of data in heavy-ion collisions, at Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC), at Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) in New York, USA, and the Large Hadron Collider (LHC), at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland but also analyze these data to unravel the mystery of this new phase of matter that filled a few microseconds old universe, just after the Big Bang. In the meantime, advancements in theoretical works and computing capability extend our wisdom about the hot-dense QCD matter and its dynamics through mathematical equations. The exchange of ideas between experimentalists and theoreticians is crucial for the progress of our knowledge. The motivation of this first conference named "HOT QCD Matter 2022" is to bring the community together to have a discourse on this topic. In this article, there are 36 sections discussing various topics in the field of relativistic heavy-ion collisions and related phenomena that cover a snapshot of the current experimental observations and theoretical progress. This article begins with the theoretical overview of relativistic spin-hydrodynamics in the presence of the external magnetic field, followed by the Lattice QCD results on heavy quarks in QGP, and finally, it ends with an overview of experiment results.

We have studied the momentum transport properties of a hot and dense QCD matter in the presence of weak magnetic field by determining the shear ($η$) and bulk ($ζ$) viscosities in the relaxation time approximation of kinetic theory. The dependence of $η$ and $ζ$ on the temperature has been explored in the presence of weak magnetic field ($B$-field) and finite chemical potential ($μ$). It is observed that both shear and bulk viscosities get decreased in the presence of a weak magnetic field, whereas the finite chemical potential increases these viscosities, specifically at low temperatures. This study is important to understand the sound attenuation through the Prandtl number (Pr), the nature of the flow through the Reynolds number (Re), the fluidity and location of transition point of the matter through the ratios $η/s$ and $ζ/s$ ($s$ is the entropy density), respectively. The Prandtl number is observed to increase in the weak magnetic field, whereas the presence of a finite chemical potential reduces its magnitude as compared to the scenario of absence of $B$-field and $μ$. However, Pr still remains larger than unity, indicating that the energy dissipation due to the sound attenuation is mostly governed by the momentum diffusion. It is noticed that the weak magnetic field makes the Reynolds number larger, whereas the chemical potential makes it smaller than that in the absence of $B$-field and $μ$. We have observed that the ratio $η/s$ decreases in the weak magnetic field regime, whereas the finite chemical potential increases its value, but the ratio $ζ/s$ is found to decrease in the presence of weak magnetic field as well as finite chemical potential.

We have studied the effects of weak magnetic field and finite chemical potential on the transport of charge and heat in hot QCD matter by estimating their respective response functions, such as the electrical conductivity ($σ_{\rm el}$), the Hall conductivity ($σ_{\rm H}$), the thermal conductivity ($κ_0$) and the Hall-type thermal conductivity ($κ_1$). The expressions of charge and heat transport coefficients are obtained by solving the relativistic Boltzmann transport equation in the relaxation time approximation at weak magnetic field and finite chemical potential. The interactions among partons are incorporated through their thermal masses. We have observed that $σ_{\rm el}$ and $κ_0$ decrease and $σ_{\rm H}$ and $κ_1$ increase with the magnetic field in the weak magnetic field regime. On the other hand, the presence of a finite chemical potential increases these transport coefficients. The effects of weak magnetic field and finite chemical potential on aforesaid transport coefficients are found to be more conspicuous at low temperatures, whereas at high temperatures, they have only a mild dependence on magnetic field and chemical potential. We have found that the presence of finite chemical potential further extends the lifetime of the magnetic field. Furthermore, we have explored the effects of weak magnetic field and finite chemical potential on the Knudsen number, the elliptic flow coefficient and the Wiedemann-Franz law.

The rope hadronization relies on the formation of ropes due to overlapping of strings in high multiplicity events followed by string shoving. A near side ridge-like structure which is qualitatively similar to the observed ridge in data was observed for high-multiplicity events when the mechanism of rope hadronization (with shoving) was enabled.

Anomalous event-by-event fluctuations of the relative yields of neutral (K$^0_s$) and charged kaon (K$^\pm$) have been predicted to yield a signature for the formation of Disoriented Chiral Condensate (DCC) in relativistic heavy-ion collisions. In this work, we model the production and decay of DCCs in the context of heavy-ion collisions at the Large Hadron Collider, and estimate the sensitivity of large acceptance detectors, such as the ALICE detector, towards the identification of such anomalous decays. Our study is based on the robust statistical observable, $ν_{\rm dyn}$, known for its sensitivity to dynamical fluctuations. We first present simulations without DCCs, based on the HIJING and AMPT models, in order to establish an approximate reference for the magnitude of $ν_{\rm dyn}({\rm K}^{\pm},{\rm K}^{0}_{s})$ and its centrality evolution in Pb--Pb collisions at the TeV energy scale. We next introduce simple phenomenological models of K$^0_s$ vs. K$^\pm$ event-by-event yield fluctuations, which we use to study the feasibility and sensitivity of detection of the production of DCCs in heavy-ion collisions. Although the precision of models such as HIJING and AMPT limit their use as absolute references and thus render anomalous fluctuations difficult to define precisely, our studies demonstrate that the magnitude of $ν_{\rm dyn}({\rm K}^{\pm},{\rm K}^{0}_{s})$ is in fact very sensitive to the presence of small admixture of DCCs in normal non-DCC events. Consequently, while large values of $ν_{\rm dyn}({\rm K}^{\pm},{\rm K}^{0}_{s})$ may not be sufficient to identify the existence of DCCs, nonetheless they constitute a first and necessary condition to signal their possible production in heavy-ion collisions.

