This upload is a final examination for which I completed for my Roma Rights course at Central European University. My paper focuses on the discrimination and inequalities experience by Roma women throughout mainly central and eastern Europe in their access to adequate healthcare.

The intention and purpose of this thesis is to highlight the issues of racial profiling by police in the jurisdictions of the United States and France. With supplementary international standards highlighted through the International Convention on the Elimination of all Forms of Racial Discrimination (ICERD), the underlying theme shows that regardless of whether a nation decides to acknowledge the presence and subsequent issue of race—specifically when it comes to the intersection of race and law enforcement—the perpetuation of racial stereotypes and policing based on one’s racial identity remains prevalent and problematic. This relevant problem, personified through racial profiling by police, results in varying outcomes on a case-by-case basis, from unjustified and unconstitutional stop-and-frisk, to unlawful arrest, and even homicide.
