  1. (architecture) fascia, frieze (wide band of material covering the ends of roof rafters, sometimes supporting a gutter in steep-slope roofing, but typically it is a border or trim in low-slope roofing)
    Synonym: wiatrówka
  2. (construction) wind girder (truss built of thick steel beams, stiffening the bridge structure and protecting it from strong wind gusts)
  3. (rail transport) smoke deflector (device fitted to either side or on top of the smokebox of some steam locomotives, the purpose of which was to lift smoke clear of the locomotive at speed, so it wouldn't obscure the driver's vision)
  4. windchest (chest or reservoir of wind in an organ)
