COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Although prisoners are considered a vulnerable population, no data repository currently exists to monitor the COVID-19 incidence in Nigerian prisons. To better understand the impact of COVID-19 within the Nigerian prison system, prisons should develop detailed COVID-19 response protocols, implement enhanced point-of-care testing, and initiate contact tracing with meticulous data collection.

The unavoidable tense situation of the COVID-19 pandemic dictates psychoanalysts to face with the range of questions, to which they have to find or invent their own responses. To some of these questions associations have formulated their clear guidelines. However, a certain unique case and circumstances of a certain country may not be covered by them. We believe it important to study all the processes which psychoanalysts observe and theorize on during the COVID-19 pandemic. This paper presents the results of an anonymous survey of psychoanalysts and psychoanalytic psychotherapists (n=71) from different institutions, associations and theoretical schools, which was conducted online after a month of lockdown in Ukraine to assess first observations and considerations of practitioners, which were related to the period of uncertainty and the COVID-19 pandemic unfolding.
Among the surveyed psychoanalysts who continued practicing during the quarantine, around two-thirds admitted that they had been focusing or shifting toward certain conceptions in their theoretical thinking more than they used to, which did not correlate with their experience or certification status. The obtained data content analysis has shown that these theories were referring to the following two main issues on (1) how the psychic response to the COVID-19 pandemic and quarantine in a particular case can be explained, and (2) how a psychoanalyst can deal with it through his or her own analytic stance and interventions. Practitioners were referring to the theoretical viewpoints of “Classic psychoanalysis”, “Object relations”, and the variety of particular theories, such as conceptions of mourning, anxiety, trauma, defense mechanisms and coping, manifestation of neurotic conflicts, Self issues, complexes, early traumatic experience, etc. Besides, psychoanalysts noted some valuable conceptions for supporting their analytic stance and for certain interventions, e.g., the significance of their own analysis, as well as containing, holding and transforming the analysand’s material. An unexpected finding was that 8% of psychoanalytic practitioners admitted that they were focused on some non-analytic theories and concepts during their practice in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, such as cognitive techniques of stress-management or stabilization. This may be interpreted both in terms of psychotherapy integration in order to obtain better results, as well as the evidence of lack of psychoanalytic theories or interventions for some important phenomena which take place during the real traumatized and depriving periods like the pandemic unfolding.

In this self-study, we, an instructional team of four teacher educators, inquired into the experience of teacher candidates as we adapted our work at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The transition to remote learning led us to arrive at the inquiry question: How did the approaches we privileged prior to the pandemic influence our teaching and teacher candidate learning at the beginning of the pandemic? Teacher candidates from the 2019-2020 cohort offered several insights into what made a difference for them when the program abruptly shifted online just as they were beginning their practicum. These themes included consistent gatherings of the cohort for collegial support, professional learning and well-being; the benefits of explicit and embedded social and emotional learning (SEL); and opportunities to apply SEL and selfregulated learning approaches during their online practicum. This self-study offered us insight into the practices we value (e.g., relational, equity-oriented pedagogy in the middle years) and how we can take these up online. Interestingly, we found relational, synchronous, SEL-infused pedagogy to be central to teacher candidates' learning, well-being, and success. Barriers encountered had to be addressed with immediacy, particularly in light of the call for antiracist education.

This article explores how the asymmetric institutionalization of the United Kingdom’s multinationality interacted with the COVID-19 pandemic. The UK’s political elite has traditionally accepted the country’s multinational character, but democratic institutionalization of it occurred relatively recently and in a remarkably asymmetric manner. Only the UK’s minority nations possess devolved governments, while the largest nation, England, is governed directly from the center. This framework has consequences for the pandemic response. It has clarified the relevance of devolved legislatures, but also highlights continued resistance of the UK’s governing elite to acknowledge the multi-level character of the state.

