A virtual laboratory is an interactive environment meant for creating and conducting simulated experiments in real-time in science subjects. This study investigated Biology teachers’ self-efficacy in the use of Virtual laboratory for instructional delivery in Secondary Schools in Nigeria. The study was descriptive research using a cross-sectional survey type. The purposive random technique was used to select 261 respondents from fifteen (15) senior secondary schools in Ilorin. The researcher-designed questionnaire was developed and validated by three educational technology experts and two biology experts. The instruments were pilot-tested at Offa Grammar School; Cronbach Alpha was used to test the reliability of the instrument; the coefficient was 0.91. Three research questions were raised and answered. Two hypotheses were formulated and tested at 0.005 level of significance. Findings revealed that Biology teachers’ self-efficacy in the use of the virtual laboratory for instruction ...

This study investigated the Joint Universities Preliminary Examinations Board (JUPEB)’s candidates’ rating and assessment of the programme in Nigeria within the blueprint of quantitative paradigm of the descriptive survey research design. The participants consisted of 139 JUPEB candidates during the 2019/2020 session enrolled in three universities. Three research questions and one null hypothesis were raised to guide the study. Data collected through the Current JUPEB Candidates’ Questionnaire (Cronbach alpha coefficient of 0.87) were coded on the SPSS version 24 in which the research questions were answered using percentage and mean and the null hypothesis was tested using an independent samples t-test at 0.05 level of significance. Results showed that the current JUPEB candidates rated and assessed the JUPEB Programme in terms of quality and access and in terms of facilities and logistics for examinations respectively as satisfactory and that they would recommend the Programme to ...

In recent years, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has been growing quickly and seems to become an integral of individual life. Since the dawn of the twenty first century, technology has crept into learning and teaching environment. With the growing rate, the education framework has to be improved and ICT be coordinated into school activities. This may be the thought of the State of Osun in introducing computer into senior high schools to assist delivery of instructions. However, the effect of this introduction on students’ performance has to be considered. Therefore, this study investigated the effects of Computer Assisted Instruction (CAI) in science subjects (Biology, Chemistry and Physics) on senior school students’ academic achievement. One school in each senatorial district initially supplied with computer tablets by Osun state government before other schools were purposively selected for the study and an intact science class was randomly selected for each gro...

This paper examined the nature, structure, and scope of computer based test (CBT). Specifically, it dealt with the use of CBT for conducting General Studies’ papers usually coded as GNS with particular focus on the University of Ilorin. The mode of use, scope, coverage and the nature of assessment were discussed. In addition, the organization of the course contents in relation to the needs of the learner were explained, however only GNS 311 was sampled being the highest point of the evolutionary trend of the course structure. Finally, the problems associated with the conduct of CBT and recommendations for ease of administration and future use were highlighted.

The proliferation and utilization of handheld mobile technology among undergraduates for mobile learning cannot be underestimated. This study was geared towards investigating individual and technological factors affecting the perceived usefulness of mobile technology by undergraduates in university of Ilorin. The study was a descriptive research of the survey type. Samples were randomly drawn from all students in the 15 faculties. A total of 100 undergraduates were sampled. Two research questions, and one hypothesis was tested. Mean was used to answer the research questions; while Pearson Product Moment Correlation (PPMC) was used to test the relationship between the technological and individual factors. Findings from the study revealed that the technological and individual factors positively affected the perceived usefulness of mobile technology among undergraduates. More so, there was a positive relationship between technological and individual factors that affected perceived usef...

Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has transformed the global education system in the areas of teaching and learning to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Lecturers in College of Education (COE) are not only supposed to use ICT towards the achievement, they are to model good use of ICT for pre-service teachers. This underscores the need for investigating lecturers’ attitude towards the use of ICT in COE in Nigeria. The cross sectional survey method was adopted for the study. Respondents were 1107 lecturers (602 males and 505 females) selected from ten Colleges of Education in south-west Nigeria. A researcher–designed questionnaire, “Lecturers’ Attitude and Proficiency in ICT Use” was used for data collection. Findings of the study showed that lecturers had positive attitude towards the use of ICT, no significant difference was established between male and female lecturers in their attitude, there was significant difference between first degree holders and ...

Multi-choice Resource Centre is targeted at improving the teaching and learning processes by equipping schools with audiovisual educational equipment through which the Multi-Choice Education Bouquet can be accessed. The major problem faced by most students is inability to remember what they have learnt. This problem is often caused by too much theoretical expressions or formulae by the mathematics teachers while learners remain passive listeners. The use of technology will help reduce failure in Mathematics, but the readiness and usefulness of the technological tools made available at the Multi-Choice Resource Centre will go a long way to sustain the success rate of students in Mathematics. The study is a descriptive study of the cross-sectional survey type. Mathematics teachers from 20 schools provided with the multi-choice resource centre in Ogun State. Purposive sampling technique was used to select 35 Mathematics teachers from the schools in Ogun state that have access to the Multi-choice resource centre. The study found out that out of all the technological resources provided in the schools for teaching Mathematics, 12 major ones were available in schools. The study recommended that training should be organized for teachers to encourage and motivate them to use the technological tools since they perceived it useful.
