This paper contributes to the discussion on integrating societal considerations, stakeholders' perceptions and laymen knowledge into ecosystem services (ES) assessments. The paper illustrates how social mapping of perceived ES supply (or alternatively demand) can contribute to integrated ES assessment. Based on sketched locations of the, according to 38 respondents, most important ES at the local scale, we describe the perceived ES distribution with social landscape metrics (abundance, diversity, richness, risk, rarity) based on traditional landscape ecology indicators. We illustrate how social landscape metrics can inform ES management and planning and describe how synergies between ES as stated by the respondents differ from calculated synergies (the latter based on correlation coefficients between perceived ES abundance). We present indicators pointing to locations where (multiple) ES synergies are perceived by stakeholders (stated synergy index), and to conflicting ES and ES perceived to be at risk (risk index). Overlapping social ES hotspots based on the social landscape metrics with ES hotspots based on more traditional biophysical modelling (biophysical hotspots) and ecological inventories (ecological hotspots) results in social-ecological or social-biophysical hotspots, coldspots and warmspots relevant for nature and landscape planning, management and governance. Based on an analysis of the overlaps between social, biophysical and ecological hotspots on the one hand, and the contribution of ecological quality, land zoning categories and conservation statuses on the other hand, we discuss the added value of integrating social ES mapping in integrated ES assessment, above ES assessments based on biophysical or ecological attributes. Given the limited overlap between social hotspots and ecological or biophysical hotspots, we conclude that integrating stakeholders' mapping of perceived ES supply (or demand) into ES assessments is necessary to reflect the societal aspects of ES in ES assessments. However, with a limited sample of respondents, there is a risk of collectivisation of respondents' viewpoints as a common, societal stance. Moreover, the social landscape metrics are not suitable for describing the distribution of ES with low perceived abundance. Finally, we explain how social ES assessment can result in mainstreaming ES in planning, policy and practice.

Карта является результатом длительной работы команды Центра исследований миграции и этничности, РАНХиГС, задача которой состояла в том, чтобы выяснить, что из себя представляет обычный московский спальный район и как в нем происходит интеграция мигрантов. Для того чтобы ответить на эти вопросы, в 2014-2015 гг. было проведено более 150 глубинных интервью в двух районах Москвы – Кунцево и Капотне, вместе с многочисленными часами включенного наблюдения. По результатам исследования были выделены районные общественные пространства, средства районной коммуникации и типы жителей – «местных» и иноэтничных мигрантов, которые характерны для обоих районов и, в целом, для типичного московского спального района. Проследив, какие типы жителей какие пространства посещают, какими средствами коммуникации пользуются и с кем общаются, а также, какие средства коммуникации появляются на каких площадках, мы создали социальную карту московского района. Она, таким образом, представляет собой социальную сеть – с вершинами и связями между ними. Если какой-то тип жителей обладает большим числом связей с другими жителями, с пространствами и средствами коммуникации, то он считается хорошо интегрированным. Напротив, малое число таких связей будет свидетельствовать о слабой интегрированности в районную сеть.
Описанию элементов этой социальной карты – пространств, средств коммуникации и типов жителей (мигрантов и немигрантов) посвящена основная часть этого текста-гида (часть II). В части III излагается общее описание социальной карты района – типы жителей ранжируются по интеграционному потенциалу и по степени его использования, а также рассматриваются возможности для «соединения» отдельных типов жителей между собой. Часть из этих возможностей нашла отражение в интеграционных практиках – интеркультурном футболе, кулинарных мастер-классах, конкурсе видеороликов «Лица Капотни», видеопрезентации которых также представлены на этой выставке.

The Cauca corridor, comprised between Santander de Quilichao and Piendamó populations, is one of the many territorial realities that enrich both cultural and ethnographic diversity of Colombia. Many "new" dynamics are occurred in this region about this diversity, and the project that we present is focused on-from the creation-researching-and by means of a direct interpretation that territorial diversity. Based on the photography and the sound landscape, we pretend to show a possible idea of cultural territory (ies), and it is surrounding the exhibiting sketch that this idea of "habitat" has been forming. The difficulties that the project tackles put the focal point to demonstrate that "other" visions are possible thanks to the reflective spaces suggested by visual design and art; and especially define the problem around the new identitarian narratives arose from post-conflict. Supported by qualitative methodology, ethnographically, the project goes deep into the exploration of the multicultural territoriality. First, developing inspection dynamics and documentation of visual and sound perspectives around the socio-cultural speech and then, implementing from visual fields (photographic image) and sound (soundscapes) a contest understanding, of actors and/ or "places". We wanted to show a territory self-constructed as a defined cultural imaginary.