The distribution describes the measured $p_{T}$ spectra for all multiplicity (or centrality)classes. The multiplicity dependence of the extracted parameters are studied for the mentioned collisions systems. The $λ$ parameter was observed to increase systematically with the collision multiplicity and follows a mass hierarchy for all collision system. This characteristic feature indicates that $λ$ can be associated to the strength of collectivity for heavy ion collisions. It can also be related to strength of dynamic effects such as multi-partonic interactions and color reconnections which mimic collectivity in smaller systems. The non-extensive $q$ parameter is found to be greater than one for all the particles suggesting that the strange particles are emitted from a source which is not fully equilibrated.

The aim is to build a nearly massless barrel detector consisting of truly cylindrical layers based on curved wafer-scale ultra-thin silicon sensors with MAPS technology, featuring an unprecedented low material budget of 0.05% X$_0$ per layer, with the innermost layers possibly positioned inside the beam pipe. In addition to superior tracking and vertexing capabilities over a wide momentum range down to a few tens of MeV/$c$, the detector will provide particle identification via time-of-flight determination with about 20~ps resolution. In addition, electron and photon identification will be performed in a separate shower detector. The proposed detector is conceived for studies of pp, pA and AA collisions at luminosities a factor of 20 to 50 times higher than possible with the upgraded ALICE detector, enabling a rich physics program ranging from measurements with electromagnetic probes at ultra-low transverse momenta to precision physics in the charm and beauty sector.

A comprehensive study shows that the data is well described within the framework of two component model which includes the contribution of "soft processes" and "hard processes" for different centrality classes and energies. The data at two different energies are compared by means of the ratio of $dN_{ch}/dη$ (and $dE_{T}/dη$) to see the interplay of energy and $x$-scaling.

Dihadron azimuthal correlations containing a high transverse momentum ($p_T$) trigger particle are sensitive to the properties of the nuclear medium created at RHIC through the strong interactions occurring between the traversing parton and the medium, i.e. jet-quenching. Previous measurements revealed a strong modification to dihadron azimuthal correlations in Au+Au collisions with respect to p+p and d+Au collisions. The modification increases with the collision centrality, suggesting a path-length or energy density dependence to the jet-quenching effect. This paper reports STAR measurements of dihadron azimuthal correlations in mid-central (20-60%) Au+Au collisions at $\sqrt{s_{_{\rm NN}}}=200$ GeV as a function of the trigger particle's azimuthal angle relative to the event plane, $φ_s=|φ_t-ψ_{\rm EP}|$. The azimuthal correlation is studied as a function of both the trigger and associated particle $p_T$. The subtractions of the combinatorial background and anisotropic flow, assuming Zero Yield At Minimum (ZYAM), are described. The correlation results are first discussed with subtraction of the even harmonic (elliptic and quadrangular) flow backgrounds. The away-side correlation is strongly modified, and the modification varies with $φ_s$, with a double-peak structure for out-of-plane trigger particles. The near-side ridge (long range pseudo-rapidity $Δη$ correlation) appears to drop with increasing $φ_s$ while the jet-like component remains approximately constant. The correlation functions are further studied with subtraction of odd harmonic triangular flow background arising from fluctuations. It is found that the triangular flow, while responsible for the majority of the amplitudes, is not sufficient to explain the $φ_s$-dependence of the ridge or the away-side double-peak structure. ...

Abstract:
We report on K*0 production at mid-rapidity in Au+Au and Cu+Cu collisions at \sqrt{s_{NN}} = 62.4 and 200 GeV collected by the Solenoid Tracker at RHIC (STAR) detector. The K*0 is reconstructed via the hadronic decays K*0 \to K+ pi- and \bar{K*0} \to K-pi+. Transverse momentum, pT, spectra are measured over a range of pT extending from 0.2 GeV/c to 5 GeV/c. The K*0 is reconstructed via the hadronic decays K*0 \to K+ pi- and \bar{K*0} \to K-pi+. Transverse momentum, pT, spectra are measured over a range of pT extending from 0.2 GeV/c to 5 GeV/c. The center of mass energy and system size dependence of the rapidity density, dN/dy, and the average transverse momentum, <pT>, are presented. The measured N(K*0)/N(K) and N(φ)/N(K*0) ratios favor the dominance of re-scattering of decay daughters of K*0 over the hadronic regeneration for the K*0 production. In the intermediate pT region (2.0 < pT < 4.0 GeV/c), the elliptic flow parameter, v2, and the nuclear modification factor, RCP, agree with the expectations from the quark coalescence model of particle production.

We report the first measurements of the kurtosis (κ), skewness (S) and variance (σ^2) of net-proton multiplicity (N_p - N_pbar) distributions at midrapidity for Au+Au collisions at \sqrt(s_NN) = 19.6, 62.4, and 200 GeV corresponding to baryon chemical potentials (μ_B) between 200 - 20 MeV. Our measurements of the products κσ^2 and S σ, which can be related to theoretical calculations sensitive to baryon number susceptibilities and long range correlations, are constant as functions of collision centrality. We compare these products with results from lattice QCD and various models without a critical point and study the \sqrt(s_NN) dependence of κσ^2. From the measurements at the three beam energies, we find no evidence for a critical point in the QCD phase diagram for μ_B below 200 MeV.

The detection of jets is, however, difficult because of large number of non-jet hadrons produced in the collision process. In this work we propose a method of identifying a jet and determining its transverse momentum by means of flow analysis. This has been done an event-by-event basis.
