This function has become more important in dry port management in landlocked countries. Ethiopia is one of the landlocked countries use dry ports to mitigate related challenges. Modjo dry port is one of the largest and currently more than 95% of freights flow and first dry port. The flows of unstuffed containers in terminal increase the influences the warehouse operation, the existing dedicated volume of warehouse becomes beyond the dedicated capacity of the warehouse. The layout of the warehouse is not standardized for the flow of freight inside the warehouse. Therefore, the study intends to propose the modified scenarios for the existing warehouse layouts for the reduction of congestion from the warehouse and this, in turn, reduces congestion from the terminal of the dry port. The primary and secondary data were collected to accomplish the study. The primary data were collected by field observation, field survey and secondary data was collected by documented data of dry port. Using analytical hierarchical procedure the Modjo dry port should have to use the layout IV, II, I and III those have the composite weight of 31.63%, 29.199 %, 26.997 %, and 12.17% respectively as well as AHP factors like suitability for travel, store space, proximity to inspection area, and accessibility for forklift scores 7.93%, 51.47%, 5.41%, and 35.19% of priority vector respectively for the selection of alternative layouts. Therefore, Modjo dry port and terminal should have to use pallet racks as per the alternative layout proposed.

The integration of IT with logistics management is becoming a prerequisite for good logistic management hence the development of E-logistics. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of E-logistics on logistics performance in order to improve automotive service industry by taking up this technology. The problems have been observed in automotive service was traditional way of service, longer lead times and low customer service level, which highly affects the customer; results major economic impact on the company. So these existing problems can be rectified by using E-logistics that can serve to increase integration of operation and customer service level. In order to meet the key objectives of the research, qualitative and quantitative methods and combination of primary and secondary sources of data have been used. Primary data was collected using observation, interview and questionnaires. A majority of the respondents were being selected from the departments who were directly involved in administering of E-logistics within the company. After the fieldwork, the data was coded and tabulated by use of tables and charts. Data analysis was done using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS version 25.0). The results provided support for the conceptual frame work, the E-logistics has a positive influence on theperformance of the company and adopt it in order to be morecompetitive in the service business.

The supply chain integration within processes and between organizations has enhanced value creation. However, the fragmented nature of the business in developing country demonstrates a noticeable difficulty in terms of competitiveness and efficiency. Lack of a relevant literature on practical experience in supply chain integration in developing countries is one of the challenges. The purpose of this research is to identify the level of interorganizational and intraorganizational supply chain integration practices. It also analyzes the challenges faced in the manufacturing firms in developing countries. The methodology followed a thorough review of literature and semistructured interviews amongst the Ethiopian manufacturing industries. The preliminary findings of the study highlight that prevailing approach to supply chain integration is limited to ad hoc functional based boundaries within the firm. The SC integration enablers are also restricted to the traditional way of communications such as telephone, fax, and letters. Firms need to focus on those issues that require attention in pursuance of greater SC integration.

Industry practitioners and academics are focusing on developing a modelling tool for this purpose. However, such efforts were unsuccessful. The main reasons for failure are that the existing models are developed and tested based on the experiences of manufacturing firms in the developed world. The nature of the existing firms, their operating and business processes situation in developing countries vary greatly from the manufacturing processes and the surrounding environment in developed countries. However, the absence of an agreed upon, common language and standardised modelling tools for the entire supply chains hampers the global supply chain improvement initiatives. This paper focuses on addressing the issue of a how standardised and widely accepted model, like the SCOR, can be applied despite the different circumstances. The firms’ supply chain characteristics and new requirement for the model adaptation were collected based on the available literature and field analysis results. The research paper results focus on the make and delivery processes for illustration and evaluation.

The leather and leather products industry is a significant part of the developing countries economy. Even though, the sector contributes a considerable amount of income, the sector has a lot of challenges that can be improved to increase value for the firms. The application of the model is gaining importance in the current literature. The application of this model can able to describe the business processes for the better understanding the supply chain members. In this paper, the adapted SCOR model is applied to the leather industry to find processes with higher pains to further improve Ethiopian leather industry. Semi-structured interview and industrial visits have employed as research method. The case study has demonstrated how developing countries can benefits by using the SCOR.

These create opportunities for the development of different models for supply chain modeling and improvement activities. SCOR model is one of those which consider nowadays as quasi-industrial standard. At the moment, developing countries have realized the benefits and shown an interest for its application. However, supply chains in developing countries are typically long and frag-mented, involving different actors in their production activities. The successful model in the developed nations scenarios may face different challenges in devel-oping countries which do not encountered there. There is, therefore, need to ex-amine the supply chain characteristics of manufacturing industry in the developing countries. A questionnaires survey and semi-structured interview questions were used to collect the current practices based on the SCOR. Based on the survey results analysis, we have indentified the supply chain characteristics. This paper presents the results of the changes related to the Deliver and Source processes. Future work will consider the adaptation of the model with its building blocks.

SCOR model is designated to measure supply chain performance and logistics impact across the boundaries of individual organizations. It is at its growing stage of its life cycle andis enjoying the leverage of becoming the industry standard. The SCOR model has been developed and used widely in developed countries context. This research focuses on the SCOR model adaptation for the manufacturing industry in developing countries. With a necessary understanding of the characteristics, difficulties and problems of the manufacturing industry in developing countries’ supply chain; consequently, we will try to designs an adapted model with its building blocks: business process model, performance measures and best practices.
