Crumbs: a virtual environment tracking tool for biological imaging

Published: 30 October 1995 Publication History

Abstract

The authors discuss the use of volume rendering techniques in a virtual reality environment for the visualization of volumetric data and tracking of fiber structures. Their application, called Crumbs, combines advantages from volume visualization and immersive environments in order to make the visualization and identification of complex biological structures easier. The authors present example applications from magnetic resonance imaging, electron microscopy, and confocal microscopy.
