The modelling of closed loop system helps to mitigate steady state error accumulation of measurements in open loop model. Integrated vehicle tracking research has been on the rise as both public and private sectors use ... more Integrated vehicle tracking research has been on the rise as both public and private sectors use the facility in acquiring real time management information to enhance their business processes. It is predominantly used for monitoring and tracking but may not be able to report incidents. The research proposes a design to effectively communicate from the vehicle any incident which may happen on a highway. The design involves combined wireless technology using Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), Global System for mobile Communication (GSM), and Global Position Satellite (GPS). It is based on the use of RFID as a communication tool from the driver of a vehicle to a local database server. This design termed Transport Highway Integrated Security System (THISS) will bridge the gap in the combined wireless technology by providing access to the driver with a key tagged RFID to help transmit prioritized signal via anin-the-vehicle unit to communicate the real time location of an incident.

Capacitive accelerometer is able to detect the displacement/position of a vehicle by means of Position-Velocity-Acceleration (PVA) model. The closed loop design is design to overcome the steady state error obtained in the equivalent open loop design. Therefore, in this paper, a parallel Proportional Integral Derivative (PID) controller with a derivative filter is designed to establish a unity feedback accelerometer for the purpose of reducing or eliminating the steady state error. The accelerometer gave an exact linear dependence of displacement on a step-like function of acceleration signal input. Matlab/Simulink software was used to design the control system and construct the overall proposed mathematical model. This research is about modelling and simulation of the RFID based Transport Highway Integrated Sy... more This research is about modelling and simulation of the RFID based Transport Highway Integrated System (THIS) using the iterative motion of the vehicle plying the highway and the application of Kalman filter to aid in effective positioning after signal transmit. This approach will help to identify drivers, vehicles and track location appropriately. The design when able to be implemented with the use of Kalman filter to filter out the noise there will be much accuracy in the vehicle position prediction on the highway. According to the graphs obtained through Kalman algorithm it was realized that: The noise level was appreciative as compared with the actual signal from the vehicle. If the vehicle model is created based on true situation our estimated state will be close to the true value. Even when measurements are very noisy that is a 20% error will only produce a 5% inaccuracy. The position prediction of a vehicle on the highway is better as the Gaussian white noise is eliminated, tracking to know the exact location via GPS coordinate will reduce the error margin. If you have a badly defined model, you will not get a good estimate. But you can relax your model by increasing your estimated error. This will let the Kalman filter rely more on the measurement values, but still allow some noise removal.

These challenges affect the both the environment and economic distribution the Ghana. This research employs a purposive sampling technique to collect the views of automobile operators in Ghana to establish a general overview of problems facing the sector. In this study, it is estimated that 75% of respondent's vehicle is powered by Diesel and only 5% of respondent's vehicle is moved by gas. Making the fossil fuel the most predominantly use means for vehicle operation in Ghana. The research identifies that the use of fuel and maintenance are challenging problems in vehicle operation. It is found that as the cost of fuel increases, the expenditure also increases with a marginal fare increase. It is established that, about 90% of the respondents asserted that it was very expensive hence they have being looking for other means such as the conversion of petrol/diesel to gas system. However the gas also poses another challenge with constant shortage. It was estimated that the cost of maintenance is at a modal cost of GHC250 per annum with modal number of maintenance in a year being 12.

This situation runs through all industrial, commercial and domestic sectors of the Ghanaian economy, posing much challenge to the economic growth. This study considers the Beauty Salon industry which is one important but neglected industry which depends mostly on power for all its activities, and also consumes a lot of energy. In the beauty salon industry, about 73% of the work force is women which falls under the hairdressing with the remaining being barbers. The research shows that, about 96% of their business operations depend on the National Electric grid. Finding an alternative means to provide electrical power source is of much significance. Notwithstanding this, the total average income of GH₵8,443, expenditure of GH₵3,488 and GH₵1,951 being the expenditure of light provision in the absence of national grid. Aside this, the cost of electricity bills keeps raising making the industry being under critical condition to stay in business. Therefore the study identifies various tools and equipment used in the industry and their power ratings to propose a possible design of photovoltaic (PV) system for the industry. This study proposes a 2.8KW Stand-alone Photovoltaic System to help solve the problem of entrepreneurs in the Beauty Salon industry. In view of this study, it can be recommended that, this PV can be implemented to promote it use in the Beauty Salon industry by the Ghana government and other donor agencies to sustain the burden on the industry. Also the study identifies the need for education of power management as most entrepreneurs in the Beauty industry have little knowledge on it.

Its formal system has 3-manned front desk personnel, who manages and handles all individual payments. The school has about 1730 students across 3-school years (1-3). They have two main kinds of payments:  Regular term-time payments (i.e. after school clubs, swimming and music lessons).  One off payments (i.e. boarding fees, school trips, school uniform). In view of this ‘theSOFTtribe’ team has being contracted to ease the strain on the school’s office.
