Determining the progression of the disease is a useful tool which will help in the planning of the exercise programme to slow or halt the disease progression. Measuring the joint space width of the tibiofemoral joint is one of the best options for knowing the disease progression and helps in designing an exercise programme. Aim: Retrospective measurement of joint space width in patients with bilateral tibiofemoral osteoarthritis of the knee joint. Methodology: Data was retrieved from the picture archiving and communication system (PACS) from 1st of February to 22nd of June 2018. Radiographs that were showing OA knee features by using Kellegren Lawrence (KL) grading system were considered and the joint space between the tibial and femoral compartment was measured. Result: The joint space width showed more reduction in the medial compartment of th...

There are very few RCTs done to assess functional improvement after TKA. Hence, this study was undertaken to find out evidence on physiotherapy treatment in TKA and analyze it. Methods: We searched Medline, CINAHL, PEDro from the year 2001 to 2015 for RCT involving evaluations of physiotherapy exercise in adults with a knee replacement. Search criteria’s were pain, stiffness, adherence and attrition. The inclusion criteria were studies which included physiotherapy exercise for balance specific exercises which compared various functional training and functional training with balance exercise in TKA. Result: Searches identified 20 randomized trials related to TKA and physiotherapy. Only three were fulfilled the inclusion criteria. Functional training with balance exercises found to be effective in patients with total knee arthroplas...

Muscle tightness is caused by a decrease in the ability of the muscle to deform. Hamstring tightness leads to high risk of recurrent injury, decreases the performance in athletes, lead to post-exercise soreness and decreases coordination among athletes. Hence, the objectives of this study was to find out the prevalence and severity of the hamstring tightness among college going student. Method: In this cross sectional study 50 participants with hamstring tightness were included using purposive sampling. The tightness was measured by AKE test. Three measurement were taken and average of their reading was noted. Result: Analysis showed higher prevalence of hamstring tightness among college students. More students were affected with AKE angle between 30o-45o. Conclusion: Prevalence of hamstring tightness is very high in college going student of age group 18-25 years. Keywords: Prevalence; Active knee extension test; Hamstring Tightness severity.

Hence early diagnosis and prognosis is essential for leading healthy life. Lack of muscle endurance has shown to be related to decreased proprioceptive awareness and decreased productivity in the workplace and daily activity. Hence, the purpose of this study was to evaluate isometric endurance time of healthy normal population for trunk extensors and flexors. Method: In this cross-sectional study, 100 participants were randomly recruited by convenient sampling and trunk muscle endurance was assessed using trunk flexor endurance test and Sorensen’s test. Results: The results of the study revealed-mean back endurance for extensor muscles was 47.66secs and 52.82secs for males and females respectively. Similarly, for trunk endurance for trunk flexors was 52.82secs and 112.86secs for males and females respectively. Conclusion: The study concluded that trunk muscle endurance for females was more as compared to males and also, with increase in BMI there is decrease in trunk muscle endurance. KEYWORDS: Trunk endurance, BMI, Sorensen’s test, Trunk.

The objective of our study wasto find out prevalence of flat foot in a population of 18 to 25 year old physiotherapy students and to find out correlation of BMI with arch index Methodology: A cross sectional study was conducted with sampleof80 physiotherapy students fitting in inclusion criteria. Different outcome of the study that is navicular drop test, arch index, foot posture index was assessed for each subject. Result : Prevalence of flat foot in a population of 18 to 25 years old physiotherapy students was 11.25% for all subject affected with bilateral flat foot. According to theage, 18 years were having 2.5% of flat foot bilaterally, 19 years were having 3.75% flat foot bilaterally, 22 years were having 3.75 % flat foot bilaterally, 24 years were having 1.24% flat foot bilaterally. Present study was planned to check the short term effectiveness of anterior and posterior Kaltenborne joint mobilization techniques for improving shoulder external rotation range of motion in patients with shoulder adhesive capsulitis. Methodology: Total of 40 patients diagnosed with shoulder adhesive capsulitis were recruited and randomly allocated into two groups. In Group A (n= 20) subjects were treated with Therapeutic ultrasound (8mins,2w/cm2 ,3Mhz),Kalternborn anterior mobilization techniques ,Stretching exercises and strengthening exercises for roatator cuff using theratubes, whereas subjects in Group B (n= 20) received Therapeutic ultrasound (8mins,2w/cm2 ,3Mhz),Kalternborn posterior mobilization techniques ,Stretching exercises and strengthening exercises for roatator cuff ...

A cross sectional study was conducted aiming at assessment of job stress among staff nurses working in rural hospitals. 20 staff nurses were chosen by using purposive sampling technique. Results of the study show that almost half of the nurses experience moderate level of job stress. This attributed to various situations in the ward over which nurses may or may not have direct control. Hazardous situations in the wards (1.40±0.22) causes more stress among nurses compared to any other areas. Nurses are directly involved in patient care who may be seropositive, abusive or violent; these all situations are hazardous for the nurses. As they poses more threat to the nurses and are main factors in causation of stress. Dealing with death and dying (0.84±0.062) is the second most stressful area for nurses; as over the period of time nurses may develop close and intimate relationship with the patients.

The present study was conducted on 40 subjects to find out the effectiveness of Mulligan’s Mobilization with Movement (MWM) technique and conventional physiotherapy in the treatment of Chronic Lateral Epicondylitis. We found that MWM technique is more beneficial than conventional physiotherapy alone in eliminating pain of previously painful active movements and the overall improvement in the condition.
