Geographic information systems programs were used. The analysis evidenced the presence of 182 mammal species distributed in 12 orders, 34 families and 114 genera representing 46.67% of the species reported for Venezuela, being the order Chiroptera, with 90 species, the one representing the greatest richness, followed by Rodentia with 33 species; the orders Paucituberculata, Soricomorpha and Perissodactyla with one species each have the lowest representation; the foothills of the mountains of Barbacoas and Portuguesa in Lara state are the areas with the highest diversity of mammals in the basin. The way in which the richness is distributed was compared with the level of coverage and protection off ered by the areas under special administration obtaining that National Parks, Natural Monuments and Wildlife Refuges play an important protective function in contrast to the fragmentation caused by human activities and settlements.

Dicho individuo actualmente se encuentra depositado vivo en la colección del serpentario Sebastián de los Reyes de Barquisimeto, estado Lara. Este hallazgo podría ser el primer caso conocido de leucismo para esta especie en Venezuela. / In wild species with stable color pattern are rare chromatic anomalies, they are mostly due to genetic alterations and may reduce the survival rate of individuals with these conditions because they limit their ability to hunt and become vulnerable to threat of predators. In this sense its reported a live specimen of indigo snake (Drymarchon corais) from the outskirts of El Tocuyo town, Lara State, Venezuela, which has widespread leucism (white color), an live individual who is currently deposited on the collection of the Serpentarium Sebastian de los Reyes of Barquisimeto, Lara, Venezuela. This result might be the first report of leucism to Drymarchon corais for Venezuela.

The research was conducted through a compilation and organization of bibliographic information available and expert consultation. There was recorded 98 species in three orders, 23 families and 65 genera, representing 26.75% of the reptilian taxa described for Venezuela. Lara state holds 15 endemic species to Venezuela, emphasizing the presence of lizard Proctoporus cephalolineatus as the only exclusive to the entity. The results obtained show the biogeographical and ecological importance of Lara state given the richness of endemic species of reptilian that hosts.

The finding of a specimen roadkilled allows report it for the first time to north of Lara state, extending its range 82 km (airline) south of the type locality.

Similarly, was compared the distribution of the richness with human intervention in the state and the level of protection offered by Areas Under Special Administration Regime, obtained that national parks play an important role in conservation of these species.

This invasive species is mainly distributed between the cities of Barquisimeto and Cabudare, and boasts a strong dependence on the human presence to ensure its establishment in the semiarid bioregion, this link with the implementation of a management plan for eradication could ensure success for control. KEYWORDS: Achatina fulica, Giant African Snail, Lara State, invasive species.

The research was conducted in the area of influence corresponding to the bioregion called Falcon-Lara Hilly System between August 2012 and July 2014 and the main paved roads of the entity (Lara-Portuguese road, Lara-Zulia highway, Lara-Yaracuy road, Lara-Trujillo road and Quíbor-Sanare-Tocuyo highway axis) through driving by vehicle. The results showed ten (10) specimens of sideneck roadkilled (seven females, two males and a specimen that was not possible to determine the sex); all individuals were adults, two of whom were females ovate. The specimens were found in ten different locations, nine belonging to Falcon-Lara Hilly System and the other corresponding to Andes of Lara. The presence of ovate specimens suggests resilience achieved by P. vogli to extremes in the natural environment. We recommend research to corroborate the current status of the species in this semi-arid bioregion.
