[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia. The recent edit that you made to the page List of PlayStation 1 games has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Please use the sandbox for testing any edits; if you believe the edit was constructive, please ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing for further information. Thank you. Boomshadow talk contribs 04:36, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
- http://hg101.classicgaming.gamespy.com no longer works. The good one now is http://www.hardcoregaming101.net so I think it was necessary to change a dead link by the correct one. In fact every site hosted in classicgaming.gamespy.com has disappeared or changed its url (as in this case). I changed also the name ref from gamespy1 to hg101 to make it more meaningful as gamespy is not the host yet. This said, I reverted your reversion. I hope that does not bother you :) . Thank you.--Canyq (talk) 05:17, 5 February 2010 (UTC)
Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
[edit]Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being 'minor'. The only thing that's changed is that you will no longer have them marked as minor by default.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. If you are familiar with the contents of WP:MINOR, and believe that it is still beneficial to the encyclopedia to have all your edits marked as such by default, then this discussion will give you the details you need to continue with this functionality indefinitely. If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:47, 14 March 2011 (UTC)

redirects
[edit]Some advice: we do not remove redirects from other capitalizations. Although our search function and Google will detect alternate forms, links from elsewhere will generally not do so. There's a template used to indicate the situation, to be placed on the redirect page: {{R from other capitalisation}} --see Wikipedia:Template messages/Redirect pages for the various templates in similar situations. Wikipedia Help Survey
[edit]Hi there, my name's Peter Coombe and I'm a Wikimedia Community Fellow working on a project to improve Wikipedia's help system. At the moment I'm trying to learn more about how people use and find the current help pages. If you could help by filling out this brief survey about your experiences, I'd be very grateful. It should take less than 10 minutes, and your responses will not be tied to your username in any way.
Thank you for your time,

Wai Wai World 2: SOS! Parsley Jō
[edit]I can understand why you reverted the page. The reason for me moving it was that in the article List of Castlevania media there was some error with this game, the name of this game was being displayed out of the box. It took me half an hour to find that this problem was caused by the symbol "!!" since it is some command on Wikipedia like the brackets which redirect you to an article. For eg., if you put List of Castlevania media in brackets it will redirect you to an article. However what does !! do I do not know. Try editing Wai Wai world 2 in List of Castlevania media by putting one more ! with SOS! and you'll understand what I'm saying. However Ithere is another solution we can redirect the the new name of the article ie., the one that I've moved it to to the original name of the article since I'm not much on Wikipedia these days because of my college studies. Feel free to do it. I won't mind. Also if you can please report this error to somebody since I don't know the procedure. Thank you. KahnJohn27 (talk) 06:28, 26 December 2012 (UTC)
Vandalism
[edit]Hey the article list of most expensive films was recently vandalised by an ip adress. I think it would be better if it semi-locked in order to prevent further vandalim. I don't know how to do that so please help me. Thank you. KahnJohn27 (talk) 10:20, 27 January 2013 (UTC)
Mega Man 8
[edit]Hey, sorry about the misunderstanding for the release date for Mega Man 8. I had the wrong url within the fields inside the reference. Apparently, the press release was within a frame in that buzzbin section on Capcom's old website. I've corrected the address and re-added the release date as January 1997. ~ Hibana (talk) 02:40, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
PES 2014 PS2
[edit]Why have you removed the link for PES 2104 on Playstation 2? It is coming out on PS2, the link I posted proved it. I'am going to reinstate it wherever you like it or not. Benriggers (talk) 21:55, 18th September 2013 (UTC)
- "You like it or not"? Why shouldn't I like it? I just looked for a reference without success so I removed the info about PS2 provisionally while asking politely for a source. As you've found it, it seems I was wrong. I'm sorry about it and I'm sorry to bother you, but it was a good faith edit.--Canyq (talk) 01:36, 19 September 2013 (UTC)
- I apologise if I was rude. Benriggers (talk) 23:16 19th September 2013 (UTC)
- Don't worry, after all you did a good work finding a valuable reference. I looked in Google using several strings and wasn't able to find anything. It seems I should have searched deeper but I'm monitoring a nice number of articles and can't spend too much time checking each dubious info. If I can't find anything and the statement is about popular subject, I assume the info is probably false and so, I revert it while carefully leaving a suitable edit summary. However, sometimes the info happens to be true (like in this case) and then, there can't be no one more upset than myself. Nevertheless, I've come to the conclusion that, as Wikipedia is the best place to spread hoaxes, in case an unreferenced info can't be verified it's better to revert it while asking for a reference. Have a nice day.--Canyq (talk) 15:30, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

