Abstract
Analysis of field results from “La Cantueña” site (Fuenlabrada, Madrid) has provided information
about an early settlement in the Early Iron Age. Although structural remains are few and bad-preserved, a big number of hand-made pottery pieces has helped to suggest an early cronology for
this site, specially valuating the almost total absence of red barnis pottery (very common since mid-VIIth century in this region), the absence of iron objects and on the other side, presence of
denticulates and flint sickle blades, and finally, tipological similarities with Late Bronze pottery. The destruction stage of documented remains makes difficult to propose an interpretation for the settlement, thought its functionality could be related to a temporal ocupation in the territory.

Abstract
“El Colegio” settlement (Valdemoro, Madrid), shows a complex stratigraphic sequence starting in the Calcolithic which last until the Late Roman period. Protohistoric occupation is presented in
this article, where a group of Early Iron Age associated wood houses, buildings from the Late Iron Age and a transition phase between both were documented. This transition moment is characterised by an association of constructive elements usually related to the Late Iron Age with an Early Iron Age material culture context, showing however some wheel-made pottery fragments.
“El Colegio” provides relevant information for the study of transition mechanisms between Early and Late Iron Age periods, for territory occupation patterns at this period and for the acculturation processes valuation about Carpetan region. We propose a dispersed settlement model, based in familiar farms or small groups organisation, where demographic concentration and
increasing social and economic complexity took place in a relatively late moment.

Abstract
This article shows the field results of an Early Iron Age settlement sited in Valdemoro (Madrid), where both the structures and the presence of foreign pottery show relevant clues to the analysis
of the South Plateau iberization process. The site provides a single occupation moment with a material culture mainly related to the Early Iron Age, but where some wheel-made iberian pottery
are also documented. House structures, made of stone bases and mud brick’s walls, and a group of hearths placed at the south of the site seem to keep the same orientation, which shows the beginning of urban space organization in these period settlements.
Information provided by dates from “El Caracol” increases knowledge of a bad known period in Madrid Prehistory: the transition moment between Early and Late Iron Age, setting new analysis patterns to the different degrees of change – material, territorial, social or economic – which start to appear in this moment.

The archaelogical site of Los Palacios consists of a rural settlement from the Roman period, where we have identify the core of the productive part of a villa dedicated to winemaking. Next to different rooms belonging to the pars rustica, a torcularium has been located including a calcatorium or press space, a lacus or reception sink and a counterweight that is aimed to activate a beam and windlass press. At this site, there have been identified stages of building and refurbishment that show a long occupation in time. All the documentation and materials registered give us a chronology from the end of the 1ST century AD to early 5TH century. Los Palacios has become a site with outstanding interest, because it is the first centre of wine production at this scale that has
been found in the area of the province of Madrid.

This torcularium was part of the productive area of a Roman rural settlement dated between late first century and early fifth century AC. The building comprising the torcularium develops a prevailing model during Classical times for this sort of productive activities, thus verifying its exclusive wine use. This building comprises three consecutive rooms bounded by ashlar walls. The first room houses the mechanism which controls the operation ofthe wine press, the second one allows to identify a trodden room (calcatorium) and a pressing room; the third room contained a warehouse (lacus). Although the site has not been fully excavated, results are exceptional within Madrid’s archaeological scene because this is the first torcularium completely excavated. It is also remarkable to have found the counterweight of the beam press in original position. Besides, this counterweight was reused as a funerary element during the first century, having been inscribed on one side.

Abstract:
The archaological sites of Tinto Juan de la Cruz lie to the North of the present municipal area of Pinto, on the South bank of the Culebro stream. Site 10 is a Late-Roman villa dedicated to the exploitation of the surrounding land, whose buildings are arranged according to a functional order Ban area is dedicated to the owners durelling and another to the economic activities carried out in it-. The ruin of the villa coincided with a period of generalized destruction at the beginning of 5th century. The end of the human occupation took place in the final years of 6 th century, after the abandonment of the Visigothic necropolis.

Settlements in this area can be traced back to the prehistorical age. Site 10’ is a small High-Empire farming settlement influenced by the indigenous building techniques and patterns, yet closely related to the urban centres of the time, as both the quality and quantity of the pottery found proves.
