This study was aimed to elucidate changes in the contents of proximate and fatty acid of the blue swimming crab (Portunus
pelagicus) eggs during embryonic development based on changes in egg colors. The changes in egg color during the
embryonic development are as follows: yellow, orange, brown and finally gray and black. The content of protein, fat
and carbohydrate in P. pelagicus eggs decreased, but the the content of water and ash increased at different embryonic
development stages. Twenty-nine types of fatty acids were detected in the crab eggs. The fatty acid content of orangecolored
eggs had lower fat compared to the other three colors. The content of SFA and MUFA eggs decreased as the egg color
changed, but the FUFA content increased. In general, the contents of ARA, EPA and DHA eggs increased during the color
change process from yellow to dark gray but declined sharply in the orange-colored eggs. Thus the content of proximate and fatty acid was changed as the egg color changed from yellow to dark gray.

The sand crab of family Albuneidae is widely distributed along the Indonesian coast. The presence of the sand crab, Albunea symmysta (Crustacea: Decapoda: Albuneidae), is reported for the first time from Sumatra and Java, Indonesia. A total of 14 specimens were collected from March 2013 to

Abstrak Kepulauan Seribu diduga sebagai salah satu rute migrasi berbagai jenis lumba-lumba. Hal ini didasarkan pada jumlah laporan dari nelayan dan masyarakat di Kepulauan Seribu pada keberadaan lumba-lumba. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk menilai jenis, perilaku, lokasi penyebaran, dan estimasi jumlah dan jenis Cetacean yang ditemukan di Kepulauan Seribu. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada 10-27Mei dan 22 Juni-3 Juli 2010. Pengamatan dilakukan setiap hari, kecuali hari Jumat, mulai jam 7:00-18:00. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode eksplorasi dengan menggunakan perahu motor. Pengamatan jenis, jumlah, dan perilaku lumba-lumba telah dilakukan secara visual. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian,dapat disimpulkan bahwa spesies lumba-lumba yang ditemukan di Kepulauan Seribu adalah Delphinus delphis, Pseudorca crassidens, Stenella longirostris, dan Tursiops truncatus, dengan jumlah total 145 individu. The objectives of this study were to determine the harmful species of dinoflagellates, to determine the concentration of nutriens in surface waters, and to analyze factors affecting the ecological aspects of the harmful dinoflagellates. The results showed that there were 7 genus of dinoflagellates found in this study i.e., Ceratium spp., Gymnodinium sp., Dinophysis sp., Gonyaulax sp., Noctiluca sp., Protoperi-dinium spp., and Peridinium sp. Protoperidinium spp. and Ceratium spp. were the predominant species, with their abundance ranged of 9-659 cells/L and 6-556 cells/L, respectively. In temporal scale, values of DO and water light penetration were not significantly different (α>0.05), while for the parameter of nutriens, salinity, and abundance were significantly different (α<0.05). Total abundance of dinoflagellates was significantly correlated with nitrate, nitrite, ammonia, phosphate, salinity, and DO. Harmful dinoflagellate species such as Dinophysis sp. (DSP), Gymnodinium spp. (NSP and PSP), Noctiluca sp. (anaerobic), and Gonyaulax sp. (anaerobic) were observed in the study area. The high concentration of ammonia (>1 mg/L) in the waters of Losari beach also indicated that the area was affected by anthropogenic activities. Minimizing nutrient inputs from the land was becoming the most priority measure to be done to avoid such effects related to dinoflagellate harmful algae bloms. ABSTRAK Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis dinoflagellata berbahaya, serta faktor-faktor lingkungan yang mempengaruhi keberadaan jenis dinoflagellata berbahaya ini. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada tujuh jenis dinoflagellata yang ditemukan pada penelitian ini, yaitu; sp. Spesies Protoperidinium spp. dan Ceratium spp. merupakan spesies predominan dengan kelimpahan masing-masing berkisar antara 9-659 cells/L and 6-556 cells/L. Perbandingan antar waktu pengukuran menunjukkan bahwa untuk parameter DO dan kecerahan tidak berbeda nyata (α >0,05), sedangkan nilai parameter unsur hara, salinitas, dan kelimpahan dinoflagelata berbeda nyata baik antar waktu pengambilan contoh maupun antar stasiun (α<0,05). Hal ini juga didukung oleh hasil analisis spearman correlation yang menunjukkan bahwa kelimpahan total dinoflagellata dipengaruhi oleh NO 3 , NO 2 , NH 3 , PO 4 , dan salinitas. Pada perairan Makassar dijumpai beberapa harmful species seperti Dinophysis sp. (DSP), Gymnodinium spp. (NSP dan PSP), Noctiluca sp. (anaerob), dan Gonyaulax sp. (anaerob). Kelimpahan dinoflagellate dipengaruhi oleh beberapa faktor lingkungan seperti unsur hara dan salinitas. Tingginya konsentrasi amoniak (>1 mg/L) di daerah Pantai Losari juga mengindikasikan bahwa daerah tersebut sangat terkena dampak anthropogenic. Untuk mengurangi dampak anthropogenic di perairan Makassar, perlu dilakukan suatu pengelolaan di daerah watershed, untuk meminimalisir pengkayaan nutrient di perairan pesisir Makassar.

KEY WORDS The first Andaman lobster, Metanephrops andamanicus (Wood-Mason, 1891) (Crustacea Astacidea Nephropidae) record from south of Java waters, part of Indian Ocean is reported in this paper. A total of 3 specimens were collected at a fish harbor in Palabuhanratu bay in May 2015. Morphological characters are illustrated and described. This finding enhances the biodiversity lists of Indonesian crustaceans.

Ciambulawung River is used for micro-hydro power plant (capacity 10.000 Watt). The purpose of this study was to determine the water quality status of Ciambulawung River by applying Water Pollution Index and NSF-WQI. The pollution index ranged 0.56 – 0.78 and NSF WQI ranged 87 – 88. Hence the river water quality was considered good. Based on pollution index and NSF WQI index it is concluded that communities living along river bank and micro-hydro power plant do not negatively affect the water quality of Ciambulawung River.

The blue swimming crab Portunus pelagicus is an important catch species for many coastal villages along the Java Sea coastline, but little is known regarding its reproductive biology or stock status. We examined the batch fecundity of female crabs that were collected monthly at landing sites from June 2011 to May 2012, calculated the relationships with body size, egg mass and month of the year, and determined the size at which females became potentially reproductive in the population inhabiting East Lampung waters (western Java Sea). Fecundity values ranged from 229,468 to 2,236,355 (mean = 926,638±30,975 [±SE]). The fecundity was positively and linearly correlated with carapace width (CW), but the relationships with body weight and egg mass were best described by logarithmic regression.
