Background: Patients who have undergone a hysterectomy should get care that meets both their physical and psychological requirements, and this care must include the patients' relatives. Aim:  To evaluate the effect of designed nursing guidelines applying on knowledge and anxiety among women undergoing hysterectomy. Design: A quasi-experimental design was used to accomplish this study (pre/post-test). Setting: The study was conducted at the obstetric outpatient clinic at Mansoura University Hospital. Subject: A convenient sampling technique of 50 women undergoing hysterectomy who were attended in the previously selected setting was used. Tools: two tools were used (I) a structured-interview questionnaire, which consisted of three parts demographic data, obstetric history and history about hysterectomy, and Women's knowledge regarding hysterectomy, and (II) a State-Trait Anxiety Inventory. Results: The current study found that there was a highly statistically significant diffe...

With the rapid increase in wireless applications such as mobile base stations, radars, etc., the antenna array becomes the key issue in solving these problems. Since the synthesis of the radiation pattern from beamwidth and SLL points of view depends mainly on the feeding network. Most goals are achieved via the excitation coefficients optimizations. This may make the feeding network more complicated since the unequal power dividers utilized in beamforming almost has large dynamic range ratio. In this paper, the optimization is performed on the spacing between elements using the known neural network algorithm. The optimization goals are the HPBW to be 7o and the SLL to be −20 dB. The feeding network is implemented using the Wilkinson power dividers and the phase compensation is done using additional sections of meandered transmission lines. Excellent agreement is obtained between the simulated and experimental results.

Background: Acne vulgaris is a multifaceted skin defect. It is the most popular skin disease, and it usually appears among preparatory school students. Aim: was aimed to assess risk factors of acne vulgaris in preparatory school students in Fayoum City. Research Design: A descriptive research design was used in this study. Setting: The current study was conducted in 49 preparatory schools in Fayoum City. Sample: A purposive sample was used to select 400 students diagnosed with acne vulgaris. Tools: the investigator used one tool: An interviewing questionnaire which consists of four parts, patients socio-demographic data, Assess family past history and past medical history of preparatory school students diagnosed with acne vulgaris, preparatory students' knowledge regarding acne vulgaris, and risk factors that lead to acne are divided into hormonal factors, diet habits, hygiene habits, use of cosmetics products, sun exposure, and another habit. Results: This study showed, 48.5% o...

Background: Thalassemia has a negative influence on emotional and social life of caregivers as it is associated with significant social disruption, emotional or psychological stress and highly involved with children's psychological problems. Aim: The study aimed to assess caregivers` burnout of their children with thalassemia. Design: Descriptive research design was applied in this study. Sample: Purposive sample was equal 116 caregivers. Setting: The outpatient clinics at Mustafa Hassan university hospital for pediatric (Al-fayoum, Egypt). Tools: Two tools were used, first tool: includes structure interviewing questionnaire of demographic characteristics of caregivers and their children, past and present medical history and caregivers` knowledge regarding thalassemia. Second tool: caregivers` burnout tool for thalassemia Result: The study showed that, 60% of studied caregivers had unsatisfactory knowledge regarding thalassemia while, 40% of them had satisfactory knowledge regar...

Background: Morbidity and mortality due to infectious complications remain a major problem. Infection is the most frequent cause of death following liver transplantation. Infection accounts for more than one half of observed mortality associated with liver transplantation. The Aim: Of this study was to assess the risk factors for infection of pre-operative, operative and post operative patient undergoing liver transplantation and design a strategy for infection control protocol in liver transplant program in National Liver Institute, Menofia University. Material and Method: This study was conducted during the period started from the first of April 2008 to the end of Dec. 2008. Design: Descriptive design. Setting: This study was conducted in National Liver Institute, Menofia University. Sample: A purposive sample of 50 patients undergoing liver transplantation was selected to fulfill the following criteria; Male and female, Children and adults. Tools: (1) A structured Interview quest...

Prostate cancer was rated the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths among men in the world. Studies have identified low awareness and lack of knowledge, perceptions, and negative attitudes toward prostate cancer as a barriers for screening and early detection of the disease. Aim: This study was conducted to assess the effect of prostate cancer program on elderly men perception. Design: A Quasi-experimental research design was utilized to achieve the aim of the study. Setting: This study was conducted at the urologic department, in outpatient clinic in Fayoum university hospital, Fayoum Governorate, Egypt. Sample: A purposive sample was used in this study, the total number was 550 patients, 50 of them excluded based on a pilot study. The patients have been selected according to the following criteria: above age of 60 years, male gender, with urinary disease requiring screening and treatment, with different educational levels, fully oriented and with no prior exposure for any ...

© 2018 Egyptian Nursing Journal | Published by Wolters Introduction With improvements in mortality in systemic lupus erythematosus, the functional status of these patients, assessed using health-related quality of life instruments, is increasingly being recognized as an important outcome measure in clinical research. Domains of health-related quality of life of particular importance to patients with systemic lupus erythematosus include fatigue, ability to work, good health, independence, social and family life, learned helplessness (reflecting the unpredictability of lupus), pain, and the home environment. Aims This study aimed at assessing the effect of systemic lupus on self-esteem and quality of life of patients with systemic lupus. Patients and methods A total of 40 patients with systemic lupus were selected from a rheumatoid outpatient clinic at Ain Shams University hospitals. They answered three questionnaires, including self-esteem scale, quality of life scale, and sociodemog...

Fasting in Ramadan month for elderly with diabetes is a challenge, but numerous elderlies with diabetes select to fast despite the guidance for not to do by health professionals. Purpose: Assessment of the effect of Ramadan instructional program on glycemic control among elderly patients with diabetes. Design: A Quasiexperimental design was used. Setting: This study was conducted at five geriatric home in Cairo City (Hadaya Barakat, Al-Safa, Al-Marwa, OmHani and Al-Fayoum geriatric home). Sample: APurposive sample of two hundred elderly patients with diabetes were divided into two groups (100 elderly patients with diabetes in each group), the first group was educated for Ramadan instructional program (intervention group), and the second group was not educated Ramadan instructional program (control group). Tools: 1structured interviewing questionnaire concerned with (socio-demographic data and personal medical history). 2Glucometers sheet. 3adherence to a healthy diet sheet. 4biochem...
