This separation necessitated the integration of people from the same religion but from different cultures into their new places. After the Lausanne Exchange, the Pontiacs of the Black Sea settled in various parts of Greece and carried the tradition of dancing horon with them. A similar example is seen in the Balkan Turks who carried their dance tradition to the Black Sea where they settled. This research uses methods of short-term participant observation and literature reviews made in Turkey and Greece to investigate the variables that influence the selection of the places and contexts where the horon is performed in the two countries.

It Also looks at the use of these recordings in dance education and how they are prepared. The place of visual material has been enhanced by the advances in technology. While this change is criticized for changing the social structure and causing alienation from traditions; its considerable contribution into the revival of dances that have sunk into oblivion cannot be ignored. Ethnographic images can serve as resources for unique ideas concerning the stage and arts. However, since it is the people themselves who hold the intellectual property of the organizations that they belong to and are open to public; it brings about a disputable issue. This study questions the possible type of intellectual property in ethnographic dance recordings. In addition, is explains the application of the existing copyright laws for dance education in Turkey. Considering the advances in technology and the era of computers, the "QR code" system is discussed which helps both transferring the dance and providing copyrights in written dance studies.
