In the interview, Ingold explains, with reference, amongst others, to the example of the interaction of musician, instrument and surroundings, how such interactions are formed and which role concepts such as correspondence, resonance and obsession play in this context. He argues for a way of thinking that is relevant for a media ecology, because it overcomes the powerful habitual demarcation between craftsmanship and scholarship.

The Last Things before the Last entwirft Siegfried Kracauer die Idee eines „Vorraums“ sowohl geschichtlicher als auch fotografisch-filmischer Wirklichkeit.

Adopting Derrida’s notions of a hauntology and a spectrology it argues for a genuine productivity of cinematic space that is able to build ghostly environments without incorporating an actual specter. This productivity is described as ‘making appear’ and ‘making act’. Furthermore, the paper explains how, in the era of silent cinema, cinematic techniques were used to create scenes of haunting.

They correspond to images of movement that are permanently in transition. These images unfold themselves into a space that arbitrarily opens itself and find expression in a panning film camera. The following considerations take as starting point a series of photographs by John Baldessari and prove such a conception of movement-image by analyzing two films of Chantal Akerman. In doing so they mainly focus on the tactile and affective qualities of these films.

According to the philosopher Immanuel Kant distraction has become a necessity and even an art of living regarding the body’s need for regeneration. Life sciences have investigated how a balance between work and leisure, stress and relaxation is to be reached. The article reconstructs a genealogy of distraction, focuses on its importance especially for what Michel Foucault has called taking care of oneself, and by this way shows how distraction has become normalized.
