Development and Application of Digital Curriculum Resources: Exploring the Impact of Finite Element Technology on Mechanics Education

Published: 29 May 2024 Publication History

Abstract

This paper presents the development and application of digital curriculum resources for the mechanics course, specifically focusing on the integration of finite element technology (FET). By utilizing the finite element software Abaqus, we constructed a finite element model and obtained visualization resources in the form of colored Mises stress nephograms through simulation technology. These digital resources were seamlessly integrated into the existing curriculum, and teaching experiments were conducted in multiple classes at a vocational college to assess their feasibility and scientific rigor. The findings revealed that the implementation of FET-based digital resources, including the colored stress nephograms, positively influenced student learning and motivation. Students reported that these resources were instrumental in comprehending experimental content and related formulas. Furthermore, the teaching experiments significantly enhanced the overall quality of instruction at the vocational college. Statistical analysis of the teaching survey data demonstrated that over 90% of students recommended the adoption of innovative technologies like FET in future classroom teaching. The high Cronbach's coefficient alpha value of the questionnaire further enhanced the reliability and internal consistency of the obtained data. This paper provides valuable insights into the application of FET in vocational education and serves as a foundation for future research in this field.