Amygdaloideae
[edit]Hi, just wanted to mention that some pages where you have added much better footnotes for the subfamily name must have been missed in an earlier effort to remove subfamily names from species pages (leaving them on genus pages), which was done in order to facilitate maintenance. It was nice to see what you were doing, though! Best wishes, Sminthopsis84 (talk) 21:07, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, I fixed it according to your instructions. By the way I proposed here the deletion of Category:Maloideae, just in case you want to give your opinion. Also, I think Template:Taxonomy/Spiraeoideae should be deleted, but since taxoboxes have been automated I don't know what's the correct procedure. Thank you for your advice. --Canyq (talk) 21:21, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
- It seems simplest to just delete them from species boxes; there used to be hundreds of them, and presumably those deletions have saved some maintenance effort as subfamily assignments were changed. Of course, if there is only one species in a genus, by WP:FLORA there is no genus page, so the subfamily would be a useful component of the species page. Thanks for the pointers to those proposals, I'll take a look. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 21:30, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
- Deleting the template is beyond my expertise, but I'll ask for advice at WT:PLANTS. Sminthopsis84 (talk) 21:41, 29 November 2013 (UTC)
- Ok, again, thank you very much! --Canyq (talk) 21:44, 29 November 2013 (UTC)

[edit]Hello! You're invited to express your views about this topic on the discussion topic. Jotamide (talk) 05:46, 25 April 2015 (UTC)
- Hi, Jotamide. Thank you for your invitation, but I am afraid at this moment I am rather busy and, therefore, my work on Wikipedia is not as intense as it used to be. In addition, I spend most of the little time I have on reviewing and fixing contributions from certain anonymous IPs to video game related articles, specially on Spanish Wikipedia. Anyway, I take note of your project and list of sources. Have a nice day! --Canyq (talk) 22:44, 25 April 2015 (UTC)

Image no longer needed!
[edit]Hey Canyq,
Thanks for fixing Talk Pages incorrectly including "image-needed". Much appreciated. There are already too many of them. Gderrin (talk) 23:49, 3 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Gderrin: No problem! I think it is distracting to have a request of images in thousands of articles which already have one. There were almost 5000 listed in https://imagechecker.toolforge.org/index.php?lang=en&category=Wikipedia+requested+images+of+plants and now I have some spare time... :-) Canyq (talk) 00:13, 4 January 2023 (UTC)
Thank you for working on this. The requested images of plants category isn't very useful when it's full of articles that already have images. I had done some work on this last year going reverse alphabetically (Z through U). You're showing good judgement in leaving the needs-image tag in place when the only image is of very low quality, as at Cirsium wrightii and Carex meyeriana.
Note that images used in stub templates make articles show up in the Image Checker tool. You should add any images used in stub templates to the black list; there is a link to the black list in main Image Checker page. I've just added a bunch of images to the black list. I've found a few more that I have left off the black list for now; I wanted to give you the opportunity to experience adding to the black list (that i, if you'd like to; if not, I'll add them in a day or so). Rubus conanicutensis has no image of the species, but does have {{Rubus-stub}} which calls the image "AD2009Aug13 Rubus 01.jpg" (just enter the name of the image without the quotation marks in the black list). Quercus cualensis has {{Quercus-stub}}, which calls the image "Quercus robur.jpg". Plantdrew (talk) 17:55, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
- @Plantdrew: Thank you very much for your acknowledgement and support!
- Regarding the blacklisting and stub template images, I was aware of this, but I held back from adding new stub template images because I was afraid that, by adding such images, Image Checker Tool might
show false positives inomit articles where stub template images are used at full size outside of those templates. However, after your suggestion, I have thought about it again and it is preferable that an image might result in one or two falsepositivesnegatives under Image Checker Tool, rather than produce dozens of false positives because it is inside a stub template. - So I'm going to do as you say and add to the blacklist all the stub template images that generate all those false positives in Image Checker Tool. Thank you very much for your suggestion! --Canyq (talk) 23:16, 6 January 2023 (UTC)
