Based on a content analysis of 856 news items sampled from Turkish local and national dailies between January 2013 and December 2015, this study investigates the media coverage and framing of Syrian women refugees in Turkey. It identified13 categories of gender- based problems related to different forms of violence, sexual abuse, specifically cases of forced and early marriage as second wives, and forced prostitution, and reproductive health challenges, which were analyzed through the texture of 6 distinct frames, extracted from the news data by the use of frame analysis tools. Then the study develops hypotheses regarding the type of media framing of Syrian refuge women in Turkey, their mental health and social integration into the host society.

Prostitution has been considered one of the most sensitive social issues in Turkey. The study aims to determine the attitudes toward prostitution by analyzing news on prostitution in three daily newspapers having the top circulations in Turkey. In this study, framing analysis is used to determine the representation of prostitutions in the news media. The analysis reveals that there are four themes in the period under review: non-Turkish prostitutes, disease – HIV, consumers and organized crime. ________________________________________________________________________

Abstract This article is a review of biological criminology theories which generates a considerable amount of skepticism and controversy among criminologists. Many early biological theories fall into the category of criminal anthropology: the scientific study of the relationship between human physical characteristics and criminality. Recently, Edward O. Wilson's paradigm of sociobiyology involves systematic study of the biological basis of social behavior and territo-riality as determinants of behavior. It does appear that various biological factors are correlated with various measures of criminal behavior, although the influence of social factors has overshadowed the relationship. This article also highlights the crime prevention strategies and policies suggested by biological criminology.

Research suggests that immigrants are reluctant to report crimes to the authorities. Turkey has recently witnessed a dramatic increase in the number of Syrian immigrants, who mostly reside in urban areas, particularly Istanbul and its surrounding cities. To rectify the complete lack of research on Syrians' crime reporting, this study uses survey data collected from 380 Syrians in Zeytinburnu, Istanbul, to investigate Syrian immigrants' willingness to report crime and the determinants of their crime reporting behavior. The findings suggest that Syrians are very willing to report crime to the police. In addition, satisfaction with the police and household size were positively correlated with crime reporting behavior.
