La conoscenzaapprofondita di questi ecosistemi e importante per l’applicazione di criteri di selvicoltura eassestamento su basi naturali.In base ai caratteri dendrometrici e strutturali, all’analisi comparata di fotografieaeree rilevate in un arco di 50 anni e all’osservazione dei segni dell’utilizzo da parte dell’uomo,sono individuate le tipologie strutturali presenti nella faggeta: senescente, disetaneae coetanea, in parte rispondenti ad un diverso grado di naturalita.

The coppice selection system is a special type of management of beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) coppic... more The coppice selection system is a special type of management of beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) coppice practiced in mountain regions of Italy until the first half of the 20th century. The improvement of social and economic conditions within mountain communities and the progressive shift from an intensive use of the forests towards a protective policy led to the conversion of many beech coppices into high stands. Among abandoned coppices we can still find some that exhibit the typical features of the coppice selection system. Where the locally predominant forest type is beech coppice in transition to high forest, a widespread and fairly homogeneous ecosystem in the Apennines between Tuscany and Emilia-Romagna, the restoration of the coppice selection system can have a role in maintaining and improving both landscape and ecological diversity. Obiettivo fondamentale della gestione dei siti Natura 2000 e la salvaguardia di specie animali e ... more Obiettivo fondamentale della gestione dei siti Natura 2000 e la salvaguardia di specie animali e vegetali di interesse comunitario e la conservazione della funzionalita ecologica degli habitat inclusi. Secondo la direttiva Habitat cio viene perseguito mediante vari strumenti, tra cui la pianificazione delle attivita di gestione. Il Ministero dell’Ambiente e Tutela del Territorio e del Mare ha a tal fine predisposto apposite linee guida per la redazione dei piani di gestione. Il presente lavoro ha lo scopo di illustrare, come caso di studio, i criteri utilizzati per l’analisi dell’assetto forestale di un sito Natura 2000 in Abruzzo a prevalenza di bosco di faggio e le conseguenti ipotesi messe a punto per la definizione della strategia di gestione conservativa del sito.
