The use e-learning at university has been  justified by the need for  a better and more flexible learning environment.  From its inception, however,  it has  generated its share of  debate about whether it  can improve students’  learning or  teach them  what is seen as more traditional skills (i.e.reading/listening  comprehension).  Using  Means et al.  (2010),  work on e-learning and  that of  Westhoff (2003) on foreign language pedagogy, this paper explores the use of elearning to improve reading/listening skills.  More specifically, this paper will focus on the use of the feedback function (Bellon and Blank 1992) to enhance students’  performance. Its speed, consistency and frequency is of particular relevance in  an e-learning environment.
