ABSTRACT In Service Engineering a formalized process model gives the advantage that its complexity is reduced due to abstraction and could simplify the communication by specialists e.g. business process analysts, IT specialists. At some point a more intuitively and tangible depiction of a service situation is needed. This is the case if people that maybe not as versed on the theoretical side e.g. customers, employees, decision-makers are involved in the creation or evaluation of the process. Therefore we have developed a visualization toolset for the use with a ServCAD system. This toolset enables the user to visualize relevant parts of the process model as an interactive 3D Scene. Changes are consistent on the data model and each change on the 2D BPM view or in the 3D process scene is stored and presented simultaneous.

This paper describes a method for the design of telecommunication services. The method is aimed specifically at Integrated Broadband Communications (IBC) services, and describes two perspectives to the design of applications: the external perspective and the internal perspective. An external perspective is one that enables the whole application to be viewed for the purposes of the design of communication support. An internal perspective is one that enables consideration of only part of the application from the point of view of a human communicating entity. The use of the method is illustrated with respect to a tourism application.

Research software has become a central asset in academic research. It optimizes existing and enables new research methods, implements and embeds research knowledge, and constitutes an essential research product in itself. Research software must be sustainable in order to understand, replicate, reproduce, and build upon existing research or conduct new research effectively. In other words, software must be available, discoverable, usable, and adaptable to new needs, both now and in the future. Research software therefore requires an environment that supports sustainability. Hence, a change is needed in the way research software development and maintenance are currently motivated, incentivized, funded, structurally and infrastructurally supported, and legally treated. Failing to do so will threaten the quality and validity of research. In this paper, we identify challenges for research software sustainability in Germany and beyond, in terms of motivation, selection, research software ...

This paper concerns the needs of users of telecommunication services. In particular, it concerns human users accessing telecommunication services via terminals, to realise their goals, such as co-operative distributed working, or interpersonal communication. A design method is described which incorporates design principles, and which aims to improve end-user service integration. A case history in the design of a cooperative multimedia multiauthor document production system is given.

End-users of broadband communication systems will face ease of use problems in integrating the various services that will be provided. This paper discusses the development of principles for designers which it is claimed might contribute to solutions to these problems. The paper describes the advantages of these principles over similar extant Human Factors advice both with respect to their scope and their application by designers. A case study illustrates the use of the principles in the design of a prototype multimedia multiuser ...

Objectives Our work presents an approach to the realization of personalized adaptation according to the individual user's traits, such as: personality factors, cognitive factors, learning styles, and personality types (stereotypes), on one side, and user's devices on which the training is executed, on the other side. In the same time, we are interested in how to manage teaching resources when the e-Learners have different emotions, perceptions, reactions.
