In June 2004, a Syro-canadian team undertook, with the collaboration of geographers from the Université de Lyon, a geoarchaeological survey of the Ghab valley, namely its southern region. The initial objective of this survey is to understand the implementation of Tell ‘Acharneh, a 70 hectare major site being excavated since 1998 by a Canadian expe- dition led by one of the authors, within a network of contemporaneous sites, that is dated from the Bronze and Iron ages (3000-700 BC). First observations made in the field, namely by geomorphologists, now lead us to envision unexpected hypotheses with regard to possible settlement patterns in the southern area of the Ghab valley at that time. A case study will be used.

3D geometric modeling consists of representing geometric and spatial relationships of volumetric objects. We think it could be helpful in the context of archaeological excavation units representation and analysis. This article presents a procedure developed to generate 3D models from GPS positions taken at the top and the bottom of the excavation units boundaries on the archaeological site of Tell
