This is the first reported single isolation of S. uberis from an oryx with vegetative endocarditis leading to fatal congestive heart failure.

Cardiac auscultation revealed a left basal grade IV/VI systolic ejection murmur, and an echocardiogram confirmed a severe pulmonic valvular stenosis (pressure gradient of 98 mm Hg). The lesion was managed by balloon valvuloplasty, resulting in a marked pressure gradient reduction (30 mm Hg). The cat recovered well, and clinical signs resolved. This is the first description of a pulmonary valve stenosis and management with balloon valvuloplasty in a wild felid.

The key clinical features of this patient include fever, lymphocytopenia and thrombocytopenia. We carried out a serological and molecular investigation in the indicated case and on relatives with close contact. The SFTSV infection was confirmed through amplification of viral genetic material using the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) from the patient's serum, but not relatives with close contact. Subsequently direct sequence of PCR product demonstrated a homology of 94-96% in the nucleotide sequence compared to a reference sequence previously reported, in which the majority of patients originated from an epidemic area of Central and Northeast China. Our results suggest that SFTSV can occur in a non-epidemic area due to a similar strain of SFTSV that apparently affect the b...

However, the expression patterns of mCRPs, including CD46, CD55, and CD59, are inconsistent in different types of cancer cells. To determine whether CD46, CD55, and CD59 are differentially expressed in neoplastic and adjacent normal colon tissues and to assess their clinical significance. Immunohistochemistry was performed on tissue microarrays of cancerous and adjacent normal colon tissues. The expression levels of CD46, CD55, and CD59 were significantly higher in colon cancer tissues compared with the normal adjacent colon tissues. We found that the expression levels of CD55 and CD59 correlated with the grade of differentiation in colon cancers. In addition, the expression of CD55 and CD59 was greater in stage III and stage IV colon cancers than in stage I and stage II cancers according ...

Its role and function in gastric cancer have not been fully elucidated. The present study was aimed to investigate the expression profile of FOXO4 in gastric cancer and the effect of FOXO4 on cancer cell growth and metastasis. Immunohistochemistry, Western blotting and qRT-PCR were performed to detect the FOXO4 expression in gastric cancer cells and tissues. Cell biological assays, subcutaneous tumorigenicity and tail vein metastatic assay in combination with lentivirus construction were performed to detect the impact of FOXO4 to gastric cancer in proliferation and metastasis in vitro and in vivo. Confocal and qRT-PCR were performed to explore the mechanisms. We found that the expression of FOXO4 was decreased significantly in most gastric cancer tissues and in various human gastric cancer cell lines. Up-regulating FOXO4 inhibited the growth and metastasis of gastric cancer cell lin...
