Etymology 2
editUnclear. Several possibilities have been suggested, including derivation from Romani [Term?] and derivation from Hebrew קוֹל (qōl, “voice”). But compare western German Kappes (“cabbage, nonsense”), though the second meaning might also be a loan translation of Kohl.
