— This paper presents an overview of ocean energy technology as a source of renewable energy. It investigates ocean energy resources and new technologies under development to capture that energy. Ocean energy (also referred as Marine Energy) refers to the energy carried by ocean waves, Tides, temperature difference & salinity. Ocean energy has the potential to play a significant role in the future energy system, whilst contributing to the reduction of carbon emissions and stimulating economic growth in coastal and remote areas where there is a scarce of electricity and cost of transmission of electricity is very high. Ocean energy has attracted increasing interest, particularly in India because India has long sea shore. A number of policy initiatives and mechanisms have been put in place to ensure that ocean energy technologies could become cost-competitive in the short term, in order to exploit the benefits that these technologies to India.

A B S T R A C T : Laser cutting is a two-dimensional machining process in which material removal is obtained by focusing a highly intense laser beam on the work piece. It has wide application in sheet cutting for intricate shapes. In this paper parametric analysis for SS-316 material is carried out using Taguchi design of experiment method. Experiments are carried out using L27 Orthogonal array by varying four parameters with 3-level. S/N ratio calculated for surface roughness. Parametric analysis shows that response order for SS-316 material is as Cutting speed, Laser Power, Gas pressure and Frequency. Selection for process parameter plays important role for surface finish.

Due to the increasing demand for fossil fuels and environmental threat, a number of renewable sources of energy have been studied worldwide. An attempt is made to assess the suitability of vegetable oil for diesel engine operation, without any modifications in its existing construction. One of the important factors which influence the performance and emission of diesel engine is fuel injection pressure. The main objective of this study is to investigate the effect of Karanja Biodiesel blended with diesel and investigating performance and emissions characteristics of the engine. By changing the various parameters like Load, Blending Ratio, various performance and emission characteristics will be measured. Non edible Karanja (Pongamia Pinata) biodiesel blended with diesel were tested for their use as substitute fuels for diesel engines. One of the major objectives of the present study was to experimentally access the practical applications of diesel & karanja biodiesel blend in single cylinder diesel engine used in generating sets, road transport vehicle, and three cylinder diesel engines used for agricultural applications in India.

In this research work, the surface micro structure of piston rings is changed by Laser Surface Texturing method, in order to change lubrication regime of surface, and wear resistant. Piston Ring with line cross hatch marking Fully Textured and the friction data will be compared to base data say Un-textured Piston Rings. Average percentage of Reduction in Friction power is 10.52 % by using Laser surface texturing piston ring. Lubricant film in an internal combustion engine (I.C. Engine) is an important factor in determining friction power, fuel economy and performance of the vehicle.

Fuel consumption is an extremely important parameter for the automotive industry today. In engines the piston system is the largest source of frictional losses, accounting for about 30% of the total frictional losses, thus it is important to optimize. The lost caused by friction and wear is huge. There is about 30% power of automobile engine lost because of friction, 19% of the power loss is come from the piston ring-cylinder liner pair. This important pair of engine often damaged because of wear. Lubricant film in an internal combustion engine (I.C. Engine) is an important factor in determining fuel economy and performance of the vehicle.

In recent years, energy analysis method has been widely used in the design, simulation and performance assessment of various types of engines for identifying losses and efficiency. In this study, the first and second laws of thermodynamics are employed to analyze the quantity and quality of energy in a single-cylinder, direct injection diesel engine using petroleum diesel oil and biogas as fuel. The experimental data studied by various investigators using steady-state tests which enable accurate measurements of air, fuel, engine load, and all the relevant temperatures. Balances of energy and exergy rates for the engine were determined and then various performance parameters and energy and exergy efficiencies were calculated for diesel oil and diesel-biogas dual fuel. The results of tested diesel-biogas dual fuel offer similar energetic performance as petroleum diesel fuel. In addition to this, the exergetic performance parameters usually follow similar trends according to the energetic performance parameters.

Due to the increasing demand for fossil fuels and environmental threat, a number of renewable sources of energy have been studied worldwide. An attempt is made to assess the suitability of vegetable oil for diesel engine operation, without any modifications in its existing construction. Biodiesel was prepared from the non-edible oil of Karanja by transesterification of the crude oil with methanol in the presence of NaOH as catalyst.

Due to the increasing demand for fossil fuels and environmental threat, a number of renewable sources of energy have been studied worldwide. An attempt is made to assess the suitability of vegetable oil for diesel engine operation, without any modifications in its existing construction. The injection pressure was changed by adjusting the fuel injector spring tension. By changing the various parameters like Load, Blending Ratio, Injection Pressure various performance and emission characteristics will be measured. Non edible Karanja (Pongamia Pinata) biodiesel blended with diesel were tested for their use as substitute fuels for diesel engines. One of the major objectives of the present study was to experimentally access the practical applications of diesel & karanja biodiesel blend in single cylinder diesel engine used in generating sets, road transport vehicle, and three cylinder diesel engines used for agricultural applications in India and the effect of variable injection pressure of blend of diesel and karanja oil on performance, emission and combustion tests at varying loads.
