Studies of school metaphor are functional in analysing the relationship between imagination and education. This approach can be helpful in better understanding students’ intensions, expectations and perceptions, and due to the fact that texts which utilize this approach contain many hints in regards to the students’ position within education, it can also be used towards bettering the sustainability of education. This study utilises Harry Potter series (both written and cinematic texts) towards this end and analyses the series as a metaphor. The primary reason for choosing this series is because it was not only particular in one country or culture, but has a world-wide reputation, and is especially widely enjoyed by students who read and watched the series. One of the main reasons for Harry Potter to receive such love is thought to be the concept of the students experiencing adventures whilst studying in a fictional school. Looking at how the series is narrating the school and school life, and analyzing what it offers to its followers with a school metaphor is important in terms of the educational system as well as examining literary texts or a movie. In this study, in the light of the answers obtained by a questionnaire forms alongside the analysis of the series text, comparisons will be made between the real school and this fictional school. The results of the study will then be discussed in the conclusion part.

The coronavirus disease (COVID-19) has spread to many countries and has been causing serious repercussions as a pandemic. The use of digital technologies has increased significantly during the pandemic and they have helped transform people’s lives. In this study, COVID-19-related news disseminated by four news sites in Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) were analyzed. It was investigated whether news sites are broadcast in accordance with ethical principles. Semi-structured interviews were held with communication specialists and psychologists to identify the reasons, effects, and prevention methods of ethical violations on digital journal news. It was found that ethical principles are not completely considered owing to the expectations to increase the number of clicks and profits of the four news sites examined. The rights and freedom of the press has an interdisciplinary nature related with the media and the law. It is a well-known subject that the main stream media employees have established rights and freedom regulated through international law, documents, national constitutions and codes. Now, such regulations are accepted as valid for the alternative / new / social media employees who have not got separate regulations. This must be valid for the TRNC as well. However, here, even the regulations for the main stream media have deficiencies therefore un-ethical media coverage may appear there too. No need to say, such social media appearances, differing from the other’s ones in its fastness, not only violate the personal rights but also create more catastrophic consequences. The current work presents concrete solutions to prevent such un-ethical coverage of the social media employees and to determine the limits of the the rights and freedom of the press.

The issue of the recognition of the TRNC brings specific constraints because of the influence of the Cyprus peace talks, which have been ongoing for 50 years. After the new era started in 2014, the TRNC authorities’ efforts to reach an agreement and their struggle to make the TRNC recognized have been obstructed by barriers placed by the southern Cyprus administration. Each of the sides in the peace talks approaches each other’s demands positively or negatively. One of the other important problems is whether the decisions given by the TRNC Courts would create an effect like the court decisions given by the courts of any recognized states or not. The representation of people with disabilities in the media is an issue that is not much emphasized. This article studies the representation of people with disabilities in the internet publications, especially in Northern Cyprus. This research, tries to emphasize the way media discuss the issue of disabled people alongside to show how disabled people be presented to the public as a meta in the consumption society and to discuss the discrimination against disabled people. The research focuses on the presentation of the disability as unprotected individuals and the work carried out by the society to sympathize with the individual and in particular on the decoding of the child with disabilities while doing these activities. Media organizations have a widespread belief in their news that they are discriminatory in that they impose disabilities as 'needy' individuals. This study discusses how and where barriers are the layout win if on the internet.

İnternet Gazeteciliği, karakteri itibariyle, şu anda dünyanın neredeyse en hızlı bilgi aktarımı yapıldığı alan olması bakımından çok önemli bir yere sahiptir. Sadece gazetecilerin değil, internet kullancılarının da haber yazma şansına sahip olduğu bir ortam olarak Sosyal Medya, her geçen gün de tehlikenin arttığı bir ortam olma yolundadır. Çok ucuz fiyatlarla yaratılan internet gazeteleri, istenilen bilginin aktarılması bakımından ve dolaylı olarak da bilginin kirletilmesi açısından her geçen gün daha büyük bir tehlike yaratmaya devam ediyor. Kuzey Kıbrıs Türk Cumhuriyeti'nde yapılan bir araştırmaya göre 48 Haber Sitesi'nin varlığından söz edilebiliyor. Bu Haber sitelerinin birçoğunun künyesinin dahi bulunmaması, tehlikenin boyutlarını gözler önüne sermektedir. Sosyal Medya araçları, bireylerin mahremiyet sınırlarını kaldıran, bireyler ile ilgili kişisel içeriklerin oluşturulduğu ve paylaşıldığı bir alan olduğundan kaynaklı olarak, özel yaşama müdahale edilebilmesi her zaman yüksek potansiyele sahip olacaktır. Bu müdahaleler birçok etik dışı davranışın da çıkış noktası olmaktadır.