The aim of the present paper is to present and critically discuss the potentialities and limits of using official data (collected and reported by state-institutions) in order to shed light on consequences of uneven development and measure area deprivation in present-day Romania. Our argumentation is based on a quantitative inquiry at the level of rural communes and small-towns from three counties located in the historical region of Transylvania. It presents the reasons for choosing certain statistical indicators, the construction of composite indexes and the profiles of localities according to their values. We explore the statistical correlations between our indexes and the poverty rates measured for 2002 (CASPIS, 2004), as well as the Local Human Development Index proposed by Sandu (2011) and revised by the World Bank (2014). Unlike other poverty-mapping inquiries, our goal was not to identify compact, segregated and severely impoverished settlements, but to measure the extent of material deprivation at the level of the entire administrative unit. In this way, we refrained from seeing poverty as the problem of a socially (and sometimes spatially) marginalized settlement, and instead defined poverty as a problem of the entire local community, that should be addressed by the local community as a whole. Our data reveals that, after controlling for poverty and local resources, the share of the Roma ethnic minority is a strong statistical predictor of registered unemployment, however, it does not correlate with the frequency of granting social assistance benefits. In this way, we refrained from seeing poverty as the problem of a socially (and sometimes spatially) marginalized settlement, and instead defined poverty as a problem of the entire local community, that should be addressed by the local community as a whole. Our argumentation is based on a quantitative inquiry at the level of rural communes and small-towns from three counties from Transylvania, situated in the central part of Romania and partly corresponding to the historical region of Szeklerland (Székelyföld in Hungarian and Ținutul Secuiesc in Romanian): Mureș (Maros), Harghita (Hargita) and Covasna (Kovászna). Although in terms of ethnic distribution these three counties have a specific profile, with considerably larger shares of the Hungarian population 6 , in terms of economic and labour force indicators they largely resemble the central-region of the country and Romania

O Plano Brasil Sem Miséria (PBSM) é uma das políticas públicas sociais destinadas aos milhares de brasileiros que se encontram em estado de extrema pobreza, tendo inicialmente como objetivos elevar, até o final de 2014, a renda e as condições de bem-estar da população. Nesta perspectiva, o presente artigo tem por finalidade tecer algumas discussões a respeito desse plano no município do Encanto (RN). Para atingir os objetivos propostos, buscou-se um embasamento teórico sobre a temática do espaço rural, seguindo as ideias de Abramovay (2000); Candido (1971), além de autores que discutem o conceito de pobreza como Barros et al (2000) e Lima (2014); reflexões sobre as políticas públicas voltadas para as problemáticas sociais, debatidas por Teixeira (2002). Avaliou-se também o livro “O Brasil Sem Miséria”, publicação do Ministério do Desenvolvimento Social e Combate à Fome (MDS), de autoria da Ministra Campello et al (2014). Aportou-se teóricometodologicamente no método da Cartografia Social, trabalhado por Paulston (1996). Para estudar o perfil socioeconômico das famílias beneficiadas, consequentemente o Plano de forma mais detalhada, realizou-se pesquisa de campo e entrevistas, contendo perguntas semiabertas e fechadas, de caráter qualitativo, com o intuito de identificar as possíveis deficiências do Plano. Consideramos que o PBSM no município de Encanto, enquanto uma política pública de transferência de renda, não promove à expansão e a qualidade dos serviços públicos ofertados as pessoas em situação de extrema pobreza, como também não há a inclusão das famílias em outros programas.

The Uganda Land Alliance (ULA) is a membership consortium of national, regional and international civil society organizations and individuals, lobbying and advocating for fair land laws and policies that address the land rights of the poor, disadvantaged and vulnerable groups and individuals in Uganda. The Alliance was established in 1995 as an independent non-governmental legal entity, registered as a company limited by guarantee. Currently, it has a membership of 55 organisations and 26 individuals. ULA members form the organisation’s general assembly, which is its top most governing body.
This membership development strategy 2014 shows ULA’s current membership and sets out a series of objectives for the Alliance to continue to maintain, grow and engage its membership, including the actions that it will take to meet these objectives. It also describes how the Alliance will evaluate the delivery of the strategy. It should be noted that whilst this strategy is aimed at current members and potential members, the action plan will include staff engagement and involvement.
