Many elementary students face difficulties in solving word-based, mathematical problems. This study explores using the reciprocal teaching instructional strategy for word-based, mathematical problems at the elementary level. We used a quasiexperimental research design for this study to address the reciprocal teaching environment design, implementation, and evaluation at elementary level mathematics education. Two sixth grade model classes, A & B, of a public secondary school from the district of Okara, Punjab, Pakistan, were selected for this study. Reciprocal teaching for mathematics appears to be an essential strategy for nurturing a more in-depth understanding of the text of mathematical word problems at the elementary level. This instructional approach could enhance an extraordinary level of skill in critical thinking, reasoning, and understanding.

Due to the importance and special nature of kindergarten stage on children’s cognitive, social, emotional and psychological growth, this study aimed at identifying the main teaching competencies required for kindergarten teachers in China. To achieve this objective, an observation card was applied on a group of 41 teachers from different kindergartens. The findings of the study suggested, firstly, that the levels of teaching competencies might be divided into five levels. This classification might be attributed to the variables of the study; namely, specialization, qualification and teaching years of experience. Secondly, the findings also revealed that, on the one hand, there were statistically significant differences according to the variable of specialization and the years of experience. On the other hand, no significant differences were found due to the variable of academic qualification. On the basis of these findings, a group of recommendations were put forward.

The importance of reflective thinking among teachers has long been recognized, and it remains a crucial indicator of learning and ensures teachers’ professional development. This study’s aim is to understand a teacher education program’s impact on the reflective thinking of preservice teachers in Pakistan. Utilizing a mixed-method approach, 400 teacher education candidates participated in the quantitative analysis, which involved a follow-up that included 10 semi-structured interviews by teacher education candidates. The results showed that teacher education in Pakistan is characterized by the production of more graduates but lacks the focus to develop and generate reflective practitioners in the field. This research contributes to our understanding about the importance of reflective thinking in terms of how it can improve preservice teachers’ thinking patterns and nurture teacher education. Furthermore, this study suggests that teacher-training institutions should focus on improvin...

Background/Objectives: Learning environment plays a crucial role in stu-dents' academic achievements. To understand this relationship, the study explores the perceptions of international science students in degree programs. Methods/Statistical analysis: This study used a mixed-method research design. Five interviews were conducted to explore and confirm the quantitative findings. Dundee Ready Educational Environment Measure (DREEM) questionnaire was used to collect quantitative data from a sample size of 71 participants in three faculties, including life sciences, chemistry, and physics. Qualitative data were collected through semi-structured interviews. Cronbach's alpha, Mean, standard deviation, ANOVA, and thematic analysis were conducted to analyze the data. Findings: The overall mean score of the DREEM was 142.49/200, indicating that international science students held positive perceptions of their learning environment. However, interviews explored the problematic areas, such as lack of a support system for students who got stressed, ori-entations about degree programs do not provide information for the next steps during the programs. Labs are well-equipped; however, all labels and instructions inside labs are in the Chinese language. Conclusion: There is a need for a student support system to enhance the learning environment. Well-planned orientation should be conducted at the start and mid of the programs to facilitate students' learning environment.

With the rapid development of the global economy and science and technology, STEM education has become an important strategy and approach for the cultivation of scientific and technological innovation talents and the reform of education and teaching in various countries worldwide. This study provides an overview of previous STEM education research studies carried out in Pakistan to clarify the current condition in STEM education in Pakistan. A qualitative research method was used to conduct this study, and 13 previous studies were selected (2008-2020) as the sample. Results indicate that STEM education practices by private sectors are visible more than the public sector. Moreover, it was found that there is a lack of laboratories, equipment, and other resources needed to teach STEM education. In essence, Pakistan's STEM education system is not adequately prepared and centered. There is an exclusive involvement needed by the government to support the efforts of all stakeholders, including the public and private. This study provides some suggestions for future research. Researchers need to design such a function that allows stakeholders to acquire necessary competencies relevant to STEM disciplines. Pakistan will have to overcome many challenges to achieve its goals before producing the STEM experts it needs effectively.

This article presents an analysis of some previous studies around education in Pakistan regarding Science Teacher education and aimed to explain the reality of the ST education situation in Pakistan. The study deemed view paper in different stages of education in Pakistan. The current study was processed by a qualitative method based on previous studies and researchers' reading as a historical study. Study outcomes were reported as follows: first, ST education practices by diploma stage better than others. Therefore, there is a lack of experience for preparing science teacher education, and other resources needed to teach science. Second, the Science Teacher education system in Pakistan is not enough and most studies indicate an exclusive involvement and need for supportive efforts by the Ministry of Education and improve it. Third, there are needed to encourage the researchers to examine other variables and attributions in ST education and how they can face the challenges in this field. Several aspects of ST education have been recommended.

The choice of the most appropriate method for learning and teaching any foreign language is of vital importance. This study aims to investigate student teachers' achievements in English language learning. A quasi-experimental research design was used to compare and identify the effective English language teaching method in a distance teacher education program at the university level in Pakistan. Moreover, semi-structured interviews were conducted to follow up on the experimental findings and enlighten the distance tutors' English language teaching practices. A sample of sixty student teachers enrolled in the B.Ed. Program of Allama Iqbal Open University Pakistan was randomly selected and divided into a control group (CG) and experimental group (EG). Furthermore, eleven distance tutors were also interviewed. Pre-test and post-test were used in both groups. Findings revealed that the grammar-translation method (GTM) is not encouraged for English language teaching; however, it is still in practice at the university level in Pakistan. Moreover, tutors reflected that the English language syllabus could be modified to meet modern needs. Furthermore, communication on the part of the learners also needs to be addressed. The examination system should not focus only on writing skills, but also on evaluating all language skills, including reading, speaking, and listening.
