The task of this paper is to critically and empirically appraise the experience of African students in India as reported in the media in most recent time. In this, it embarked on a historical and analytical examination of Africa-India relations. The paper observes that India has been grossly sabotaged and undermined by image crisis as a result of the unpleasant experience of the African students. The article rallied heavily on secondary data especially media reports. It argued that the perception about Indians by foreign students has not been wholly positive and has paradoxically distorted India's international image. Thus, this paper hinged on a combination of factors, the chief among them been the contradiction and dissonance between India's image projected in the Africa and the daily experience of African students in India. The paper concluded with a call to reposition India's reputation in the minds of African students through a strategic collaborative effort of the government, media, higher education institutions, host communities and the African students.

The purpose of this study was to examine whether media owners' political affiliations influence news content and journalistic professionalism in Ghana. Media ownership theory as developed by Altschull in 1984 basically contends that the content of any newspaper is directly influenced by the interests of its owners. The findings of this study support this theory. The research was based on content analysis as well as in-depth interview. Media content was measured through content analysis of the two major newspapers of the country, Daily Guide and Enquirer. The two were selected because of their owners' political affiliations, circulation and reach. The results of the in-depth interviews were then compared with the findings of the content analysis. The articles reviewed coupled with data from the interviews appear to confirm the widely-held view that the Ghanaian media, particularly the press, have taken entrenched political positions. Therefore, the study found that in majority of the instances newspaper ownership did have relationship with the nature of coverage of NDC and NPP issues in Ghana from 2010 to 2014. The findings indicated that Daily Guide and Enquirer covered political issues in a similar fashion during the period under review. Hence, the main hypothesis that there was likely to be relationship between newspaper owners' political affiliations and the coverage of NDC and NPP issues in Ghana was supported by the results of the study.

An extensive amount of information and news related to the novel coronavirus pandemic was disseminated by social media in Nigeria. Up-to-date, there is little evidence on how this information may influence the psycho behavioral responses to this pandemic in Nigeria. This study aim is to investigate the influence of social media on psycho behavioral responses among Nigerians during the Covid-19 pandemic. This study used the survey method, the presentation of data was simple frequency and percentage tables. Quantitative analysis was used to interpret the data that was collected from the questionnaire. The sample size was 150 samples as the study distributed 150 questionnaires to residents/respondents in Masaka area of Nasarawa State. The purposive sampling technique was applied in this study. The results show a significant increase in social media and streaming services during the pandemic. Given that Nigerians usually place elevated value on social media networking and connectivity. Nigerians are far more susceptible to social media influence and information/news expectation, which often heightens their risk taking behaviours. However these behaviours are only exacerbated in stressful times. The findings also revealed the concerns over the Covid-19 pandemic and compulsive social media use significantly predicted high scores of escapism and to overcome depression and loneliness. The study also suggests various methods for correcting misconceptions about health through social media, including timely expert advice, regular public health awareness, and correction programs with periodic communication among general people and media algorithms. With the current proposed recommendations, one should always address the audiences' intellectual and emotional dimensions during this phase of fear and anxiety. However, social media can be an important component of sharing professional information to the public and keeping in contact with family and friends in the pandemic, its wild unsecured nature may expose users to misinformation, panic or hysteria.

This chapter assessed international news agencies, globalization and the debate on neo-colonialism. Premised on the tenets of dependency theory while the secondary sources of data relevant to the discourse were relied upon for analysis, it was revealed that international news agencies because of their advantages of extensive global network, fast circulation, easier circulation, versatility, not bound by location, highly economical as well as wider reach are used by developed nations of the world to expand communication links between different regions whereas colonialism was the expansion of both power and territory. This further widens the gap in information as flow developing countries are negatively reported as countries plagued by insecurity challenges, war, epidemics, corruption, hunger, political instability among others. The chapter thus recommends that developing countries should improve on the existing media stations available with a view to minimize the over dependency on international news agencies for information about events within and outside their immediate environment. Besides, the existing media in developing countries should churn out content that will be useful to their ever-increasing audience members to minimize the over dependency on foreign media and leaders in developing countries should focus on making life meaningful for their citizens to minimize the over dependency on developed countries.
