Grain Size
editPhi is a symbol used when describing grain size in sedimentology. Wentworth and Krumbian scales both use φ to describe the size of individual sediment particles.
This should be added to the list of scientific measurements that utilize phi.

alternate symbol
editthe first line "lowercase φ or ϕ" shows two identical symbols on my computer and it's not clear how they are distinguished. i'm not sure how you could guarantee that both different symbols are shown.
Unsourced prononciation
edit- Ancient Greek: ϕεῖ pheî [pʰéî̯]; Modern Greek: φι fi [fi]
Is there a reference for the prononciation in Ancient and in Modern Greek that could be added? 162.23.30.27 (talk) 23:16, 22 September 2024 (UTC)
