Objetive: quantitative statistical analysis taken from messages of the medical information listserv, BIBLIOMED, received during the period January-December 2002 - Method: tabularion and graphics were programmed with Microsoft Excel 97; taking intro account the amount and subject of messages, categorized per months, during a period of a year - Results: there was 422 messages distributed in the list during 2002 - Conclusions: from 422 messages, March was the month with greater percentage of distribution, with a total of 52 and the subject of greater incidence was the request of information (137). According to messages of the list, we inferred the necessity and interchange of knowledge on biomedical information.

We performed a theoretical study on information needs in dentistry and presents a quantitative / qualitative analysis of messages sent to the bibliometric distribution list, which has information in dentistry during the years 1999-2005. The results are divided by quantity, issuing institution, message types and gender. Processing is performed and graphing the results using Microsoft Excel © 2007. Results and findings are set end to these types of studies continue development and maintenance from the new communication tools.
