meso

Pronunciation
[edit]Adjective
[edit]meso (not comparable)
- (chemistry, dated, proscribed) Of a tactic diad, having structural units in identical orientation.
Usage notes
[edit]As the adjectives "racemic" and "nonracemic" apply to whole molecules, not structural units, the coordinate term "racemo" was considered misleadingly imprecise, and "racemo" and "meso" were formally proscribed in 2019; modern usage is to write just "m", formerly an abbreviation for "meso".
