Networks in biology are widely studied to understand biological patterns and significance. The studies are more significant for various disease diagnosis and treatments obtained from biomedical data. We are interested in exploring consensus methods to improve the accuracy of outcomes for data mining, e.g., community detection. In our doctoral study, we look at the novel applications of consensus methods in two different case studies. In the first study, we use consensus methods for community detection in resting-state brain functional connectivity network obtained from functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) data. In the second problem, we use consensus methods in aggregating different regression models for constructing networks in the gene association study. Here, the outcome is a network between DNA methylation features and mRNA genes, derived from samples in cancer patients.

Data is data which do not encode spatial references explicitly. In information visualization, abstract datasets have different attributes or variables which are used to visualize them. The dimensions of data are equal to the number of variables they have. As shown in Figure 1.1, abstract data may fall into one of the following categories [17]: • One dimensional data It has one dimensional data such as temporal data. An example is time series of stock prices • Two dimensional data It has two distinct dimensions. Scatter plot is an example of a two dimensional visualization techniques • Multi-dimensional data Data sets consists of more than three attributes. Relational data-bases are an example of multidimensional data. Parallel coordinate system is one of the multi-dimensional visualization techniques used for multi-dimensional data • Text and Hypertext These data types are not in a number form. Therefore, Standard visualization techniques cannot be used. To visualize them, they are ...

Summary form only given, as follows. A complete record of the workshop discussion was not made available for publication as part of the conference proceedings. Computing has become a ubiquitous influence in current times and is set to have an ever-increasing presence in the coming years. This will have a huge impact on the kind of technology that is going to be available to the layman. Given the young population, an emerging economy like India has, it is important that they are aware of the various technological advances that are being done, the huge amount of computing power that is available now and the means to leverage the two to resolve significant social issues that exist in the country. The goal of the "Women in Computing" event is to provide a platform for technology enthusiasts who are using compute power to design and invent solutions to problems pertaining to social good, and for women technologists, both current and prospective, to participate, present their work and popularize opportunities, challenges, and solutions, in the realm of responsible use of computing. The participants will have the opportunity to interact with experts in HPC and Data Science, leverage their expertise and form collaborations.
