Adjective agreement
In French, adjectives agree in gender and number with the nouns they describe.
To make most adjectives feminine, add –e. To make most adjectives plural, add
–s.
Some adjectives do not follow this pattern. Look at the feminine forms of the
adjectives below.
adjectives that end in –s: gros grosse
Other adjectives that have irregular feminine forms: blanc (blanche), bon (bonne),
gentil (gentille), long (longue), mignon (mignonne).
Most French adjectives follow the noun. Some adjectives that come before the
noun are: bon, gentil, grand, jeune, and petit.
Des changes to de when used with an adjective that comes before the noun.

1. Michèle n’est pas (gros / grosse / grosses)! Elle est
(rousses / roux / rousse) et (mince / minces).
2. André est (sportifs / sportive / sportif) et (sérieuses / sérieux

3. Émilie et Barbara sont (mignons / mignonnes / mignonne)
et (brune / bruns / brunes).
4. Karim et David sont (grands / grandes / grand) et
(marrante / marrants / marrantes).
-re verbs
There is a group of regular verbs that end in -re. Here are the
forms of one of those verbs, attendre (to wait).
Other verbs that end in -re: entendre (to hear), perdre (to lose), rendre (to
return [something to someone]), répondre (à) (to answer), and vendre (to
sell).