The Republic of Plato is a philosophical treatise describing the ideal city-state, a self-sufficient civil entity in the world of Ideas (Forms) that enables both individuals and the society to thrive. Elements of the Republic can be tracedwoka in modern policymaking. Plato's ethical and political philosophy consists of a standpoint of reflection towards contemporary challenges, one of whom is admittedly COVID-19 vaccination. Few countries have made vaccination obligatory for the whole of the population, while many countries consider making vaccination mandatory for particular high-risk groups and front line workers. In response to the growing debate on the necessity and the ethical integrity of mandatory vaccination against COVID-19, this paper discusses the matter in the context of Plato's Republic and provides relevant recommendations.

The uprising of the pandemic COVID-19 has paralysed the whole Indian economy, and as a result the Indian stock market is severely affected too. The widely inclusive lockdown articulated on 24 th March 2020 by the Prime Minister as a careful step against COVID-19, trailed by ensuing augmentations, has brought about a halt of all financial movement in the country. The objective of the study is to frame different asymmetric price volatility models for Selected Companies under Energy Sector using 1-min closing price from 15 th October 2019 to 15 th May 2020 to captivate the leverage effect of the pandemic. The asymmetric terms in the selected asymmetric models are providing sufficient proof that the stock price volatility of three companies out of six under NIFTY Energy i.e., BPCL, Power grid and Indian Oil Corporation are unfavourably influenced by the pandemic. The forecasting graphs for volatility of four companies have been plotted, reveals that there is consistency in the stock price returns of all these four companies but the graph of predicted variance of Indian Oil Corporation reveals that the volatility has been fluctuating drastically with many high peak variances or fluctuations during the 2 days of forecasted period.

The COVID-19 pandemic started in Wuhan, China, and spread to almost all over the world in four months. As pandemic cases began to be detected and increased in countries, governments have started to pursue various policies such as closing the city and country borders, social distance practices, the prohibition of going out, and creating herd immunity. Especially with the closure measures implemented, the countries’ financial systems have been adversely affected, and many sectors have suffered losses. On the other hand, the provision of public services in countries has become more complex. Therefore, countries have taken several measures to maintain their public services without interruption. Legal services are one of the essential services affected by this situation. This study deals with the general, financial and legal measures that Turkey has adopted to combat against COVID-19 pandemic. As a result of the study, while the functional features that stand out in the measures are presented, some suggestions are made for a better crisis management.

As cities are struggling to cope with the second wave of the global COVID-19 pandemic, the idea of 15-min cities seem to have sparked planners' imagination and politicians' willingness for providing us with a new urban planning eutopia. This paper explores the "15-min city" concept as a structural and functional element for redesigning contemporary cities. Methodologically, a study of three case cities that have adopted this new model of city vision, is carried out. The analysis focus on understanding how the idea of 15-min cities fits the legacies of different cities as described by traditional planning principles in the context of three evaluation pillars: inclusion, safety and health. The paper argues that the 15-min city approach is not a radical new idea since it utilizes long established planning principles. Nevertheless, it uses these principles to achieve the bottom-up promotion of wellbeing while it proposes an alternative way to think about optimal resource allocation in a citywide scale. Hence, application of 15-min city implies a shift in the emphasis of planning from the accessibility of neighborhood to urban functions to the proximity of urban functions within neighborhoods, along with large systemic changes in resource allocation patterns and governance schemes citywide.

Since it first started in China, COVID-19 outbreak has become the number one problem of the World. World Health Organization accepted COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic on March 11, 2020. In light of the latest information, it could be said that the world has never encountered such a pandemic in the last century. Tourism is one of the most sensitive sectors to crises such as wars, terrorist attacks, natural disasters and other kinds of unexpected phenomena. This study aims to forecast the short-term effects of COVID-19 pandemic on foreign visitors' demand for Turkey by using scenario analysis technique. According to the results, a decline in foreign visitors’ arrivals in the range of 5% to 53% is estimated. It means a loss of tourism revenues about $15.2 billion as the worst, and $1.5 billion as the best alternative scenario for 2020. It is essential to develop recovery plans and to implement them urgently, to minimize the harms of the COVID-19 pandemic on Turkish tourism.
